Application. These are not universal fit hoses you get at your local parts store, this set of Russell Stainless Steel braided hoses are designed to be a direct fit upgrade replacement for the front and rear of the 1999 to 2004 4.6L V8 SVT Cobra Mustang.

5 2003 Cobra - jhjj Installation Time: Afternoon

        Great RACE Product

This is an excellent product for folks who take their mustang to the racetrack for autocross or lapping events where the brakes get a beating and brake system temperatures get up to extremes. I got these for my 02 GT when I upgraded to front cobra brakes (had previously swapped to an IRS and used the rear OPR lines but ended up replacing those with these). In my opinion, these are not suitable for daily driven or weekend driven mustangs that do not see regular track use and hence do not have their brake systems approach temperature extremes. Stainless lines are not as durable as rubber lines and as a result much more prone to failure/rupture/leakage in comparison to their rubber counterparts. They also require substantially more maintenance and are NOT reccomended for vehicles in climates where road salt is applied. Although these lines do shine in terms of anti-expansion properties when pushed to extremes, they are simply not needed for most vehicles as they are not subject to such conditions.

        4 2003 Cobra - StuartC

        SS Brake line kit

Increased pedal response and feel. Couldn't pass up on the lines for the price. Installed them in an afternoon bled the master cylinder and took the Terminator for a run. Great improvement over rubber stocker lines. The lines are not only stainless they are also coated with a protective sleeve. A well worth investment mod if your Cobra is heavily modded like I am. And of course the sexy look factor paired up with a big brake kit. I always shop around and compare and research for my loved Termi, AM isn't always the best deal but this time AM came through. I am impressed.

Out with Old in with New

Upgrading your mustang horsepower wise you definitely need to do something about the brakes to smooth them out and increase your braking performance. With all the new goodies and braided lines in the engine bay I decided to upgrade the brakes as well and wow what a difference!

      5 Top Rated Questions

I have an '01 GT and have upgraded to Cobra calipers/rotors in the front and rear (used the Ford Racing M-2300 kit in the rear, simple swap up front). Should I use the Cobra brake lines or the GT lines??

      • Because you upgraded to the Cobra calipers and rotors, you are going to need to use Cobra brake lines like the Russell Stainless Steel Braided Brake Line Kit - Front & Rear (99-04 Cobra).

Would these fit a GT that had the Cobra brakes?

      • The Russell Stainless Steel Braided Brake Line Kit - Front & Rear (99-04 Cobra) will work on a Mustang GT that is equipped with Cobra brakes.

Will these work on a 04 Mach 1?

      • These will not be able to fit the Mach 1 model Mustangs as this only has fitment on the Cobra models in 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003 & 2004.

I need a set of steel braided lines for a 2001 Bullitt. Please help

      • This Russell Stainless Steel Braided Brake Line Kit will not work on the 2001 Bullitt. For your Bullit, you would want to get Cobra/Mach1 lines/banjo bolts in the front, and GT lines and banjo bolts for the rear.

Do these work on '01 Bullitts or not? In the question prior to this one, it is stated they will not work on Bullitts because of the SRA. Cobras have an IRS. However, the question right above that states they will work with a Mustang GT equipped with Cobra brakes. Mustang GT's have a solid rear axle. Therefore, these two answer directly contradict one another. Please clear this up for everyone.

      • The Russell Stainless Steel Braided Brake Line Kit - Front & Rear will not work on a 01 Bullitt if you still have the stock brake calipers on your vehicle. If you upgrade your brake system to the 99-04 Cobra's then these will fit. The rear brake calipers are the the same on the Cobra's and Gt's, so the rear axle style will not make a difference. The front brake calipers are different from the GT's and Cobras. You would need the Cobra front brake calipers and brake set up on your Bullitt or GT to be able to use these brake lines since they have a different fitting.
