Review & Install Video
Hey, what's going on, guys? Adam here with AmericanMuscle.com. Today, I'm bringing you a detailed overview of the Raxiom Red LED Reverse Light fitting all 2015 and newer Mustangs. The Raxiom Red LED Reverse Light is going to be for all 2015 and newer Mustang owners out there looking to replace the factory boring reverse light with a completely redesigned LED light that actually works in conjunction with your running lights. Now, Raxiom is really the industry leader in high-performance lighting technology, so it's a no-brainer to look in their direction when replacing anything lighting on your Mustang.
Now, in this case, you're replacing your boring factory reverse light with a brighter, whiter LED replacement. Now, what sets this kit apart from the rest is that you can actually splice it into your vehicle's wiring harness to work in conjunction with your running lights, as you could see with this big red LED bar directly in the middle.
I will say that this design from Raxiom is not gonna be for everybody, as it does completely redesign and change the look of the current reverse light, giving it a more unique design for your rear end. Now, if you're not interested, you can check out some of the other LED conversion bulbs for your current reverse light. But if you are interested, this particular option has a clear lens with a red bar going over here with a very unique design that offers a red LED for your running lights, as well as nine individual white reverse lights that obviously work in conjunction with your reverse lock out. Now, with that said, if you are interested, there is this option. There's also a smoked option that has a smoked lens and offers a white bar across with a red LED inside.
Now, swapping out your factory reverse light bulb for an LED conversion such as this one can be very beneficial for the guys out there running a backup camera. Now, for the backup camera, the brighter, whiter LEDs can be especially useful for you at night, offering better visibility and overall better safety options.
Now, the way this system works is very simple. The nine white LEDs are going to work in conjunction with your reverse light, just the same way your factory one does, making it a direct plug-and-play with this connector plugging into your factory harness. Now, like I said earlier, what makes this setup different is the running light option. Now, the big red bar you see directly in the middle with that design is actually going to splice into your factory running light by using a red and black wire we have here.
Now, it's a very simple installation job. It includes everything necessary to get it done, and it can be for anybody to do in the driveway at home. I do wanna point out that this was made from OEM-quality material, so you don't have to worry about a cheap quality. It's made of the same stuff that your factory reverse light was made of in your S550 already. Price-wise for the Raxiom Red LED Reverse Light Kit, you can expect to be spending just about $150 which, in my opinion, is a very reasonable price to completely change the look of your reverse lighting system if you guys are into this design here.
For the installation, like I said, is going to be very simple and very straightforward. Will require a little bit of splicing, but we'll to that in a little bit, something anybody can do in the driveway at home, again. Now, the only tools you're gonna need, a ratchet and a socket set, and you won't even have to lift the car off the ground for this one. So kick things off, you'll remove the bolts in the middle of your rear valance, just to gain access to your factory reverse light. So you wanna pull down on that rear valance, just to gain enough access to get your ratchet in to remove the factory reverse light, which is held on by two bolts. So once you get that off the connector, you can put that aside. Now, at this point, you can install the Raxiom reverse light in its place using the factory bolts you just removed, and we're gonna leave the wiring hanging down at this point.
Now, once you get the connectors all together from the Raxiom lights into the factory harness, you can feed the green and black wires up through the hole in the trunk back into the vehicle. Once you get the two wires up into your trunk, you can pop your trunk open and actually take off the liners on one of the tail lights, gaining access to the power wire and ground wire. Once you locate your power wire, you're gonna splice in using the quick splice connectors provided in the kit. Splice the green wire into your power wire, your black wire into your ground wire, making sure all that's connected properly and put your trunk liners back together.
Overall, you're definitely looking at a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter and looking at spending about an hour or so of time in the driveway at home. Definitely something anybody can do with a little bit of time.
So just to quickly wrap things up, guys, if you're the owner of a 2015 or newer Mustang and you're looking for a very inexpensive way to change up the look of your rear end by switching out that factory stock reverse lighting, you might wanna check out the Raxiom Red LED Reverse Light, always available right here at AmericanMuscle.com.
