Review & Install Video

Hey, Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com and this is my review of the Vogtland Sport Plus Lowering Spring Kit for 2015 and up Fastback GTs. The Vogtland Sport Plus Lowering Springs are going to be for the S550 Fastback owners out there that are looking to go a little bit more aggressive when taking care of that stock wheel gap. The Sport Plus springs are going to drop the S550 1.3 inches all the way around, which is a touch more than the standard one-inch drop that a lot of other brands are offering. You're going to notice a pretty big difference in the before and after with these springs, when we compare these to the stock springs, even though we're talking about less than a one and a half inch drop. But these springs are going to have the body sitting evenly right above your tires, which is a really good look in my opinion, and they aren't going to drop so low that you'll have clearance issues under the car or on the tire. If you're looking to go even lower, the Eibach Sport lines are going to drop the front 1.5 inches and 1.3 inches in the rear, which will also give you more of a raked look if you prefer that. Another thing that's nice about this kit is that while you're going to be improving the looks of your S550, you're also going to notice an improvement in handling as well, which is exciting from just a spring. I can say from experience that these springs are going to reduce some body roll and help in other areas, like less squat movement when you're really laying into it or even less nosediving if you brake hard. Basically, you're lowering your center of gravity, and the car should feel more responsive in overall handling. As far as price, this kit is right in between two and three hundred dollars for a product with a handful of benefits that are valuable for any car, from the daily driver to the car that sees some occasional track time, and that's not going to give you an obnoxiously stiff ride quality. For the install, I'm going to call this a two-wrench install because you're probably looking at about four hours to get this done and, overall, it's not very difficult. You're going to want to make sure you have a jack and stands if you aren't doing this on a lift, and a spring compressor as well. And it's never a bad idea to stop in for an alignment after the install is complete. Wrapping things up here, if you're looking for a little bit more aggressive drop for your S550 Fastback GT, and you're interested in some handling improvements as well, then you should check out these Sport Plus Springs from Vogtland on the site. Do some more research, compare these to your other options, and for all things Mustang, keep it right here at AmericanMuscle.com

Performance Handling. Installing a set of Vogtland Progressive Rate Sport Plus Springs will lower your 2015-2018 S550 Fastback Mustang's center of gravity, which will help reduce squat during acceleration, body roll in the corners, and excessive nose-dive under hard braking. Vogtland Sport Springs are ideal for daily driving, street, and even occasional track use.

Lowered Muscle Car Stance. Not only does a set of Vogtland Sport Plus Springs improve the handling performance of your Mustang, but they also improve its overall appearance. By lowering the ride height approximately 1.5" in the front and 1.3" in the rear, that huge tire to fender gap is eliminated, providing your Mustang with a classic muscular stance.

Clears Stock and Aftermarket Wheels & Tires. These lowering springs were engineered to be compatible with your factory size wheels and tires, as well as AmericanMuscle's pre-configured wheel and tire combo kits (specific to your generation), to assure proper clearance with no rubbing issues.

Application. This set of four Vogtland Sport Plus Lowering Springs are specifically designed for use on 2015-2018 Fastback GT Mustang models equipped with independent rear suspension (IRS).

Technical Note. The Springs are not compatible on vehicles equipped with the MagneRide Suspension.

Ask a Question

What will I need with these springs to ensure the alignment is not thrown off/eliminate negative camber? Will caster/camber plates be needed? Will bolts by themselves work? I typically see people recommend caster/camber plates for anything more than a 1" drop, so with this being 1.3" what all will I need?

FullOfHopkins

  • With that Vogtland Sport Plus Spring Kit, we would recommend checking out caster camber plates to correct the alignment of your car after the drop.

Many other kits with a similar drop include shorter bump stops, however i noticed that this kit does not. Do i need to cut my factory bump stops and if yes, by how much? Thanks!

robin02gt

  • You will not need to cut your factory bump stops for these springs to work. The bump stops on other packages are for specific fitment of the spring on that package. This package will not need modified bump stops.

I was doing lots of research on different springs. The ride, the durability and the price. I ended up going with vogtland after some hard studying and they were the best buy. Ride is smooth, hard acceleration and braking have become less jarring with the body lowered nicely. very aggressive stance and better looking if you want to go lower then other brands. Fender gap is gone! If you are looking to break necks these are the springs for you.

Great brand. I've always ran coilovers on my cars so I was a bit iffy on the ride quality. The drop says 1.3" but it looks like more. I could be wrong since I didn't measure before and after. The install is straight forward. If you have any problems on the rear, nothing an extra set of hands and big pry bar can't fix. The fronts, never took the caliper or rotor off - still plenty of room to work with.

    Aggressive Stance

Springs have delivered what they promised. Dropped the wheel gap front and rear with compromising the ride quality. The entire feel of the car gives it a more aggressive tone that makes you feel like you're going faster than you are. Going over bumps and dips so far have caused no issues in tire/car bump. I highly recommend these springs and love the color.

    Rear springs bottom out

I bought these springs late last year. The handling is great, as is the appearance. There is however one major design flaw to these springs, the rear springs bottom out. You need not be an engineer to figure it out. Just look at the tight spacing between 6 out of the 10 springs; now compare them to another brand. Oh yeah, and it's important to note that AM has a 30 day return policy, yeah that's right 30-days.

    Vogtland impresses

I didn't think there was much room for improvement on my S550's stock handling but I was wrong. I installed (a fairly easy process) my Vogtland sport plus springs and was immediately impressed with the new aggressive look. While test driving my GT I was impressed yet again with the new confident feel and progressive handling. My S550 now feels much more sure footed and planted. These springs are worth ever penny. The perfect amount of drop in my opinion.

    Perfect Springs for the S550

I wanted to go a little lower than a 1" spring, but not quite the full 1.5" drop that other springs have. The 1.3" was the prefect amount for my performance pack GT with 1" wheel spacers. No rubbing or clearance issues. Ride quality is great, I'd say very similar to the PP springs over 90 of road bumps (the other 10 you feel that they're a little stiffer but not horrible). I would highly recommend these to anybody I know with an S550.

    Great springs...great value!

Just finished up the Vogtland Sport Plus springs and am very happy with the drop. Even more pleased with the ride and handling improvement. The car is much more locked in. I get to do my testing in the hills of Germany and the autobahn...so thanks again AM for the much needed improvement!

    Very Nice Look to car

I ordered these springs mostly for the overall look they provide. They give the car an outstanding appearance with tire rubbing issues at all. The front springs were a breeze to install with a good quality spring compressor. Be prepared to spend a while on the back ones. Its no where near as easy to get them out as some of the Youtube videos show. Nothing a ratchet strap and two good size crowbars won't do. Overall I am very satisfied.

    Spring review

Vogtland really hit a home run with these progressive rate lowering springs. I had them installed on my s550 GT and its like I traded up to a track pack. There is an amazing difference in cornering and it totally changed the appearance making it lower an SD meaner. WORTH IT 100!!!!!

    Vogtland Sport Plus Springs

I got the Vogtland Sport Plus Springs and they made a drastic improvement with the looks and ride quality of my 2015 GT. The car sits perfectly now, without that ugly stock wheel gap. Ive had them on for less than a week and Ive already gotten handfuls of compliments on them! I was worried about the ride quality, but these perform close to stock, going over bumps or cracks in the road doesnt feel like your hitting a pothole like other harsh lowering springs. The ride quality is pretty smooth without adding any cabin noise. They handle like a beast at high speeds and with cornering. I was charged $250 for the install and alignment at my local shop. Since these are over 1" I would definitely recommend an alignment after installing. Overall these are 5/5 in my book. Thanks!

Suspension is firmer but not too harsh. Ride height is great with wheel-fender gap looking like it should. Rear springs were a pain to take out. Had to move the rear sway bar out of the way to get clearance.

    Love them

These springs are great quality without a doubt. They gave it just the right amount of drop to get rid of the factory wheel gap. The ride is hardly affected, you feel bumps a little more than stock but it's nothing you can't get used to. Little to no body roll around corners anymore, the car feels very planted! Would recommend to anyone as a starter handling mod.
