Hey, guys. Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com, here with the Redline Tuning Hood Quicklift Plus System for 2015 and up GT, Ecoboost, and V6 Mustangs. The Redline Tuning Hood Quicklift Plus System's gonna be a good option for anyone looking to delete the factory prop rod and clean up the engine bay. These have black, e-coated finishes, so they'll look nice on any car, and they're a simple product that makes a big difference under the hood. These are gonna create a cleaner appearance overall and they have much nicer look than the factory prop rod does. These are gonna be a good mod for those of you that show your car and that need that clean look but they're also a good mod for those of you out there that work under the hood a lot. I have a set of hood struts in my fox body and it's much easier to work under the hood when there isn't a hood prop in the way. So not only do these look good, they also have some good use as well. Redline offers two sets of Quicklift systems and they do have different prices. The difference is gonna be in the finish. So these ones are e-coated black and the other ones, the Elite System, have a stainless steel finish. They have the same features, just a little bit of a different look. So speaking of features, the hood struts are valved gas springs that have a progressive release system, so your hood isn't gonna just fly up or down. They have a controlled lift and the struts do slow as they get to the top of the lift to make things more progressive. And the mounting brackets are stainless steel. As far as price, you can expect to spend about $100 for this kit, and if you'd like to spring for the Elite kit, that's about $30 more. This is a complete kit, so you get the two struts, the fender brackets with the red inserts, the hood brackets, a plastic drill guide, and the drill bit as well to make things easier for you. So I mentioned drilling. Yes, you will need a drill for the install, but it's still a straight-forward install. These install using pre-existing holes in the top of the fenders and on the underside of the stock hood, so you don't have to drill into metal. You will need to drill a small hole in the plastic battery cover, but you do get a template and the drill bit, so it's not too bad. You can expect to spend an hour on the install and I'm going to call this a solid one on the difficulty meter. You do have to drill, but it's nothing big, and you are drilling into plastic, so really anyone can handle it. You need a 13 millimeter deep socket, an electric drill, and a center punch for the install and that's about it. You start by removing the top hinge bolt on the passenger side of the car so you can pull the bracket over the upper hinge bolt and then move to the left side of the car. The bracket installs the same way on this side. Next you'll need to position the plastic guide to mark the center of the hole for the battery cover with the punch that you have or you could just use the template to drill. If you follow the book, once the hole is marked, you're ready for drilling. It would be safest to take the battery cover off to drill, but we left it on and completed the install just fine. After that, you can install the fender brackets and then the hood struts. They just snap into place with the hood spring housing side facing the hood and the extension side on the fender. Wrapping things up here, the Redline Tuning Hood Quicklift Plus System offers two gas hood struts to replace the factory hood prop. The kit comes complete with everything that you'll need for the install, which is very easy and simple with no modifications required except for a small hole in the battery cover. You can check this kit out more online right here, at AmericanMuscle.com.

Deletes Factory Prop Rod. It is hard to believe that Ford still uses an old style prop rod to hold up the hood of their all new S550 Mustang. But now you can ditch that prop rod and add a clean appearance and modern convenience to your 2015-2017 Pony by installing a RedLine Tuning QuickLIFT PLUS Hood System.

Slow Release System. RedLine Tuning QuickLIFT PLUS Hood Struts use powerful custom-valved gas springs that feature a progressive release system. In the final few inches of operation the struts slow the rate of extension allowing for a smooth, fluid lifting process.

Complete Kit. The QuickLIFT PLUS system includes two black e-coated progressive-rate gas springs that will lift and hold your Mustangs hood securely in place. The kit also includes black powder-coated brackets with ball-stud end fittings and the necessary mounting hardware required for installation.

Straight Forward Installation. The QuickLIFT PLUS System installs utilizing pre-existing holes in the top of the fenders and on the underside of the stock hood, so no drilling into metal is required. However you will need to drill a hole into the plastic battery cover to access one of the holes on the fender. A template and a stepped drill bit is included for your convenience.

Application. This RedLine Tuning Hood QuickLIFT PLUS System is designed to fit all 2015 to 2017 Mustangs, including the V6, EcoBoost and GT models. Does not fit Shelby GT350's.

Please Note. These Hood Struts are not compatible on Non-US Spec Hoods.

Does anyone know if these cause any bulge in the hood causing the hood to be higher in that area and not line up with the fender?

    • As long as the RedLine Tuning Hood QuickLIFT PLUS System is installed correctly this will not cause a bulge in the hood.

Did they fix the issue with the passenger side bracket holes not lining up? Some of the reviews state that this bracket needs to be modified in order for the window washer fluid line hole to line up with bracket.

    Dave2017GT

    • We have not heard of any issues with the washer line needing the bracket to be lined up with the latest latest batches of the RedLine Tuning Hood QuickLIFT PLUS System.

      Great fit.

Figment was great I didn’t have issues with one end of the piston. The clamping clip folded in on itself while installing it. I got a screw driver and got it slightly pulled out. I would say the metal was easy to bend and could have been a defective or weak point. Otherwise it was a great product.

      RedLine QuickLIFT PLUS System

These are great. Release the hood latch, start to raise hood and let go. No banging of hood as it reaches full opening. Comes to a slow stop at full open. Highly recommended

      cheap hardware

I like the design, the increase in strength to support my hood, and I like the looks of the struts but there was a problem. The socket ends were very, very, tight, I had to squeeze them on with a pair of slip joint pliers, one was totally useless. I called Am Muscle but they said I would have to return the whole kit, but they also gave me Redline's customer service number which I called. Very helpful guy, he said they had run into this problem in a recent batch of struts and that he would mail me a couple of new ones, which he did. The new ones worked perfectly, snapped onto the male ball firmly with no tools needed. I tried calling them to thank them and to ask for two more for the second strut but to no avail, I had to leave a message each time and I still haven't heard back from anyone to help me, I told them on the phone that I'd pay for them, that wasn't a problem.

      Pretty Awesome!!!!

Ordered on Wednesday and had them by Friday, good job AM. Install was easy until I went to snap on last strut. The end piece was damaged and would not stay attached. I called AM and they directed me to RedLine. They shipped replacement ends and I had them within a week. They work great and looks great without hood prop rod. Definitely a must for any S550.

Everything installed easily following the instructions provided. Everyone complained about the bracket by the washer fluid line not lining up, but that was addressed in the instructions. Works great, a month in and no issues yet.

      Redline Hood Struts

These should have come on the car from Ford! Fast shipping from AM and a good value for the price. Simple install instructions...took less than 30 minutes total. Only issue I had was the hole for the passenger side bracket needs to be waaaay bigger than the drill bit provided to clear the battery cover. I bored it out to about double the size and notched the side for easy on and off. Definitely a great product for ease of maintenance compared to that junk factory setup.

      Well worth it.

This was actually fun to install. That hole for the washer line is still a little off. A little filing on the shoulder of the passenger side bracket took care of the problem. The rest fit absolutely perfect. Very little effort is required in opening the hood or closing it. The gaps between the fender and hood were spot on before the instillation and were exactly the same afterwards. Too easy.

      Nice hood struts

Hood struts work great. No problem lifting and keeping up my hood with MMD Foose hood scoop. The fender bracket on the driver side wasn't cooperating with me but I finally got it. I had trouble with the nut staying in place while I was pulling up bracket and turning screw. One major concern was the hole for the washer fluid hose doesn't line up with the hole on the bracket. Had to drill a quick hole into the hood where the hole in the bracket is. It was an easy fix but one I shouldn't have to do.

      Why aren't these stock??

Had installed these on 2005 mustang and knew that these would be first upgrade on 2017. Very simple install. I found that making two cuts on the hard plastic of the battery cover, without cutting though the edge molding of the cover, allows the modified battery cover to fit over the passenger side strut. I still don't understand why ford doesn't install these as OEM.

      The hood is good

my only criticism is that when the hood is near the end of its travel it moves too slowly in contrast to the word quick in its name. overall, I do like the hood and have no plans to change it.

Perfect fit for a 2015 GT

Got sick and tired of the prop rod and finally decided to do something about it. Looked at the various kits available - finally settled on Redline because of the ease of installation and the positive reviews. Kit installs in 15 to 20 minutes tops without any issues. Apparently the 15 GT hood from Ford is slightly different than the 16 and 17 models because I didn't have any issue getting the washer hose installed - fit perfectly as it would from the factory. Need to lift the hood about half way before the pistons take over though this might improve a bit when it warms up. Like the look and finally able to get rid of that ancient prop rod that I despise.

Sensible Addition to 2017 Mustang GT

After looking at several other brands of hood lift systems the Redline unit seemed simplest and affordable. A bit of adjustment was needed to get the parts in place. Holes in fender wells needed to be widened a bit with a grinder a bit but that was all. Run the nut all the way out except for 1-2 threads to get it into the hole. Carefully loosen hood nuts to maintain alignment. I had to enlarge the hole in the battery cover a bit to get the passenger side fender well support in place but that was simple. Lifts look good and work well. Cleans up the engine compartment by getting rid of the silly prop rod. Much cleaner. I also deleted the sound tube system so the engine compartment is much less busy and easier to work on.
