    Hey, Stephanie with americanmuscle.com, and this is my quick breakdown of the Whiteline transmission mount bushing insert available for the MT-82 6-speed transmission that is found on all 2011 to '14 Mustang GTs. Whiteline is a performance suspension company whose number one goal is to activate more grip in your ride, thanks to products like sway bars, Watts link kits, and other suspension components. They also specialize in designing and producing cutting edge bushing technology, thanks to synthetic elastomer material. We've used a few of Whiteline's products in the past. Now, if you have a manual Coyote, then chances are you've already run into some of the common issues, such as high RPM lockout or lockout during aggressive cornering. This is due to the stock transmission mount and soft rubber bushing, allowing for excess transmission movement when the car is being pushed hard or when you're really trying to bang gears. This bushing insert from Whiteline eliminates the excessive play by filling small voids, strengthening the mounting location, and eliminating the high RPM issues altogether. The bushing insert itself is made from Whiteline's signature synthetic elastomer which usually does a great job of reducing noise, vibration, and harshness. I say usually, because in the case of this bushing insert, you may notice a little bit more noise inside the cabin. In fact, now is a great time to head back to the product page if you aren't there already to see what some of the customers have to say about running this bushing insert in their own ride. As far as installation goes, the site calls for two hours on this one, but a number of our customers have stated that it only takes an hour or less. This is an installation that takes place under the car, so make sure you have your jack and jack stands ready, or a lift if you're lucky enough to have access to one.     Why do i hear a loud pop periodically coming from the shifter when downshifting from third to second now that this is installed?

    Is there any part i can order to prevent the issue with the 2018 mustang gt MT82 shift forks from braking?

    • At this time we do not offer any products to reinforce the shift forks, however many performance trans shops are now offering a service to reinforce the shift forks, or replace them with stronger units of their own design.

    Since i already have the blowfish bracket, should i see a difference in shifting even if my shifter is bolted right on the transmission?

    • Yes, this bushing would reduce driveline vibration and deflection, which would also help to give a better shifting feel.

      Start with this

      I was having issues missing some shift hitting high rev lockouts and such, I was considering buying the short throw shifter but ultimately decided to start with this $30 mount over a $300 shifter. For $30 all of my problems have been resolved. Crazy easy install, literally 4 nuts, and slide the mount in

      2014 Mustang GT

      Extremely easy install with an electric impact. Just remember the bushing installs from the front towards the back by the instructions. I looked to see if there is any differences from the front and back of the transmission mount for this insert, and I did not see any, so I am not sure it really matters. Please pay attention to the transmission support when you reinstall it. There is a stamp on top side that has an arrow and it states front. Performance wise, I am not really sure it does much, but logistically it makes since.

      Huge Improvement

      The transmission up shifts and down shifts into gear much better now, especially 2nd gear. I drilled a 1 inch hole in the center as others suggested, to reduce NVH. Installing this did add some very slight vibration, but I think the slight vibration improved the feeling the car gives while driving. I feel more connected to it as a result.

      Missing gears??

      One of the best mods I've done to the car so far and a must-have if you replace the shifter and/or bracket. I've always had difficulty getting it into 5th gear at high RPM with my MGW, but this completely eliminated my "lockout" issue and made shifting into every gear a lot smoother.

      Every MT-82 needs this!!

      I had already installed a Barton shifter and bracket attempting to get rid of my third lockout, but the problem persisted. This product seems to have completely fixed it I have had it in for 2 weeks and haven’t missed a shift yet!! I am a mechanic so this was a very easy install with access to a lift.

      Big improvement

      This was easy to install and made shifts a lot more positive. It did take a little getting used to though . You can now feel the engine more in the body and shifter but now that I am accustomed to it I love it. Has the feel of a muscle car now. The shifter is now much more positive shifting. No more missed gears.

      White line solution

      It was super easy to install the white line trans.bushing in my 2018 PP.1 GT. At first the shifter was a little notchy after install but in a couple of days it was back to the same performance shifter I loved . I don't push my GT. very hard but some times I really like to burn it up 1st through 4th and with the white line bushing it has become much easier to shift in the higher rpm range . If I had to buy white line all back over again I would not give it a second thought .It is made for performance like my GT.

      Nice feel, nvh not bad

      First thing I did was drill a 3/4 hole in it because I didn’t want alot of NVH. Install was a breeze once you find torque specs. Shift feeling is a little firmer. The whole car has a slight vibration from 2-3k rpm. But I’m young and don’t mind it. Over all not much difference, but I can feel it. Worth the $30 PS this thing smells really weird once you open the bag...

      Best mod for the stock shifter ever.

      This mod is platinum-status. I have been driving my new mustang gt for a year now, and I thought i forgot how to drive standard. It was hard to put the car in reverse, first-gear, and third. It was like some days were better than others. Took the car to ford and they said nothing was wrong and the mechanic told me just work on your shifting. I have driven standard since i was 17, and I'm 36 now. I knew something was wrong. I found this little rubber piece of heaven on American Muscle describing the same issues i was having. I ordered it, put my car on Jack stands, grabbed the whiteline bushing, greased it up, put in on, and immediately felt the difference in daily driving and hard passes. A note on installing... Don't give up!!! It does fit the area, just keep inching it in until it seats flush.

      What you would expect

      While I was installing the Barton Hybrid 3 and Magnaflow Competition Exhaust (both are must haves), slipped this into place. Didn't receive grease, but it honestly slide in with a little bit of hand force. Barton is body mounted, shifts are super quick and engaging. Inset fills the factory void. Somebody else said it best "its 40 bucks of noticeable difference". Would I buy/install again - you betcha.

      Inexpensive yet effective

      Easy install, less than an hour. Just make sure you have the correct torques for the transmission crossmember and mount. Bushing reduces transmission/body flex and and shifts feel more accurate and smooth with this bushing install. If you plan on doing any work underneath your Mustang, you'd be smart to throw this in there while your under there. This part along with a solid mount shifter will significatly increase shifting effeciency and prolong the life of your syncrhos/ transmission.

      Easy improvement

      Got this installed when i got the boss side pipes installed on my 11 GT. It took the mechanic all of 2 whole minutes to detach the trans brace, slide it in, and rebolt the trans brace onto the car. Can notice crisper shifts when going around corners especially the 2-3 shift.

      Fills the void

      Haven’t driven yet after installing. After seeing how much empty space is in the rubber transmission mount bushing; I can’t see how this would do anything but firm up the transmission movement under spirited driving conditions. Should be a good upgrade for the money.

      Cheapest upgrade, best result!!!

      After adding the Barton 2 post bracket (which helped tremendously), changing the transmission fluid the BG syncro shift II (also very helpful), I was pleasantly surprised to find that this bushing was the final piece of the puzzle to turn my mt82 into the smooth/reliable/consistent transmission I’d hoped to get. There is a slight increase in NVH, but it is a small price to pay for the dramatic improvement in shifting. No more missed shifts between 1st and 2nd (Barton fixed the 2nd to 3rd issue). Camaros beware - 500 rwhp with perfect shifts!!!
