Ultra Summer Performance. The Sumitomo High Performance HTR Z offers amazing performance in the summer for any Mustang. Utilizing a unique, directional tread pattern and innovative stability features, the HTR Z is perfectly at home on the track or the street.

Race-Inspired Tread. The HTR Z gets its unparalleled grip from its directional tread pattern, which incorporates independent intermediate blocks and a continuous center rib to enhance dry grip and stability in the corners. Four circumferential grooves remove water from the contact patch to give constant grip and to resist hydroplaning.

Summer Compound and Strength. The HTR Z uses a softer, stickier compound to enhance traction in the warm months. Spirally wrapped Jointless nylon bands enhance high-speed durability and minimize weight to improve ride uniformity and acceleration.

Application. The Sumitomo High Performance HTR Z Tire is specifically designed as a track and street tire for any Ford Mustang.

NOTE: This is a high-performance tire intended for use during summer months or warm temperatures only. Use during cold weather will greatly reduce performance, traction and handling, and greatly increase stopping distance. If using this tire in a drag or track environment during cold weather, we strongly recommend performing a pre-run burnout to nominalize the tread compound's temperature.

Longevity compared to Nitto555's Hello, I'm looking at a set of new rear tires for my 2004 GT, I drive about 100miles a day and the tires lasting is rather important to and I currently have Sumi 315/35/17's on the rear at the moment and have been pretty happy with them. They do have a little road noise to them but not totally sure if thats due to the tread being really wore down at this point, turn the tunes up and no more noise ;) I have had them on the back close to a year and half and have been very pleased, but being that the drivers rear has a plug in it due to a flat many months ago... really needing this corrected and been very lucky with them. But was curious how the Nitto's hold up compared to the Sumi's, I have been very pleased with them thus far so just trying to compare apples to apples. Not sure if the Nittos' are designed with more of a soft compound and not last very long compared to the Sumi's. So just trying to the best bang for the buck... no money tree here!

    KrazyPony

    • Being that longevity is definitely your main concern and for such a large tire, you will want to stick with the Sumitomo rather than switch to the NT555's. Reason being exactly what you already stated: Nitto's have a softer compound and while they offer a bit more performance over the Sumitomo, they don't last quiet as long in the grand scheme of things. Hope this helped to verify your already accurate thoughts!!

Hi i have a 2003 gt i put 2 10.5 in rims on the back currently i have 315/35 tires on it but that sizes make the car look to low on the back wat size. Can i put on the back to cover that gap that is showing and to make it look a little higher on the back wats the next size?

    OscarC

    • The next tire size up in height would be a 315/40R17, This tire would be approximately 26.9" tall compared to the 315/35R17's 25.7" in height.

What is the recommended psi for these?

    AustenM

    • The recommended PSI is going to be located inside of your door jam. It is highly recommended to go by that for the correct PSI recommendation.

Currently have some 17x10.5 cobra R wheels for 02 Mustang GT. Will these fit it? I already removed the quad shocks so they don’t rub in the rear.

    Chris

    • Yes, you would be able to fit these 315/35R17 tires on that 17x10.5" wheel.

Currently have 315/35/17 all seasons on back, would these fit my 03 Cobra Termi? Looking for more grip on the streets during Summer months. Moded to 480rwhp and 4.1 gears. Basically all im doing is spinning firsts gear. Suggestions

    JeremyW

    • A 315/35/17 is the widest tire we recommend for the IRS Cobra. This does require low profile subframe bolts.

Can't wait to check out these tires, got some good feedback about the Sumitomo 275's, just waiting for them to get here so I can slap them on and see what kind of traction I get.

      Super Sumi’s

These tires are fantastic. Good prices, good rubber, and good thread pattern. I put 17 inch 315’s in back and 245’s on front. Eloise is hugging curves like never before. Very good product

      Great traction

4.10 gears with an auto transmission tuned by bama, shifts extremely hard and the tires hold down the traction. I put the 275’s on my stock Bullitts. Look great, feel great.

Review from Sumitomo High Performance HTR Z Tire - 315/35R17 (94-04 All)

Where the rubber meets the road

These tires are very notable for the price. My Mustang pushes 400 rwhp, and 550 ft lbs of torque. These tires hold up very well. They ride smooth, handle well in the corners, and feel safe in the rain. As with any tires once they get hot and sticky they grip a heck of alot tighter. It makes donuts an effort lol. They do break loose a little on launches but thats to be expected. I will definetely be buying aa full set of them again.

      A decent tire

The tires look good and perform nicely. Road noise is about what I expected, not disturbingly loud but you can hear them. On a rainy day they tend to slide (back tires) and the fronts sometimes lift in puddles. Overall though I like the ride they give me.

      Great Tires

Bought mine on a package deal. Wheels and tires. Great ride and handling. I don't power drive, but, have not lost dry traction yet. In the rain, in places I had to be very careful, with these tires, I don't even know the road is wet. I intend to buy a set for my other car as soon as it need new ones. Love them.
