Justin from AmericanMuscle.com, we're here with Chris Thompson from Airaid. He stopped by the shop to tell us a little more about these great Airaid products. We're very familiar with Airaid; we use them on our project cars with great success. Chris, what can you tell us about Airaid that makes it so unique? "Everything we do is digitally designed. It's engineered to fit, it's engineered to work, it's engineered to work without any special tuning. Now, tuning is much, much better. You guys offer a lot of great choices in aftermarket tuning. It'll only enhance the performance of the Mustang. We design our intakes so there's no special gluing required, there's no cutting or hacking of the engine required. If somebody decided to put a stock intake back on, they don't have to go back to Ford to buy another part to put the piece back on. Every intake we do is digitally designed. It's all about the design of the airflow and the linear charge to the throttle body. We use the rotational molding not so much for the heat soaking, but for the shape of the tube we can come up with. By using the rotational molding, it allows us to really give the right shape and form to make sure the product works well." We're very excited—we've got our 2013 Mustang here, probably not even 10 miles on this thing yet, and we already have an Airaid intake on it. Tell us a little more about that. "This is awesome. We're really excited to be here today. This is the first Airaid intake on a 2013 Mustang. We're really excited to be here with you guys. As you can see it fits. We know for sure it fits. We believe we have a hit. We'll do a little bit more testing on it before we release it to the public, but that should happen anytime now." Now, you were telling me earlier, you're working with some legends in the Mustang world. "Well, we're excited about working with Parnelli Jones and his son PJ. Parnelli's been instrumental in helping us come along with the Boss 302 intakes we're trying to develop. Nobody knows the heritage of the Boss 302 better than Parnelli Jones. We worked with PJ on the side by side utility vehicles (Razors, Rhinos, and TRX's). We also sponsored him in the past on his endeavors in the American Le Mans Series, which he ran last year." Chris, thank you so much for educating us on your great Airaid products. And as always, you can find those great Airaid products right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

More Power, Better Throttle Response. This easy to bolt-on Poweraid spacer from Airaid was developed to improve throttle response and to unleash the hidden low to mid range torque from your Mustang's engine, with tremendous torque gains seen between 800 to 2500 RPM.

The Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer not only improves the power and performance of your Mustang, but with its unique “Helix Bore” design, it also maximizes fuel efficiency saving you money at the gas pump. You can feel a slightly better throttle response and more low end torque. Several people have asked if I have a turbo because of the whistle. Great addition!

Will this fit if I have the BBK 73mm throttle body and Airaid CAI?

  • This TB spacer is designed to be used in conjunction with the stock throttle body only, not a larger mm aftermarket TB. Also, this spacer won't fit properly with the Airaid Cold Air Intake. If you already have both the BBK TB and Airaid CAI, my suggestion is to simply keep the set up you have!

So the throttle body spacer will not fit with the Airaid CAI but will it fit with the Airaid Modular Intake Tube?

Will this fit on a 2013 GT or is it for V6 only? I have a GT will this fit or is it only for a V6?

  • This item will only work on V6 mustangs. This is due to the size (and shape) difference of the throttle bodies on these two model vehicles.

    Doesn't do anything

I installed this product and drove shortly after, there is absolutely no power gained I feel like it took a little longer to get up and go than usual but that could just be my expectations let down. but there is unmistakably no whistle at all with my 2015 the product labels, and arrow of flow are also not present on this, along with there being Knicks and scratches all over it. Needless to say I will be returning this product.

This product was pretty interesting when I read it. I was a skeptic about it when i first got it. But it really works. Installation: not hard at all. Had a few tools laying around and it was easy to do. I installed it and dod not hear the whistle though. Directions of product was correct, maybe i tightened it too much? But @ 80 mph, crusing, normally it'll get 27-28mpgs. Driving the same way, I'm now getting 29.7-30mpg. My normal crushing highway driving is 33-34 as an average. I did it so I could get the rebate, which justified it more to me. No complains, sipping gas, and getting she doesn't vibrate as much as before in the low rpms. It makes your pulls from low rpms feel more solid and effective. I drive the 6 speed doing 80-100 miles a day, and i shift at 1300rpms (low, i know) and it used to vibrate a lot, but hardly does now. She rolls and sounds good. I hooked up an aftermarket cold air intake and i still get the same mpgs, or at worst, minus 1 mpg in everything. I love it. Definitely would get one if I had a GT, but this is my daily so i look for more long term effective mods like this. Definitely recommend for daily drivers or people wanting to mod the car.

    Throttle Body Spacer

Ive always had doubts on these because of the mixed reviews but I decided to give it a tryon my mustang because I trust anything AM offers and if nothing else i knew i would love the whistle. I am very pleased with this spacer, there is definately an improvement in low end torque, I can make it up the steep hill by my house now without downshifting and slamming the gas that was my real test and the added power is easy to feel in the 1500-3000 rpm range. The way i drive i cant really make statement towards gas mileage but i would suggest this as an easy bolt on for any mustang owner

    Power Aid Spacer

I've used this product before and really enjoy the extra HP gains as well as the gas mileage. my only dislike is taking off the factory clips on one of the hoses. I highly reccomend getting a cold air intake with this as well to maximize the bennefits of the spacer.

Does not fit with Airaid CAI

I installed the Airaid CAI (sounds great with noticed performance increase). However, after I bought the TB spacer and I received the Airaid spacer I discovered it does not fit with the Airaid CAI. I discovered this while looking back at the Airaid CAI page. Unfortunately, the spacer page did not mention this. I thought it would work because the spacer page has customer images of aftermarket CAIs with the spacer. It turns out it is just the tight fit of the Airaid CAI. The JLT CAI will work with this spacer (plus JLT CAI gives 2 more ft./lbs torque with tuner). I told AM. Hopefully they will put a note on the spacer page. I got a refund for the spacer but had to pay shipping back.

    Sweet Sound!!!

It only took me about 30-40 mins to install and the sound difference with my new CAI is definitely worth it alone. I don't know if I've gained any more power from spacer by itself but it feels/sounds much different with the CAI on there as well, I definitely recommend if you like the whistle sound.

    Not a bad product......

Picked this up, because...with the price of gas, any gain in mileage/power for a decent price is worth trying. I drive from Ontario Canada to Columbus Ohio at least once a month so I'm always looking for ways to gain mileage....This product appears to have helped....I've gained(so far)at least 2-3 MPG, and I'm hoping it will continue to rise. For what it is...it would be nice if it was somewhat cheaper(maybe $15-20?) but I'm hoping that It will pay for itself, which it seems to be doing as I'm already using 1/4 tank less between Ajax, Ontario and Angola N.Y.

    Great Buy

Roush RS, 6 speed manual, Installation Easy And Directions Precise, took 1 hour, have seen performance increase and throttle response. Have been paying attention to MPG and have seen 3 mpg increase, far as the whistle goes, does not seem apparent to me but the roush exhaust might be covering that up or I am not paying attention specific for whistle, ( I did install directionally as the instructions and stamping on plate said) This will pay for itself after about 12 fill ups, recommend to all. Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer

I have shown an increase of 3 mpg since installing the throttle body spacer. I can't tell if I'v gained HP, there has never been a problem with acceleration with my 2011 V6. I have previously installed a CLC cold air intake and Bama Tunes.

    Power-aid TB spacer

After reading reviews about this product I decided I would give it a try. First off, the "whistle" sound is hardly audible. Of course this may also be the result of my stock airbox that I currently have on, so hopefully with the installation of my CAI it will become somewhat more audible. The spacer itself fit just right, the bolts as well. However, the breather hose that they included is WAY to small and will not go onto the male connecting parts. Luckily the stock hose does the job just fine. I did notice slight power increase. Not anything that really sends you further back in your seat, but there is a little gain. I would give this product more stars if it was not for those issues I listed. If I could go back, I think I would've spent my 120ish dollars on another part.

    Whistle all the way

I have a 2012 v6 with airaid intake and magnaflow catback exhaust. After insralling this piece honestly i didnt believe the fact of the gain and i bought just cause it will look better under the hood since i take my car to events but after i put it, no kidding, the car sounds better, definetly more torque and i did notice a lik bit of gas saving but my favorite part its just that whistle. I thought it would just sound when u gas it a lil bit but actually it sounds all the time as long as u r gasing the car (kinda sounds like a lil turbo lol). I believe its a great opnion for the buck and the installation LOVED IT!!!

    As good as Advertised.

I installed this in less than 30 minutes. the directions were easy to follow and there was nothing challenging at all about the installation. The only minor hiccup I ran into was the directions asked for the bolts to be torqued to "factory specs" I have no idea what the "factory specs" are but I called AM and was that while they can be over tightened to just tighten them down snug and it would be fine. I did that and there doesn't seem to be any issue. The whistle everyone else is talking about in other reviews is way LESS then I thought it would be. It doesn't bother me at all. I can definitely feel the car pull harder in the low gears, and I actually feel like I have something under the hood in 3rd under 30 MPH. Great product, I can't wait to add a CAI and tune to really take it up a notch.
