    Street or Strip. The RAM HDX Clutch kit is designed for stock Mustangs with bolt-on mods and mild power enhancements this clutch is great for the street or strip. And if you are replacing your clutch it is also a good idea to replace your Clutch Cable and Quadrant at the same time to prolong the life of your new Clutch.

    Superior Design. The RAM HDX pressure plate features increased clamp loads and 200 Series organic clutch disc. The 200 series consists of heavy duty organic facing material that greatly increases rotational strength, and an eight spring center hub for excellent shock absorption.

    Application. The RAM HDX Clutch kits are the performance upgrade for your daily driven Mustang. The HDX Mustang Clutch is designed for the 1994-2004 V6, with the either T-5 or T-45 transmission.

        Does this kit include a pilot bearing?

        • The RAM HDX Clutch does not come with a pilot bearing. The items included in this kit are the pressure plate, clutch disc, throwout bearing, and the alignment tool.

        What flywheel should I get with this clutch to avoid chatter?

        • While we offer a few RAM flywheels, this will vary depending on the year of your vehicle. Here is the link to the 99-04 V6 flywheels: then the link to the 94-98 V6 flywheels: With this being said, the stock flywheel can be used with this clutch so long as you did have it resurfaced and it was in good condition.

        Do I need an aftermarket flywheel or can I use my stock flywheel? (assuming its in good condition)

        • Generally we do recommend to upgrade the flywheel when upgrading the clutch. We do offer a few RAM flywheels, but you may need a specific one depending on the year of your vehicle. Here is the link to the 99-04 V6 flywheels: then the link to the 94-98 V6 flywheels: With that being said, the stock flywheel can be used with this clutch, it is just highly recommended that you have the flywheel resurfaced.

        does this come with a flywheel? i need a new clutch looking different options and i noticed that on the spec stage 1/2 clutch you have the option to add a flywheel but with this clutch you dont thank you

        • This Ram Clutch kit does not include a flywheel. For your 2000 V6, I've attached the (2) flywheel options you'll want to take a look at. Please give us a call if you have any questions or would like some help deciding which to choose!

            Disappointed RAM HDX Clutch Review

            I was excited to get this clutch. It had a lot of good reviews and it sounded perfect for what I needed it for.. but I was very disappointed. First attempt: after install it had terrible clutch chatter - virtually undrivable! After contacting RAM directly and quickly concluding this was not normal, I contacted AM staff referencing my conversation thread with RAM who then agreed to replace my clutch with free return slip. Attempt 2: Install went well, but still experiencing clutch chatter although much less than before. Was told it would likely go away after break in period. 1,500 mile break in period did nothing to the chatter and now 6,000 miles later it drives me absolutely crazy - to the point I often hate driving my car and take my girlfriends civic instead. I would NOT recommend these clutches and wish I didn’t waste over $1,000 just to have my clutch worse than when I started this ‘upgrade’.

            4 2001 V6 - JohnO Installation Time: Weekend

            2nd time swapping a clutch

            Ok... Got this cat bc my throwout bearing went out, so I decided to replace the clutch while I was at it. Swapped the clutch with a Spec clutch... That thing failed in less than 1000 miles... SO needless to say, I returned that one under warranty, bought this cat, and haven't been disappointed yet. Finish on it looks great, doesn't really matter tho bc it's going to be covered up, was hella easy to install, everything lined up perfect. It didn't come with actual instructions on how to install it, instead it came with a sheet of paper with a bunch of tips for adjusting and setting it properly. Which I thought was pretty cool. I just finished my break-in period today, so far no issues, no chatter, bites well, not slipping or anything crazy like that. Seems like I got what I paid for. For all you guys looking into swapping your factory clutch to something decent, go ahead, chalk up the money and rebuild your clutch cable, quadrant, adjuster, fork, bearing retainer, and rear main seal while your at it. It's a PITA to get this deep into your cars guts, so may as well replace everything while you're down there.

            5 2004 V6 - I8rpot8r Installation Time: Weekend

            Great clutch

            Bought this clutch because i went cheap on the last clutch i bought and it chattered like crazy. Installed this clutch with a friend and have about 3,000 miles on it, it grips well engages smoothly and doesnt chatter. Probably could of solved the issues below by buying a quadrant and firewall adjuster but didnt want to spend anymore money so i modified the self adjusting quadrant into a manual one (cut the metal tab off that the quadrant rests on and uses to self adjust). Also had probelms with the clutch pedal vibrating and the throwout bearing making noise but solved both those issues by installing a spring (3/4 x 3 1/2 x .072 diameter) between the clutch fork and bellhousing. Everything has worked out great.

            This clutch definitely made my clutch pedal more softer. It also made a little diffence in regards to my accelaration speed.

            5 1998 V6 - Mauricio Installation Time: Full Day

            The Pressure Plate had grease all over the surface, Some one had touched it with grease on there hands. It took about 30 min to clean it with a towel and rubbing alcohol. I took my son and I about 6 hours for tear down a installation. This is a father and son project. The clutch works great.

            Hoping this works

            Upgraded to the stage 2 kit here after a couple of throwout bearings. This thing looks way stronger than the oem version. Install was a pain with the tranny. This thing went in just fine though so no worries there. Waiting until the break in period is up before I let it loose!

            5 2002 V6 - fbullitt Installation Time: Full Day

            Great all around clutch

            I was a bit worried that this clutch might be too heavy duty/stiff for everyday use, but it actually has a really good feel to it and grips very well. I would recommend that you get a different throw out bearing than the one included with this kit, because the RAM throw out bearing seems sort of cheap. I also installed this with a spec billet steel flywheel and an adjustable clutch cable/quadrant. Overall I am very happy with this clutch.

            5 2001 V6 - Mrredpony Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

            Second one

            I bought one a few years back and did a cable too. I was complaining about how stiff it was but I later found out it was the cable in a bind. Fixed it and it was good to go. Lasted 80k and that was because it got oil soaked. I bought another one and still love it. Perfect for any 3.8. Mine makes around 270 to the ground and I have no issues at all.

            5 2000 V6 - articulatepro Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

            Ram Hi Perf Clutch

            I had been in the market for a Centerforce II dual Friction Clutch which had used in my last V8 Mustang, now that I have a Six under the hood, Centerforce had nothing available for weeks, so I contacted AM, and ordered the RAM Clutch on their recommendation, I am not sorry. Clutch feels great, has immediate engaugment and grips like mad. I would say buy without reservation!

            I bought this clutch along with the Ram aluminum fly wheel. Man, talk about smooth shifting AND grip when you drop the clutch! I will probably be ordering some new tires soon. Great product.

            5 2003 V6 - MM6403 Installation Time: Shop Install Installation Cost: 0-$100


            Had this installed when I had my transmission rebuit, along with the RAM billit steel flywheel. Very agressive, yet the clutch is much softer than stock. I have the Steeda clutch quadrant, cable and Tri-axe shifter as well as the SR firewall addjuster attatched to this clutch, so I have to grade the overall system as A++ Being this was installed at the time of transmission rebuild,it cost $0. Normal installation would be around $250-$350. This is a simple T5 "swap out".

            4 2000 V6 - RoyG Installation Time: Afternoon

            Ram HDX Clutch, V6

            The Installation was not complicated at all, actually went easier than expected. Drove about 520 miles before actually downshifting and going open throttle. Acceleration not only feels really good but every time i shift gears the car feels strong. Great feeling when it comes down to stepping on the gas and shifting. Cant wait to go down the the race-track and see what times i hit.

            4 1999 V6 - MatthewH Installation Time: Shop Install

            Good clutch

            Slightly stiffer than stock, but not too bad. Has a more precise engagement point. Overall length of travel is about the same, maybe slightly reduced. The Steeda firewall adjuster is a nice feature, but (at least as my shop installed it) most of the variability comes in the second half of clutch travel. Overall this is a good clutch. Since I was having a synchro replaced and they were 'in there' anyway I'm glad I did it, but it's pricey to do it just 'for fun.'

            im a 17year old boy with a mustang i run this pony like nobodys busniess everyday i wind out every gear my old clutch blew out like nothin but this ram stage two is doing great i run it hard all day everyday and i havnt had a bit of trouble it is a little stiff not as stiff as some reviews ive heard i can still walk lol. but i totaly recomind this to anyone whos like me and likes to touch the red before they upshift i cant even begin to tell you what a diffrence this has made for me i love you americanmuscle you rock every part i buy for stacy will be from you

            5 2001 V6 - CBly Installation Time: Weekend

            Smooth Shifting!

            The clutch installation project took me a weekend to accomplish mainly because I had to wait on the flywheel to be machined. Definitely my first clutch replacement attempt ever (so i'm sure that added some time); it was a pain to get at a few bolts but otherwise it was pretty straightforward, especially if you have a Clymer/Haynes/etc.. manual. I replaced my clutch in January of 2010 and 2 years and 43,000 miles later, it's still holding up well and no complaints. I also installed the aluminum clutch quadrant and cable adjustment kit at the same time that greatly EASED the process of clutch adjustment. Definitely recommend, thanks AM!

            Absolutely Amazing!!!

            What can I say.... This clutch is absolutely amazing, after the 500 mile break in period it grabs hard!!!! It's almost a new car! If you want serious grip get this!!! Also make sure to get the Ford Racing Throw Out Bearing, its made a whole lot better and will last longer.

            5 2004 V6 - Millmustang Installation Time: Afternoon

            Best clutch period!!!

            This clutch is awesome. I changed out a spec stage 2 for this Ram HDX clutch kit and this is the best clutch I have ever used hands down. No clutch chatter. Smooth engagement and disengagement. This clutch also has just the right amount of pedal pressure. Not too much and not too little. If you have a mustang and have been debating getting a new clutch and can't decide on which brand to get then look no further than RAM. I bought this clutch during the November sale and saved about $30. Thanks AM!!!

            I waited to put the metal to the pedal but it was sure worth it as soon as I got a hold of it after all that waiting the grip on that clutch was amazing 10x better than the stock one even feel like it got a lil extra boost
