    More Power and Torque. The SLP X-Pipe uses free-flowing mandrel-bent tubing with a genuine X style crossover and high-flow catalytic converters to provide a significant increase in horsepower and torque over the restrictive stock catted pipes.

    Race Car Growl. This free flowing SLP x-pipe for the 1996 to 1998 Mustang's not only increases power, but it also adds a raspy, race car growl to the sound of your exhaust with its modern "X" crossover pipe design.

    Upgradable Modular Design. SLP's exclusive three-piece modular design makes it possible to easily upgrade to SLP's Long-Tube Headers without the need of purchasing a brand new X-Pipe by just removing the down pipes. This unique modular design also makes it easy to install this X-Pipe on your Mustang with just basic hand tools.

    Quality Stainless Steel Construction. Constructed entirely from 2.5" mandrel bent stainless steel tubing for improved exhaust flow, this SLP Mid Pipe features a true "X" crossover, not a poor-flowing clam shell imitation that other companies use. The included SLP High flow cats far out perform the restrictive stock catalytic converters to increase rear wheel horsepower and torque.

    Application. This Catted X-Pipe from SLP is designed as a direct bolt-on for the 1996-1998 GT and 1996-1998 SVT Cobra Mustangs with either aftermarket short tube headers or the stock manifolds and a dual catback exhaust installed.

    I have a automatic 96 mustang gt, and when I was looking at the BBK Catted X-Pipe it said in the description that it did not fit automatic transmissions. It this the same way or will it fit right on? I am fairly new to all of this so I do not know what else to be on the look out for.

    Any Texans out there know if the this X pipe with high flow cats would pass emissions in Houston?

    • We would recommend directly contacting a local emissions inspection station to confirm legality of the SLP Catted X-Pipe, as they would be the most knowledgeable in this situation.

    I just purchased a 1996 Mustang GT. It has the exhaust manifolds and a flowmaster cat back 40 series. It currently has a Pypes H-pipe(no cat). I have the original exhaust. I live in upstate NY and it will not pass emissions inspection as is. What do you suggest for a midpipe? The SLP catted, Pypes catted, add cats to the H pipe I have, or put on the original 6 cat mid pipe?

    • The SLP Catted X-Pipe as well as other aftermarket catted x-pipes may still not pass emission in states with strict emissions standards due to the catalytic converters being high-flow. If your state is very strict, we would recommend using a mid-pipe with non-high-flow converters.

    Wanted to know if this would pass smog here in california ? Also if the mil eliminaters will be needed for the check engine light ?

    • MIL eliminators will not be necessary because this X pipe is catted however the cats on this X pipe are not California legal.

    Installation Concerns I bought my Cobra back in November, and the Catalytic Converters have went because of the awful Stock H-pipe, I'm looking into a new mid pipe for the car and was wondering if this would fit replacing the stock H-pipe with the rest of the exhaust being stock.

    • Should fit fine for stock exhaust manifolds or shorty headers

      Love it!

      Eliminates the gasoline smell and my car still has a loud aggressive sound even with the high flow cats!

      Nice xpipe

      Great sound and still passes emissions! Was a little tricky to install on jack stands and I had to grind out one of the flanges to line up with my stock manifolds. Overall nice system.

      Great sound!!

      The x-pipe and Loudmouth exhaust are awesome. They really sound amazing. I can't believe its the same car. Well worth the money. Brings a huge smile to my face everytime I start up my Cobra and drive it around.

      great sound and flexibility but hangs too low

      Pros Exhaust sound Flexibility with being able to swap the cats for straight pipes Cons Fitment Hangs way to low compared with stock After years of having this on. Finally got fed up with the bad fitment and rubbing on everything. Gonna spend the extra money and get a magnaflow which has the provisions for the factory bracket in my 96 gt.

      Sound great with the lm's on my vert.

      Well... Recently installed on my 97 gt convertible that already had the LM'S cat back on it. Love the quality and the sound. However it's not a good idea if you plan on lowering or are already lowered. They definitely sit lower than what I like. I'm lowered 1.75 inches and speed bumps are a no-no. Without the cats would save a couple inches but with my vert I'm afraid it will be a little loud for the kids. The cats are easily removable though.

      Do not buy if you car is Lowered

      These pipes hand REALLY low, I had less than 1 1/2 inches between the ground and the cats, and they sit substantially lower that the stock exhaust, about two inches lower in fact. Needless to say they last me about a week before i more or less high centered it trying to get over a speed bump and completely destroyed the passenger side catalytic. You can do a search on this and see that this is a design flaw in the product and not a issue on only a couple. Spend the extra money and buy a BBK or a Bassani, they fit much better.

      SLP X Pipe

      Had this professionally installed on my 1996 Cobra. Had some clearance issues on the left frame rail. Had to go back and have it modified due to rubbing the frame.

      Sounds BadA**

      Paired this x-pipe with slp lm1 and it sounds soooo good. didn't seem very loud in the car, most of the noise is out the back. Had a friend drive mine while i followed him and it makes some sweet noise starting around 2500 rpm. Will definately buy slp for future mustangs as well. And as always fast/free shipping from AM.

      It would help out a lot if they would say in the directions that it was going to be such a pain to get the stock cats off the car, and if you dont have a compressor and impact gun good luck. Also pre-spraying everything with a penetrating oil to start with will greatly increase the speed at which these bolts will come off the car. Look and tone of product great.

      SLP catted x-pipe

      1998 Mustang GT- Easy to install and adjust, way harder to remove factory H-Pipe. The Tone Is absolutely perfect, you get alot of heads turned and compliments, I have my x-pipe paired with the American Thunder Cat-back. I would recomend this pipe to all Mustang owners.

      SLP X PIPE

      This X pipe sounds great and if you have to have cats for emissions this is the mid pipe you want. when they say easy install they mean it. It was 10X easier to install than to get that stock H Pipe off.

      SLP X Pipe w/cats

      Installed on a 98 Cobra. Completely impressed. Item is 10-12 pounds lighter than stock, reduces heat, good fit, EXCELLENT sound (coupled to Flowmasters), louder but not overly loud or droning, no vibrations, exhaust note is clean and sharp. Huge upgrade over the stock pipe(which has pre-cats). The pipe made NOTICABLE power.

      This is a great three piece mid-pipe from SLP. The performance gain was felt in my 98 gt. With mine i also got the race pipe inserts which allows you to take out the cats to make a off road Xpipe. I would highly recommend this product to anyone! And of course has the best shipping times than anyone!
