Upgrade To A True Dual Exhaust. Now you can easily upgrade your V6 Pony to a true dual exhaust with a Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe. Just install this Pypes X-pipe along with the 1999-2004 GT catback of your choice, to give your Mustang the impressive looks and sound of a GT.

Balances Exhaust Gases. This Pypes off road x-pipe balances out the gas pressures in your exhaust system to create more power and torque than a traditional H-pipe. Why? Because the exiting exhaust pulses are merged at the "X", resulting in less exhaust back pressure for more power.

Modular Construction. Pypes unique three piece modular construction makes it quick and easy to add or remove a catalytic converter to your exhaust system in just minutes depending on your driving needs.

Durable Stainless Steel Construction. Pypes uses sturdy 16 gauge 409 stainless steel mandrel bent 2.5" tubing for improved flow and features welded reinforcement plates for additional strength.

Application. This Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe is designed for use on a 1999-2004 V6 Mustangs in combination with an aftermarket or factory dual 1999-2004 GT catback exhaust system. Intended for off-road track use only.

Can you add Cats to this? I want to get an Off-Road X-pipes for my mustang but it need to be able to go through inspection in 2yrs. So i was wondering if i put these on by the time i need to go through inspection i can put some cats on it until it passes and then ill take them off. Or would i have to buy the Catted X-pipes for the inspection?

    Javier

    • The catted x pipe would be cheaper in the long run.

Okay so I plan on getting th MAC Dual Catback Exhaust Conversion Kit (99-04) from this site. This would be able to connect to that correct?

    CarterD

i have a Pypes Street-Pro Dual Cat-Back Exhaust and was seeing if it would fit on this x pipe. I noticed that it is meant for a y pipe.

    wisegman

    • The Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe is meant for use with a GT style catback, and would not work with a catback intended for use on a stock V6.

What type and size bolts do I need for this. Neither the x-pipe or cat back came with bolts to connect the two.

    Chris45

    • The Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe comes with two clamps that you use to connect the x pipe to the headers.

Will these fit with the MAC cat-back system?

    TC10

    • The MAC Dual Exhaust Conversion Kit for 99-04 V6 would not fit as that is a full dual conversion kit with a Y-pipe. The X-pipe in question is a conversion kit to allow fitment for a number of the catbacks designed for the GT. So this X-pipe would indeed fit the MAC Cat-Back Exhaust for 96-04 GT, Mach 1. I will post that link below. https://www.americanmuscle.com/mac-catback-9604gt.html

Will this X-pipe through any codes and a check engine light if you bolt everything on and just run no cats and no muffler

    TylerC

    • Since this Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe does not ave any catalytic converters, it will trigger a check engine light if the vehicle is not tuned for a catless set-up. To eliminate the check engine light, we would recommend the Plug-in MIL Eliminators, Item 56045. If you have any other modifications or would like to see the most out of this x-pipe, we would recommend a custom tune. https://www.americanmuscle.com/stmilel.html

      Insane and amazing

First off I will start off saying that these are a pain in the a** to install. What i found works the best was to put the front two pipes in there correct holes on the x and loosely tighten the clamps around the connection. Next pull the two farthest ends from the x together until it is fairly close to fitting on the manifolds. Finish the install and should work pretty good. I put these on with the magnapacks and its insanely loud and sounds awesome. If you don't want it extremely loud get a chambered muffler. Lost a bit of low end torque but can feel a big increase in horsepower above 2500 rpm. Sounds better then a V8 and sounds like a hardcore race car at 4G RPM. Buy these!!!

OK i have a 01 mustang and i took the pypes to the shop to get put on and 1st off they didnt even fit they have to cut some of the pipe to make it fit and i also had to buy a O2 sensor extender to make the driver side back cat plug even fit... thats only reason im giving this 4 stars..Anyways, this is REALLY LOUD!!! and i love it if you want your car to be really loud go with thease pypes and and no cats. Just Keep in mind that on some vehicles they dont fit and u have to cut and weld them to make them fit but overall Great Buy yet again for American Muscle!

This X pip sounds great.. you can really hear the exhaust coming through it. Reminds me so much like a Classic Muscle car.. I got this with BBK Shorty Headers and Catback Magnaflow Exhaust.. Combo is great.. =)

      MUST DO

The fit was good and performance gain was great. The sound really kicks in at 3K and above. I had to unhook the driver side O2 sensor from its mount for it to reach.

      V8 Sound

Ok after seeing a youtube clip, i really wanted to do this to my pony. Have a 2000 V6. What i did is use this pipe, Mac Long Tubes, Flowmaster 40's catback. I swear it sounds FREAKIN AMAZING. Sounds closer to a GT but not the same, and that's in a good way! It is one mean sounding little pony now!

      It works

I installed this X pipe on a 2002 V6. It bolted right up to my BBK headers but the drivers side leg needed cut and welded to line up with my Flowmaster duals. But the sound and power were worth the effort.

      Great for the price

Im running just this with no cat back and the sound is pretty awesome at anything above 1700. Has a very deep annoying resonance inside the car at idle and under 1700. Noticable torque loss at low rpm but also noticable hp gain at higher rpm. Thing i dislike the most is the pipes hang much lower than stock. They scrape on any angled driveway

      Amazing X-Pipe system!!

I had X-Pipe exhaust installed in my 2000 Mustang V6 and wow... speechless! I had them along with a Flowmaster Cat-Back and it sounds great. Installing the X-Pipe eliminates the cats and it doesn't just make it louder and sound better, but it gives it a noticeable amount of power, I am very impressed. I would recommend this to anyone looking for an upgrade on their exhaust. The price is worth it, I am very happy with this exhaust system!

      lived up to its expectation

I have had this paired with the SLP Loudmouth 1 catback for about a year now. The X pipe went on very well and fit almost perfect, between the x pipe and the loudmouth the car is louder than most V8s you see driving around. The sound sounds great through certain rpms but some can sound really annoying and obnoxious. This setup is very loud and will turn alot of heads, but overall a really good product and would recommend it

      Loud and proud!

Installed this with slp lm1 catback. Sounds awesome. The xpipe fit decent. Does leak at slip fittings but nothing some mig welding didn't fix. Whole day install for me because I installed this slp catback and a gt 8.8 rearend. So don't be scared to just tackle this install. Buy two sets of sensor extenders or make your own like I did. Must keep your back o2s in and plugged in or will throw circuit and stuck lean code with tune. Hahah anyway happy with my purchase. If bought just take your time during install. Remember patience makes for an easy install.

      Better at last

I had bought The Pipes almost 3 years ago...They had a Issue with the pipes Hanging in the center....I did everything to make the pipes stright, But Nothing was working..... So I called American Muscle up and told them my Problem... Since It's been so long that would not replace the pipes, but They did give me a discount.... I installed them yesterday and they were going in perfect.... They say to cut 8.5 inchs to fit the cats, but I cut a little more then that.... This set was a Better fit and sits perfect..... Always make sure if you do this yourself if the down pipes start low the rest will also.... But Everything worked out good.....

      Off road x

Installed this on my 02 mustang and I already had flowmaster duals with the h-pace setter. The car has a very pleasing growl to it cruising at 1500 rpm and it hits that sweet spot right at 3000. After that it is when it gets really raspy and almost sounds a little ricey to be honest. Or I might not have it bolted together 100 flush with the catback. Probably going to order some cats to tone down the rasp, but other than that great sound and noticeable performance increase.

      Pypes Off-Road X-Pipe (99-04 V6) Fits 1996 Mustang

I installed this into my 1996 Mustang 3.8. I called Pypes prior to purchase to find out why it would not fit a 96 Mustang. They told me due to the transmission cross member. The Passenger side fits perfect, and the driver side gets real to the cross member. With a little patience I was able to get it to fit very nice. The left side is not perfect, but acceptable. There also looks to be plenty of room to install high cats. One feature for my application that I really like is the downpipes have the o2 sensor bungs on the downpipe near the headers. Being that my up stream o2s screw into the headers, the bungs on the down pipe provide an ideal location for a wideband 02 sensor.

      2002 mustang v6

These pipes are actually very loud without cats, I have a v6 with a slp loud mouth and I actually found this thing a little too loud? I would recommend getting the kit with the cats unless you really like the raspy noise. The kit will fit but you will need to beat it up a little as it is tight fit, and You will need 1 pair of 18" o2 extenders, also you will need to destroy the clips of the front o2 sensor or else they won't be long enough to react into your front tubes.

      Awesome Sound!!!

Installed this midpipe with a Flowmaster American Thunder GT caback and could not be more pleased. Took a bit of pushing and shoving to get the whole set up together but install didnt take more than a day with 2 sets of hands. I am pretty mechanically inclined but by no means an expert and it was easy enough to intall the whole set up including tha catback. The sound is deep with a low rumble at idle and low RPMs and then around 3,000+ really can hear the offroad x and this baby starts to scream. People mistake my little v6 for a Gt all the time and I constantly turn heads driving around or when entering/leaving a carshow. You will be very happy with this product as am I... just a reminder this kit does not include hardware to connect the catback to this midpipe so you will need to buy those bolts yourself. Thanks again AM for a great product, fast shipping, and wonderful service.

Great but its wayyyyy toooo loudd for a v6

I brought this x pipe to go with the Gt SLP loud mouth for my 2001 V6 mustang. It sounded good after install. first of all it didnt even fit. We had to bend the pipe to fit the flanges and also need to extend the o2 wires. It is wayyy too loud for a v6 mustang. This car is louder than a COBRA. I cant even listen to music or have a conversation with my girl in the cabin thats howw loud. I think i should add the catts if i can

      Nice purchase

I bought this X-pipe to go on my 96 V6. At the same time the X went on, I had two flowmaster 40 series mufflers installed. My mustang is pretty loud now, but it has a nice (but not obnoxious) tone. It is somewhat raspy due to the x-pipe, but I like it. A muscle car isnt supposed to sound perfect. I have gotten some compliments on the aggressive tone.
