- How to Install a Raxiom OEM Style Fog Light Kit on your 2010-2012 Mustang V6
Hi I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com and this is our appearance bolt on build up for all 2011 and newer V6 Mustangs. These newer generation V6’s have come a long way from previous generations and honestly aren’t all that different from GTs. The performance is great, and the styling differences are subtle enough, that to an untrained eye you’d be hard pressed to tell the difference between a GT and its 6 cylinder sibling. So why put together different appearance packs? Well, because we want to embrace the subtle differences which make the V6 unique, while improving them at the same time. In the end, I think you’ll see why, appearance wise, we think our race bred 2011 V6, is about to make a lot of GTs jealous. MMD has really been cranking out some must have parts for the Mustang lately, some of which have found their way onto our 2011 here. First up we have their pre-painted retro style mirrors, that get rid of the generic style mirrors typically found on the factory V6. In additional to further increase that retro vibe, we also went with the pre-painted side scoop, it just pays tribute to the GT 350’s and the GT500’s from the 1960’s. Those first two parts were great but this third part from MMD really transformed the entire car in my opinion. I’m talking about their pre-painted quarter window kit, that as you can see really gives the car a cool fast back sort of look. In fact when I first saw the car I was reminded of the super rare Iacocca Mustang, that we had in here for the calendar shoot. Either way, this pre-painted MMD kit is a great way to show you that sometimes a small part can go a very long way when it comes to your exterior appearance. We couldn’t do an appearance build and not include some aftermarket lighting from Raxiom, first up we went with their smoked aero tail lights, which are a huge improvement over the factory tail lights in my opinion. As you can see they’ve relocated the reverse light to the bottom of the housing, which totally cleans up the entire look. That’s just the rear of the car, let’s take a look at what Raxiom has for us up front. It’s no secret we’re big fans of Raxiom’s smoked halo headlights, and with all the other smoked lights on the car, we figured these would be a no brainer. In addition to these headlights, we also went for this OE style foglight kit. Unfortunately, our V6 was not equipped with the Pony package, so we missed our opportunity to grab these from the factory. Thanks to this kit our V6 now sports a very sleek set of foglights, complete with all the wiring and even a factory switch to make this a seamless install. Finally we have the centerpiece of our appearance build, this gloss black, 19” AMR wheels, along with some new tires from Sumitomo. If there’s one area in particular the V6’s are lacking in appearance, it’s the wheels, the sizes are pretty weak, the design says more sedan than sports car, so by tossing out those factory cookie cutter wheels, and adding a set of these tough looking staggered AMR’s, well, we’ve not only single handedly changed the attitude of the entire car, but we also gave the car a stance any muscle car would be proud of. Well, that wraps up the appearance build here with our 2011, as you can see we put the race back into our race red V6 by adding a bunch of parts and vinyl, that completely cranked up the aggressive styling to the point where any Mustang fan would be hard pressed to guess if this was a V6, a GT, or something even more sinister. Hey, we’ve got some other great bolt on builds ups for the 2011 and up V6 where we increase the performance and acceleration, and improve our handling.

It took an afternoon to get done, but it was worth it. If you don’t have access to a lift, investing in a good pair of car ramps is key to getting under your Mustang. A second pair of “eyes” to review your hook ups and wiring is always a good idea. At the end of the day, adding these fog lights will beef up the appearance of your Mustang and increases your visibility at night.Helpful (0)

The fit is perfect, the appearance is great, the placement of the fog lights are functionally perfect! They are a little on the high side of my price range for the assemblies however, the instructions for install were decent. Anyone with general working knowledge and critical thinking skills can figure it out in an hour or less! I do recommend removing the bumper for easier installation.Helpful (0)

Amazingly simple upgrade
My V6 base convertible didn't have auto or fog lights and since I am surrounded by rivers fog lights are always handy. This kit was easy to install in about 1 1/2 hours. Detailed instructions from Raxiom were great. Adjustment was a slight pain because the lights came in the down position. A little priceey but worth it,Helpful (0)

The sizing was true. No modifications were needed. Everything looks like it was factory installed. Upgraded the bulbs to LED prior to install and I light up the night... Visibility 5 Stars because of the LED upgrade only. 3 Stars on value because I had to upgrade to LED through another vendor. Would definitely recommend this kit. My install included a headlight kit upgrade so I had to pull the front end, was nice and easy to wire as a result but a lot of extra time.Helpful (1)

The fog light kit was very easy to install and it adds that look that the mustang was missingHelpful (1)
Does the kit add auto headlamp feature if the car is a V6 base with NO package? The description states that this kit "Includes OEM HeadLight/Fog Light switch with Auto Headlamp" and "Auto Headlamps uses a light sensitive sensor that is already installed in your vehicle to automatically turn your head lights ON or OFF based on outdoor light conditions (when enabled)". So if my car is a 2012 V6 base, with NO package added, is that light sensitive sensor still installed on my car? In other words, will the kit still add an auto headlamp feature to my car even if it is a base model with no package? Do the fog lights have to stay on with the parking light? Or can it be turned on individually(or stay switched on all the time)? If yes, how to do that?
I didn't have the auto head option in my vehicle either but once the new switch was wired and installed, my heads lights are auto. The fog lights are turned on by pulling the switch out and if the switch is in the auto detect postion with the fog lights on they to will turn on and off automatically (Fog and Headlights). During the install the instructions say to cut an X in the boot left of the brake booster, but if you look to the right there is a black hole plug that goes straight through the firewall and is directly behind the headlight switch. I just cut the X in that plug and ran the wires that away.
My Mustang does not have fog lights and I am very interested in installing these on mine. My question is, are the H11 bulbs they come with, are they LED or standard halogen bulbs? Also, if these are not LED bulbs that come with the kit is it possible to replace the bulbs with LED bulbs? Thank you.
The H11 bulbs this kit comes with will be standard halogen. We do carry the conversion kit however, which you can find here: http://www.americanmuscle.com/raxiom-h11-led-conversion-kit.html
So I own these fog lights they do great but sometimes I drive down some really dark roads and I want to know if there’s anything you offer that can help me put more light on the road without having to put a gt bumper on to fit a gt grill so I can mount lights in the grill of my 2010 v6
If you are looking for a specific set up, please give us a call and one of our staff members would be happy to help you get the most out of your lights!
What is the diameter of the fog light? Is it 3” or 4”
They will be 3 inches in diameter.
I have these fog lights on my car a 2010 v6 mustang and it had them on when I purchase the car and I’m going to covert to Hid and go with HID 13 headlight bulbs and I’m asking if the H11 fog lights bulbs that I bought can fit in this housing?? I read the description of the H11 bulbs it says they should fit in a under front number oem fog lights. They should arrive this week. If they don’t fit I’m just either sell the H11 or buy grill mount fog lights.
The Raxiom OEM Style Fog Light Kit will accept any H11 Halogen or LED bulbs. HID bulbs are not compatible and will void the warranty.
At this time we do not offer individual components of the Raxiom OEM Style Fog Light Kit separate for the kit.
The OEM Ford switch included in this Raxiom kit replaces your stock V6 headlight switch and gives your Mustang the Auto Headlamp feature. Auto Headlamps uses a light sensitive sensor that is already installed in your vehicle to automatically turn your head lights ON or OFF based on outdoor light conditions (when enabled).
There is a light sensitive sensor already installed in your car. It is simply not enabled because nothing is going to it. When you install this kit, you will be utilizing the wires for it, which will enable this setting. On the knob, the light bulb with the "A" in it is the automatic lights. You can see the installation for this guide by following the link below. http://1.cdn.lib.americanmuscle.com/files/68120-cust.pdf
Maybe (try AM or Raxiom support) since the headlight switch gets replaced with this kit- it adds the OEM switch with auto setting, if you put the switch in auto with foglights on (pull out) during the day fogs can be used as DRL.
Yes they work with the halo light during the day. They come with atomic position switch. Get them you'll love them. Worth every cent!!
Using aftermarket headlights will not have an affect on the fitment of the Raxiom OEM Style Fog Light Kit (10-12 V6). This kit will work just fine.
I did it, but use the 35 watt. so you wont melt the housing.
The new switch has a automatic setting on it that'll automatically work with your dash sensor. Leave the switch on the auto setting with the switch pulled out, the fog lights will stay on when you start the car and turn off when you turn the car off...so basically day time running lights in a way. With your head lights on the auto position, they will hesitate for a minute before turning off...just a FYI. Hope this was helpful.
According to Geico and USAA insurance they count as day time running lights. Especially if you leave them in the auto spot with the fog lights always on...doesn't kill battery and works fine for day time running lights.
While the light system itself may work, the light housing will not fit.
