      Review & Installation Video

Justin from AmericanMuscle.com, we're here with Chris Thompson from Airaid. He stopped by the shop to tell us a little more about these great Airaid products. We're very familiar with Airaid; we use them on our project cars with great success. Chris, what can you tell us about Airaid that makes it so unique? "Everything we do is digitally designed. It's engineered to fit, it's engineered to work, it's engineered to work without any special tuning. Now, tuning is much, much better. You guys offer a lot of great choices in aftermarket tuning. It'll only enhance the performance of the Mustang. We design our intakes so there's no special gluing required, there's no cutting or hacking of the engine required. If somebody decided to put a stock intake back on, they don't have to go back to Ford to buy another part to put the piece back on. Every intake we do is digitally designed. It's all about the design of the airflow and the linear charge to the throttle body. We use the rotational molding not so much for the heat soaking, but for the shape of the tube we can come up with. By using the rotational molding, it allows us to really give the right shape and form to make sure the product works well." We're very excited—we've got our 2013 Mustang here, probably not even 10 miles on this thing yet, and we already have an Airaid intake on it. Tell us a little more about that. "This is awesome. We're really excited to be here today. This is the first Airaid intake on a 2013 Mustang. We're really excited to be here with you guys. As you can see it fits. We know for sure it fits. We believe we have a hit. We'll do a little bit more testing on it before we release it to the public, but that should happen anytime now." Now, you were telling me earlier, you're working with some legends in the Mustang world. "Well, we're excited about working with Parnelli Jones and his son PJ. Parnelli's been instrumental in helping us come along with the Boss 302 intakes we're trying to develop. Nobody knows the heritage of the Boss 302 better than Parnelli Jones. We worked with PJ on the side by side utility vehicles (Razors, Rhinos, and TRX's). We also sponsored him in the past on his endeavors in the American Le Mans Series, which he ran last year." Chris, thank you so much for educating us on your great Airaid products. And as always, you can find those great Airaid products right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

        Airaid intake

The intake itself is very well made and looks pretty awesome underneath the hood. Definatly something that catches the eye. On the performance end I only noticed a slight bump in high to mid ranged power so don't expect any huge jumps. But all and all im pretty satisfied. Would recomend with other upgrades

5 2010 GT - MatthewB Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

        Happy With It

Installation was easy, it took about 1 hour but I could see someone being able to do it in 30 minutes with proper tools. The hardest part about installing was cutting the factor breather hose to install the new one. The factory breather hose was hard like plastic and took some time to carefully cut and peel off to free the connectors. The car pulls a little harder at WOT and frees up some sound.

        4 2014 GT - J Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

        Nice little pick up

Install was simple took about 2 hours, but I am very slow and deliberate in the way I do things. The gas recycle tube did pop out on me I noticed it when I did my oil change. Gave a nice rumble when coupled with the exhaust.

        Makes it roar!

I am impressed with two things, one the cool sound it makes at higher RPMs and the amount of additional power it seems to add.

4 2010 GT - Garrett Installation Time: Afternoon

Great product not so great install

The intake looks amazing under the hood and I can deffinatly feel and se an improvement in throttle response and gas mileage. The only think keeping this intake from 5 stars in the installation. The instructions are not very well put together and it's a tight fit. But other then that it looks and performs amazing! I reccomend. Just be prepared to be a little frustrated on install.

      5 Top Rated Questions

Is it still beneficial to get a tune with this intake? I'm not planning on getting the intake and tuner at the same time, so if I want to tune it sometime in the future, should I go ahead and get the intake that requires a tune?

      • Yes, it is beneficial to use a tune with this intake, especially this intake in that it has the venturi option when not using a tune on the vehicle, it is not advised to get an intake that requires a tune and not get a tuner, the vehicle would have issues running and have an extreme loss in power.

When installed the airaid cold intake can you get a tune later without anymore changes to the intake

      • When using the Airaid MXP Series Cold Air Intake with a tune, the modular venturi tube should be removed. The modular venturi tube is used to reduce the diameter of the CAI at the MAF sensor to allow the car to run properly on a stock tune, removal with an aftermarket tune allows for the full potential of this CAI to be seen.
