Simple installation for anyone.
Justin: Hey everybody, Justin with AmericanMuscle.com. I'm here and we're at our local drag strip, MIR, with our 2015 EcoBoost Mustang. Now the whole premise of today is to do some more real-world testing with the help of the Bama Performance team. Now our goal, take our bone stock 2015 automatic EcoBoost with the exception of a drag radial, run it down the track a few times, get some baseline numbers with this car, then pull it into the pits, install an Airaid cold air intake system, a Bama tune and then re-run it and see what time we've actually shaved off. Now it should be a great day for racing here. We've got some nice cool air. So let's get this thing to the line and see how it does.13.64 at 98. It's nice, cold air out here and these turbo cars love that cold air. So for a stock car, that's pretty respectable. So I guess now we'll just get it in the pits. All right Mike from Bama Performance is pulling double duty for us here today. He just installed the Airaid cold air and now he's in the car working on the tune. Mike, what can everybody expect using a tune here on the EcoBoost?Mike: Well, with the EcoBoost with the turbo, we're going to focus on some boost, obviously. We're going to run the car at about 2200 psi, whole boost all the way through so it doesn't drop off. Spent a lot of time on the throttle. Factory is only about 40%. We want to hold it open a lot longer, especially on full throttle. Adjust the shift pressure so we can get better shifts. We're also going to spring-boost it a little quicker even on part-throttle, so a whole lot of changes.Justin: Nice. I mean, well, I'm interested to see how these changes affect our performance, so finish up with that tune, man, let's get this thing in line.Mike: You got it.Justin: All right, guys. So, a 12.9, 103. I mean, there you go, right intake and the tune, the Bama tune is doing its job.Paul: I'm really happy. That's why we like coming to the track. So we can take a look at the data logs in a real-world environment, revise that track tune and get the best time out of it.Justin: There you go. Real-world testing for you guys. A nice, easy mod, a tune and you're shaving off more than a half of a second and picking up some mile-an-hour on the quarter-mile. So, that's it. We're out of here. It's dark. They're kicking us out. But for all things Mustang, keep it right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

I was skeptical about whether this would help me save gas, but it does. I get 29 mpg, rather than 25-26 mpg, to work and back. But wait, there’s more, the car is way faster in every way described in the product description. I can sort of hear the turbo more. Overall, outstanding!Helpful (4)

I’ve always been a fan of the Airaid CAI systems. Great quality, excellent fit and better airflow. I installed this unit on my Ecoboost Mustang. I didn’t really notice any intake sound difference, however I know the car is breathing better. On the same morning, I installed the MBRP XP Street exhaust. With the two upgrades, there is a noticeable increase in torque. With the Airaid CAI the inlet air temperature does stay lower longer, than the factory intake did. With a turbo car, I favor a CAI with a cold air box to avoid heat soak. In the future, I’m planning to buy a tuner. With a tune, I will see a bigger performance gain with these equipment upgrades. I had zero fitment or quality issues with the Airaid intake. I highly recommend this system.Helpful (3)

Easy to install, and it looks good
This is great you’ll notice a slight change in the way the car reacts, bit pricey but worth itHelpful (3)

Great looking and sounding! You can really hear the turbo a lot more with this intake. A few minor issues I came into were the washers were to small (you really don’t need them as long as you don’t over tighten the bolts) and the metal piece that’s underneath the clear cover for the box was not cut right so it doesn’t fit in the cut out section. I got most of the bolts in but one will not fit due to the metal being off set slightly. Overall good product otherwise.Helpful (8)

Runs great, but wrong washers
So, I received my Cold air intake and was so excited to get it put on. I'm not much with tools, but I work at a shop. So, one of my buddies put it on for me. It took him around an hr total installation time. I will say though that I was pretty disappointed when he came to me and told me that the washers were too small. Luckily washers are an easy fix. My car runs great and paired with an axleback exhaust it sounds awesome too. Highly recommend.Helpful (7)

Good Kit, Wrong Washers, Burr in Hole
The kit is good once everything is on, the problem is... It came with the wrong washers for the bolts so I had to go buy some locally. Also, there was a piece of protrudin g plastic in the inlet where the air inlet temperature sensor goes. This did not allow my temperature sensor to fit in correctly, I gave it a bit more muscle and the burr gave way and the temp sensor went in and broke the leg, so I had to go buy a new temp sensor. Once everything is on it is pretty good. The install is a bit of a snug fit I will say.Helpful (10)

Excellent product but came with the wrong washers
Everything is good with the kit but the only problem was that they send me the wrong washers that was a pain because I had to get some that actually fit with the screwsHelpful (9)

A Great Kit! But not so easy to install........
The kit is very straight forward. Removing the stock air box is simple. Getting the stock plenum off not so easy. PCV valve easy, getting the other hose off not easy. None of the washers that came with my kit were the right size. The screws could not even thread thru the holes. Luckily I had the correct size washers on the shelf. Installing the new air box, simple. Fitting the new plenum on over the turbo not easy. But It is on and up tight against the turbo.Helpful (8)
At the top of the page, it says the Airaid MXP Series Cold Air Intake w/ SynthaMax Dry Filter (15-18 EcoBoost) will work on the 2018 EcoBoost. But with the first question, you all say no. Has there been a change or upgrade, since the first question was asked? I would really like to put this on my 2018 2.3L.
We apologize for the confusion. The first question was asked before we were able to verify this intake would also work for the 2018 Ecoboost models. You would be able to install this part on your ecoboost without an issue.
Is this system legal in California?
This intake will be legal for use under CARB EO# D-609-19.
Is it compatible with the mishimoto inter cooler and charge pipes?
Will this product be compatible with a C L bypass valve adapter ( Blow off valve) ?
Several reviews speak about incorrect washers. Has this issue been resolved?
Yes, this intake will come with all the correct hardware for installation.
The Airaid MXP Series Cold Air Intake is not currently available for 2018 models - As soon as the intakes become available for the 2018's from Airaid they will be on our site as stock becomes available.
This would really depend on what you do with the car. Oiled filters would be more for the everyday driver and the dry filter will be more for track days.
The ford performance tune is only meant to work with the ford performance intakes, separate tunes would be required for another intake. This would include; a Bama tuner, or VMP tuner to use with the Airaid MXP Cold Air Intake.
