Justin from AmericanMuscle.com, we're here with Chris Thompson from Airaid. He stopped by the shop to tell us a little more about these great Airaid products. We're very familiar with Airaid; we use them on our project cars with great success. Chris, what can you tell us about Airaid that makes it so unique? "Everything we do is digitally designed. It's engineered to fit, it's engineered to work, it's engineered to work without any special tuning. Now, tuning is much, much better. You guys offer a lot of great choices in aftermarket tuning. It'll only enhance the performance of the Mustang. We design our intakes so there's no special gluing required, there's no cutting or hacking of the engine required. If somebody decided to put a stock intake back on, they don't have to go back to Ford to buy another part to put the piece back on. Every intake we do is digitally designed. It's all about the design of the airflow and the linear charge to the throttle body. We use the rotational molding not so much for the heat soaking, but for the shape of the tube we can come up with. By using the rotational molding, it allows us to really give the right shape and form to make sure the product works well." We're very excited—we've got our 2013 Mustang here, probably not even 10 miles on this thing yet, and we already have an Airaid intake on it. Tell us a little more about that. "This is awesome. We're really excited to be here today. This is the first Airaid intake on a 2013 Mustang. We're really excited to be here with you guys. As you can see it fits. We know for sure it fits. We believe we have a hit. We'll do a little bit more testing on it before we release it to the public, but that should happen anytime now." Now, you were telling me earlier, you're working with some legends in the Mustang world. "Well, we're excited about working with Parnelli Jones and his son PJ. Parnelli's been instrumental in helping us come along with the Boss 302 intakes we're trying to develop. Nobody knows the heritage of the Boss 302 better than Parnelli Jones. We worked with PJ on the side by side utility vehicles (Razors, Rhinos, and TRX's). We also sponsored him in the past on his endeavors in the American Le Mans Series, which he ran last year." Chris, thank you so much for educating us on your great Airaid products. And as always, you can find those great Airaid products right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

More Air for More Power. Your V8 Mustang's factory inlet tube is undersized with restrictive accordion-shaped walls and sound-canceling baffles that obstruct airflow, essentially robbing you of power. But by replacing your factory tube with a computer designed Modular Intake Tube from Airaid you will maximize air flow to increase horsepower, torque and improve fuel efficiency.

No Tune Required. Unlike other Air Intakes on the market today for the 5.0L V8 Coyote Mustang, the Airaid Modular Intake Tube does not require a computer re-tune. The engineers at Airaid really did their homework to improve your Pony's power and performance using the factory tune.

Easy Installation. The Airaid modular intake tube was designed to be a direct fit replacement for the factory inlet tube and installs with just basic hand tools. No extra modifications or special tools are required for an easy 1 hour installation.

Application. The Airaid Modular Intake Tube is specifically designed to fit the 2015-2017 GT Mustangs equipped with the 5.0L V8 Coyote engine. This Modular Intake Tube reuses the factory air box and filter element.

Hi, It is strictly mandatory disconnect the battery for install this intake tube? What if not? I had bad experiences in previous cars disconecting the battery (lose ECU parameters)... Thanks in advance.

DiegoG

  • It is recommended to disconnect the battery negative cable when installing the Airaid Modular Intake Tube, but will not be required for this particular installation. One benefit is that this will clear the adaptive tables in the PCM, allowing the car to "learn" the new airflow characteristics more quickly.

For a 2017 GT, what do you plug the top blind grommet location with? The parts kit doesn't have a plug.

ScottK

  • The blind grommet location can be plugged with vacuum caps and connectors since it would not be used on that car. These can be sourced from local hardware stores as well as online.

IS This one Bigger than the mishimoto induction hose does it hold more air volume than the mishimoto induction hose and does it heat soak more than the mishimoto induction hose

BillySAW951

  • The Airaid Modular Intake Tube and the Mishimoto Silicone Induction Hose will share the same approximate sizing, and will allow roughly the same amount of air as the stock MAF housing and airbox are the biggest choke point with these installed. Heat soak would be nearly identical between the plastic of the Airaid, and the silicone of the Mishimoto.

Does this come with the plugs needed to delete the sound tube on the inlet and firewall?

    It works!

Installed 2 weeks ago with a KandN filter Went fo a ride and noticed increased sound coming in from the sound tube. That assured me this tube intake was working as designed. I have only had my 2016 by a month, and wanted to open the the intake without altering the factory tune and this fit the bill nicely. I plugged the sound tube to keep the cabin quiet and am very satisfied with this Airaid product.

    easy install

took about 10 minutes to install, car has a deeper sound from the intake, IDK about any hp increases. Came with sound tube delete kit, cleaned up the engine bay and looks great. also installed a kandn drop in filter.

    Better than stock

I feel like this product is a step above stock but it's still not as good as a cold air intake. So if you didn't have the cash to buy the cold air intake this would get the job done.

    Skeptical

I was skeptical at first but the car seems to run smoother and sounds different. I haven't had time to remove the intake resonator but will definitely do it soon.

    Nice upgrade over stock

Installed this with an AEM dry filter from AmericanMuscle. Everything installed without any issues. I capped off the sound tube to allow me to hear everything else better. The Airaid Intake tube deleted one of the baffles that was on the stock intake tube. Now I just need to figure out how to delete the baffle on the air induction inlet going into the airbox. Install was easy except the Texas heat. Lol. Throttle response feels a tad better and smoother for my 2016 manual GT. The only other mods I really have is an H pipe. Car sounds pretty decent now for nearly stock.

An inexpensive alternative to a cai...

I combined this with a drop in kandn filter. First thing i noticed was the cabin drone from my exhaust decreased. Overall the car sounds and runs a bit smoother. I highly recommend this for those of you seeking an inexpensive cai setup or prefer a mostly stock underhood appearance.

    Good product

Product arrived in two days thank you american muscle for always coming through. The modular intake tube fits like a glove. Actually what I noticed once installed the vehicle on you can hear the sucking noise. Especially if you rev the vehicle as well. Goes great with a dip in kandn filter. It's like having a CAI at half the cost
