    Review & Install Video

Hi I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com and this is our appearance bolt on build up for all 2011 and newer V6 Mustangs. These newer generation V6’s have come a long way from previous generations and honestly aren’t all that different from GTs. The performance is great, and the styling differences are subtle enough, that to an untrained eye you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference between a GT and its 6 cylinder sibling. So why put together different appearance packs? Well, because we want to embrace the subtle differences which make the V6 unique, while improving them at the same time. In the end, I think you’ll see why, appearance wise, we think our race bred 2011 V6, is about to make a lot of GTs jealous. MMD has really been cranking out some must have parts for the Mustang lately, some of which have found their way onto our 2011 here. First up we have their pre-painted retro style mirrors, that get rid of the generic style mirrors typically found on the factory V6. In additional to further increase that retro vibe, we also went with the pre-painted side scoop, it just pays tribute to the GT 350’s and the GT500’s from the 1960’s. Those first two parts were great but this third part from MMD really transformed the entire car in my opinion. I’m talking about their pre-painted quarter window kit, that as you can see really gives the car a cool fast back sort of look. In fact when I first saw the car I was reminded of the super rare Iacocca Mustang, that we had in here for the calendar shoot. Either way, this pre-painted MMD kit is a great way to show you that sometimes a small part can go a very long way when it comes to your exterior appearance. We couldn’t do an appearance build and not include some aftermarket lighting from Raxiom, first up we went with their smoked aero tail lights, which are a huge improvement over the factory tail lights in my opinion. As you can see they’ve relocated the reverse light to the bottom of the housing, which totally cleans up the entire look. That’s just the rear of the car, let’s take a look at what Raxiom has for us up front. It’s no secret we’re big fans of Raxiom’s smoked halo headlights, and with all the other smoked lights on the car, we figured these would be a no brainer. In addition to these headlights, we also went for this OE style foglight kit. Unfortunately, our V6 was not equipped with the Pony package, so we missed our opportunity to grab these from the factory. Thanks to this kit our V6 now sports a very sleek set of foglights, complete with all the wiring and even a factory switch to make this a seamless install. Finally we have the centerpiece of our appearance build, this gloss black, 19” AMR wheels, along with some new tires from Sumitomo. If there’s one area in particular the V6’s are lacking in appearance, it’s the wheels, the sizes are pretty weak, the design says more sedan than sports car, so by tossing out those factory cookie cutter wheels, and adding a set of these tough looking staggered AMR’s, well, we’ve not only single handedly changed the attitude of the entire car, but we also gave the car a stance any muscle car would be proud of. Well, that wraps up the appearance build here with our 2011, as you can see we put the race back into our race red V6 by adding a bunch of parts and vinyl, that completely cranked up the aggressive styling to the point where any Mustang fan would be hard pressed to guess if this was a V6, a GT, or something even more sinister. Hey, we’ve got some other great bolt on builds ups for the 2011 and up V6 where we increase the performance and acceleration, and improve our handling.

V6 Pony Package Styling. Now you can add "Pony Package" style fog lights to your very own V6 Mustang for aggressive good looks and better night visibility with this complete kit from Raxiom.

Better Visibility. This Raxiom V6 fog light kit was engineered to allow the fog lights to stay illuminated when the high beams are switched on for better visibility, unlike the stock fog lights that turn off when the high beams are activated.

Auto Headlamps. The OEM Ford switch included in this Raxiom kit replaces your stock V6 headlight switch and gives your Mustang the Auto Headlamp feature. Auto Headlamps uses a light sensitive sensor that is already installed in your vehicle to automatically turn your head lights ON or OFF based on outdoor light conditions (when enabled).

OEM Fit and Finish. Designed to install easily by plugging directly into the existing stock wiring harness, this Raxiom V6 Fog Light Kit seamlessly integrates into the cars front fascia for a clean, factory style appearance. That means there is no drilling or wire cutting required for installation.

Kit includes. This Raxiom OEM Style V6 Fog Light kit includes OEM fog lights with H11 bulbs, fog light bezels, high quality wiring harness with relay, fuses and mounting hardware, OEM headlight/fog light switch with Auto Headlamps feature, and a detailed 5 page installation manual.

Application. This Raxiom OEM Style Fog Light kit is specifically designed to easily add factory style "Pony Package" fog lights to any 2010 to 2012 V6 Ford Mustang.

Does the kit add auto headlamp feature if the car is a V6 base with NO package? The description states that this kit "Includes OEM HeadLight/Fog Light switch with Auto Headlamp" and "Auto Headlamps uses a light sensitive sensor that is already installed in your vehicle to automatically turn your head lights ON or OFF based on outdoor light conditions (when enabled)". So if my car is a 2012 V6 base, with NO package added, is that light sensitive sensor still installed on my car? In other words, will the kit still add an auto headlamp feature to my car even if it is a base model with no package? Do the fog lights have to stay on with the parking light? Or can it be turned on individually(or stay switched on all the time)? If yes, how to do that?

        • I didn't have the auto head option in my vehicle either but once the new switch was wired and installed, my heads lights are auto. The fog lights are turned on by pulling the switch out and if the switch is in the auto detect postion with the fog lights on they to will turn on and off automatically (Fog and Headlights). During the install the instructions say to cut an X in the boot left of the brake booster, but if you look to the right there is a black hole plug that goes straight through the firewall and is directly behind the headlight switch. I just cut the X in that plug and ran the wires that away.

My Mustang does not have fog lights and I am very interested in installing these on mine. My question is, are the H11 bulbs they come with, are they LED or standard halogen bulbs? Also, if these are not LED bulbs that come with the kit is it possible to replace the bulbs with LED bulbs? Thank you.

        • The H11 bulbs this kit comes with will be standard halogen. We do carry the conversion kit however, which you can find here: http://www.americanmuscle.com/raxiom-h11-led-conversion-kit.html

So I own these fog lights they do great but sometimes I drive down some really dark roads and I want to know if there’s anything you offer that can help me put more light on the road without having to put a gt bumper on to fit a gt grill so I can mount lights in the grill of my 2010 v6

        • If you are looking for a specific set up, please give us a call and one of our staff members would be happy to help you get the most out of your lights!

What is the diameter of the fog light? Is it 3” or 4”

        • They will be 3 inches in diameter.

I have these fog lights on my car a 2010 v6 mustang and it had them on when I purchase the car and I’m going to covert to Hid and go with HID 13 headlight bulbs and I’m asking if the H11 fog lights bulbs that I bought can fit in this housing?? I read the description of the H11 bulbs it says they should fit in a under front number oem fog lights. They should arrive this week. If they don’t fit I’m just either sell the H11 or buy grill mount fog lights.

        • The Raxiom OEM Style Fog Light Kit will accept any H11 Halogen or LED bulbs. HID bulbs are not compatible and will void the warranty.

How do these work in Canada? In Canada everyone legally has to have daytime running lights, so as soon as I release the e-brake the front headlights turn on. I'm basically wondering if anyone in Canada has installed these and how they work? If they also turn on with the headlights, if they turn on instead of the headlights, or if the new switch included overrides the standard daytime running lights all together... any help is appreciated! Great purchase!

The fit is perfect, the appearance is great, the placement of the fog lights are functionally perfect! They are a little on the high side of my price range for the assemblies however, the instructions for install were decent. Anyone with general working knowledge and critical thinking skills can figure it out in an hour or less! I do recommend removing the bumper for easier installation.

            Amazingly simple upgrade

My V6 base convertible didn't have auto or fog lights and since I am surrounded by rivers fog lights are always handy. This kit was easy to install in about 1 1/2 hours. Detailed instructions from Raxiom were great. Adjustment was a slight pain because the lights came in the down position. A little priceey but worth it,

            Perfect fit

The sizing was true. No modifications were needed. Everything looks like it was factory installed. Upgraded the bulbs to LED prior to install and I light up the night... Visibility 5 Stars because of the LED upgrade only. 3 Stars on value because I had to upgrade to LED through another vendor. Would definitely recommend this kit. My install included a headlight kit upgrade so I had to pull the front end, was nice and easy to wire as a result but a lot of extra time.

            More Than Just Fog Lights

This was the first vehicle modification I did that involved wiring. After installing them, not only did I get a better front end, but it made me realizing that wiring-type of mods aren't that bad. These fog lights are a great addition to any 3.7 that wanna stand out a bit more. Took me around 2-3 hours to install.

Do Not Buy -- You'll Get A Set That Doesnt Work!

The lights took about 2.5 hours to install. But, at the end, the lights don't work. American Muscle said they couldn't provide trouble shooting support and I would have to remove them completely - yes wiring harness and all - and send them back to American Muscle and they would a replacement set within 7 to 10 days. there's more. Before I removed them I had to have a shop trouble shoot them again and write a "Shop Report" or they wouldn't process as a defective set. So I began trouble-shooting, 12v power - yes. 12v to the switch - yes. 12v to the relays - yes. All connections tight -- yes. 12v to lights -- no. All fuses good -- yes. Well, replace anyway. I called a friend who owns a high performance/off road shop. I described my trouble-shooting results and he said sounds like a bad wire in the harness to the lights. All of the parts are made in China. Even the wiring harness. I will spend an afternoon removing the lights. If I get another set, I'll spend another afternoon reinstalling. I asked American Muscle - hey, just send me a replacement set and I can remove and reinstall the same day. They said, no. They said that they were sorry their product did not work and that I would have to spend another day reinstalling and that I had to get a "Shop Report". Why the Report? --- "We just have to be covered on our end." Yes- that's the real quote. Didn't they care about my time? No. Expense of the Shop Report? No. If I could give 0 stars overall, I would. They do look good in the bumper and they do fit. I would give 0 stars for Bang for your Buck and definitely 0 stars for Visibility. I am saying 8 hours of labor -- that's 2.5 to install x2 for 5 hours of "total installation" 2 hours to remove and 1 hour for the Shop Report. So, buy these if you feel lucky. Otherwise get ready to spend a lot of time with your car.

Nice addition to plain front bumper.

Fog lamps were easy to install and look very nice. Although there is an adjustment knob to adjust the aim of the lights, mine were already aimed perfectly after install. If I was forced to make a complaint I would say that the screws used to attach the actual lights to the bumper seemed like they were made out of cheap metal (easily stripped with screwdriver). Other than that, aside from being kind of pricey, a good product and addition to a plain V6 bumper.

            Perfect

These lights are spot on. Easier than I thought it would be to install. At first it seemed a touch overwhelming as I unpacked the box and popped my hood, but if you read through everything and stay methodical and organized you can do it in an hour. Took me an hour and 15 minutes. I never did anything like this before and this project boosted my confidence as well as taught me a little bit about my car. Looking forward to the next do-it-yourself upgrade on my 2012.

Great product, everything went as planned, but it did take longer than I thought. screws wouldn't tighten well, so I finally used 1/4'' x 1 1/2'' stove bolts with nylon locknuts to make then much sturdier. all in all they are great and the new switch is perfect. well worth the money.

The fog lights look great. They add style to the front of the Mustang. The installation instructions were easy to read and follow. The only thing I would change would be the bulbs. With most cars going to the LED bulbs I would change them to LED as well. Approx. 3hrs. to install.
