If the bearing doesn't come with a race, where can I get one? Or will the C L rear gear pinion bearing fit and work will with the ford performance high torque install and bearing kit?

    • The Ford Rear Gear Pinion Bearing - 8.8 in. is required for installation for the 2010 + 8.8" gear installation. It is also a good idea to install the Motive Rear End Installation and Bearing Kit - 8.8 in., item # 21201, (https://www.americanmuscle.com/rearendrebuild.html) when changing out the gears as well. You will not need another race or more bearings if you get this kit.

I was looking to add some new 4.10 Ford Racing Gears to my car and read on your site that the new pinion bearing is required when installing new gears. But right after that it says will not fit Track Pack GT models. I own a 2013 GT premium. So would I need to order this as well or?

    David

    • You will need to order the Ford Rear Gear Pinion Bearing - 8.8in (10-14 V8; 11-14 V6). The track pack and the premium models will be slightly different.

      Nearly forgot them!

You MUST purchase this bearing when changing your gears! The old one will get damaged if you remove it from the old pinion. I nearly forgot to purchase this, But while talking to an AM CS agent he reminded me to buy this... He was right, My mechanic asked me if I had it as soon as I told him I was there for a gear change! Saved me from having any delays!! :)

      new pinion bearing

I had the bearing and 331 ring and pinion gears installed by a 2nd party. After 400 miles all seems OK. It's really difficult to review something like this unless it causes a problem.

      From 3.15 to 3.73

I recently upgraded my rear gears from the stock 3.15s to 373s. It was highly recommended that I replace the stock pinion bearing during the process. So, just to be safe, I did. I have had NO issues whatsoever and the gear install went smooth as silk. Do yourself a favor and replace the Pinion Bearing with your gears. There is always that chance of the stock bearing not working with the aftermarket gears. At the least, purchase this for the piece of mind.

      Perfect part

I knew I need a new bearing prior to install so I picked one up from AM, which was cheaper than going through the dealership. Had the gears installed through a shop and they had no problems with the install. Car runs perfect with the new gears and bearing. No noise. Almost like it came with them straight from the factory. Great price/product from AM, and as always fast shipping. Will definitely do business again with AM.

      These are sick!!!

I love these gears, I had them installed by a professional mechanic and he said that it was a pain to install the gear pinion bearing. So be advised, installing these on a 2010 gt might be a bigger pain than normal. Besides that, I love these gears! It really woke my car up.

If it's 2010 or newer ya need it

Fits the 2010 and newer mustangs. I was changing my gears and throwing in a new LSD so I figured I might as well get seals and bearing kit but it doesn't have this bearing I don't know what was different about it but I put it in instead of the one that came in the kit and it worked great . . . I gave it average for performance well because you just kinda need it haha it didn't give me a performance gain over stock.

      A Must Have

I bought this kit along with the main bearing kit for my new FRPP 3.73 gear install on my 2012 GT/CS. Even though there was only 2k miles on the new car. it makes no sense to use an used bearing. do it right the first time and you'll never have to worry about it.

      one stop shoping

Purchased this along with 4.56's so I didn't have to remove the bearing from my origanal pinion so if I needed to switch back I didn't have to reset the pinion depth.Makes going back to my origanal 3.73 setup easy if needed.

      Gears for a 2011 mustang v6

With the stock 2.73 gears the v6 mustang gets great gas mileage but lacks the 'get up and go' that I wanted for the price. But a simple gear upgrade has opened up my budget pony car. I will say in my area it was hard to find a shop that would even touch a car as new as mine. So I do wish American muscle would include some install instructions.

Ford Performance ring and pinion 3.55 ratio from am

the ford performance3:55 ring and pinion fit perfict. no problems i did buy the pinion bearing and shim kit. i did not need the shim kit, but definitly buy the bearing. the gears are as quiet as the oem gears. recommend highly. if you install a gear ratio other than stock ford (e.g. 273-321 ratio) you will need a bhama tuner to reset the speedo. the best purchase ever from am. i no longer have a speed limiter either. this pony will run!!! (one last note, am was cheaper than summit and jegs.)
