Ultra Summer Performance. The Sumitomo High Performance HTR Z offers amazing performance in the summer for any Mustang. Utilizing a unique, directional tread pattern and innovative stability features, the HTR Z is perfectly at home on the track or the street.

Race-Inspired Tread. The HTR Z gets its unparalleled grip from its directional tread pattern, which incorporates independent intermediate blocks and a continuous center rib to enhance dry grip and stability in the corners. Four circumferential grooves remove water from the contact patch to give constant grip and to resist hydroplaning.

Summer Compound and Strength. The HTR Z uses a softer, stickier compound to enhance traction in the warm months. Spirally wrapped Jointless nylon bands enhance high-speed durability and minimize weight to improve ride uniformity and acceleration.

Application. The Sumitomo High Performance HTR Z Tire is specifically designed as a track and street tire for any 2005-2017 Ford Mustang.

If using this tire in a drag or track environment during cold weather, we strongly recommend performing a pre-run burnout to nominalize the tread compound's temperature.

Great cheap tire.

Excellent tire for the money. Grabs well, but also cut loose when you want them to. The second set I've had on my Bullitt. I will buy these again.

Longevity compared to Nitto555's Hello, I'm looking at a set of new rear tires for my 2004 GT, I drive about 100miles a day and the tires lasting is rather important to and I currently have Sumi 315/35/17's on the rear at the moment and have been pretty happy with them. They do have a little road noise to them but not totally sure if thats due to the tread being really wore down at this point, turn the tunes up and no more noise ;) I have had them on the back close to a year and half and have been very pleased, but being that the drivers rear has a plug in it due to a flat many months ago... really needing this corrected and been very lucky with them. But was curious how the Nitto's hold up compared to the Sumi's, I have been very pleased with them thus far so just trying to compare apples to apples. Not sure if the Nittos' are designed with more of a soft compound and not last very long compared to the Sumi's. So just trying to the best bang for the buck... no money tree here!

KrazyPony

  • Being that longevity is definitely your main concern and for such a large tire, you will want to stick with the Sumitomo rather than switch to the NT555's. Reason being exactly what you already stated: Nitto's have a softer compound and while they offer a bit more performance over the Sumitomo, they don't last quiet as long in the grand scheme of things. Hope this helped to verify your already accurate thoughts!!

Currently have 315/35/17 all seasons on back, would these fit my 03 Cobra Termi? Looking for more grip on the streets during Summer months. Moded to 480rwhp and 4.1 gears. Basically all im doing is spinning firsts gear. Suggestions

  • A 315/35/17 is the widest tire we recommend for the IRS Cobra. This does require low profile subframe bolts.

I've had these 315/35/17 tires for 16,000 miles now and they have just a little under half their tread left. I drive very aggressive and considering they're the cheapest tire on the market in this size, they're holding up amazingly. They are priced right considering the free shipping and look forward to buying two more in this size in the near future.

    For the $$$

The tires are just as advertised. These look good, and match up well with the Goodyears I have on the front. Traction isn't a problem on wet pavement, and the overall handling on the turns is greatly improved. For the money there a great buy.

    Sumitomo Tires

I was a little unsure of these tires when I first bought them. However after driving them on one of the curviest roads in my area I am completely satisfied. They hug the road tight and corner better than any tire I have ever driven on. I would highly reccomend then to anyone without hesitation.

    Good tire, great value.

I have to say, this is a good tire. and web price is brought into the equation the HTR becomes a GREAT tire. I have these in the rear if my '96 GT vert. Laying down all 342lbs. Of torque is no longer a problem at the lights, rarely do I spin them but when I do they put on a show that's almost unfair, lots of smoke, little wear. They ride smooth and quite, very solid through the turns. Much better than my old coopers that cist 3x as much per tire. As far as rain goes, they're great. I can easily do 75 in heavy rain they do "plow" through the rain. 2months in and haven't hydroplanned yet.

    Suck-itomo

I put 315/35/17 on the rear of my 2003 Mustang Mach1 because I read reviews saying they'd help with traction. Wrong! These tires spin as bad as the factory gatorbacks. Having said that, they do feel very stable, may have improved cornering, and don't seem to have added any noise. The ride has suffered a bit, however. If you want a cheap 315/35 tire, this is probably it, but don't expect performance improvement.

    Sumitomo HTR Z tires

I am very pleased with the Sumitomo HTR Z tires that I recently purchased. I put the 275/40-17 in the rear on a 17x9 Antracite wheel and they look great. They are about appare to be about 1" wider then the 245/45-17 stock tires that I have on the front giving a very aggressive staggered look. The Mustang stock center caps do fit a bit loose on the aftermarket Wheels.

    Great Tire

I ordered a tire/wheel package for my '02 and did the installion on Thursday night. Was forced to panic stop for a dear on Friday morning from 55 mph on a wet road. Had no problem stopping; never lost traction, and handling was great. I'm sold.

    New rubber.

Bought these to go with the Cobra Deep Dish wheels. The handling was quite improved over the previous tires, no more under-steer! Traction is greatly improved, and they feel fine in the wet. Only slight problem is they rub on the front sway bar at full lock. A set of 1/4" spacers might be in order.... Would happily buy these tires again. Thanks AM! Matthew

Review from Sumitomo High Performance HTR Z Tire - 315/35R17 (94-04 All)

    Great

Put these on my rear 10.5" Bullit rims, and I love them. It seems like my car has a hardly time with uneven driving surfaces, but what are you gonna do? With the stock tires I used to be able to make my V6 fish tail in the rain when I took a turn, but not with these in the back. They stick like glue to the road. I'm not even sure I can peel out anymore. I haven't tried very hard, but so far my car's 0-60 has improved slightly thanks to the fact that it just takes off instead of the tires crying for a couple of seconds before sticking. Also, the stance on these tires from the rear is huge. I had a guy flag me at an intersection to tell me that my car (from the back with the wide tires) looks "bada**". The best part about that compliment is that in the lane next to me was a driver and his Saleen Mustang, and I just have a standard with a few visual mods. I would go with the wider rim/tire combo including these, even if you just have a V6. 'Stangs are torquey cars, and every little bit helps to put the power to the ground.

I have had the Sumitomo HTR-Z 245/45R17\'s on for about 2,000 miles now and I am completely satisfied. They were an upgrade for me from the stock 16\" tires. They hug the road and handling is amazing with these tires, both on dry roads and wet. I highly recommend these tires and I highly recommend American Muscle!

With Great Speed, Comes Great Grip...

Alright, so Basically if you are looking for a awesome deal on awesome street tires, here you go! Very affordable, look amazing, and handle as good as they look. They tread water well, and are smooth on normal roads. I live in Ohio, and there is of course, plenty of snow in the winter seasons. These tires actually do very well in the snow too! Even before installing my LSD, I was tearing through snow that I spun out in with Fuzions the year before! You want good tires for cheap? Buy these... no wait, better yet... buy 4 ;D
