    Review & Install Video

Justin from, we're here with Chris Thompson from Airaid. He stopped by the shop to tell us a little more about these great Airaid products. We're very familiar with Airaid; we use them on our project cars with great success. Chris, what can you tell us about Airaid that makes it so unique? "Everything we do is digitally designed. It's engineered to fit, it's engineered to work, it's engineered to work without any special tuning. Now, tuning is much, much better. You guys offer a lot of great choices in aftermarket tuning. It'll only enhance the performance of the Mustang. We design our intakes so there's no special gluing required, there's no cutting or hacking of the engine required. If somebody decided to put a stock intake back on, they don't have to go back to Ford to buy another part to put the piece back on. Every intake we do is digitally designed. It's all about the design of the airflow and the linear charge to the throttle body. We use the rotational molding not so much for the heat soaking, but for the shape of the tube we can come up with. By using the rotational molding, it allows us to really give the right shape and form to make sure the product works well." We're very excited—we've got our 2013 Mustang here, probably not even 10 miles on this thing yet, and we already have an Airaid intake on it. Tell us a little more about that. "This is awesome. We're really excited to be here today. This is the first Airaid intake on a 2013 Mustang. We're really excited to be here with you guys. As you can see it fits. We know for sure it fits. We believe we have a hit. We'll do a little bit more testing on it before we release it to the public, but that should happen anytime now." Now, you were telling me earlier, you're working with some legends in the Mustang world. "Well, we're excited about working with Parnelli Jones and his son PJ. Parnelli's been instrumental in helping us come along with the Boss 302 intakes we're trying to develop. Nobody knows the heritage of the Boss 302 better than Parnelli Jones. We worked with PJ on the side by side utility vehicles (Razors, Rhinos, and TRX's). We also sponsored him in the past on his endeavors in the American Le Mans Series, which he ran last year." Chris, thank you so much for educating us on your great Airaid products. And as always, you can find those great Airaid products right here at

Does this really work for a GAIN of HP/TQ or MPG? Before I or others spend $114 maybe you guys should make a video of the gains.

        • Yes you will see HP gains of about 5 and about 1 more mpg.

WIll this fit aftermarket BBK 65mm throttlebody? Is this worth puting on with a 65mm BBK throttlebody or will it choke the intake down and actually minimize the airflow coming in due to the fact that it was designed to work with a factory throttle body? I have a aftermaret cai as well, long tube headers, no cats, h- pipe, thrush open chamber mufflers and a 93 ocatane performance tune, demon coil, msd wires and iridium plugs. Also have no emissions, it's all disconnected, the dpr, dpv, and egr all turned off along with the egr blocked off and mil elliminators in the front o2 holes.

        • It would not be beneficial to use this spacer with any aftermarket throttle body for the exact reasoning you listed. This spacer is designed to mate with the stock throttle body bore size and will minimize the airflow if combined with a larger mm aftermarket replacement. I would stick with the set up you have currently! Hope this helps!

Would I see a larger horsepower and torque gain out of this part than the slightly larger 65mm throttle body?

        • This will give you minimal gains. I would recommend purchasing the 65mm throttle body as that will give you the most gains.

So will I lose Horsepower if I use this with a 65mm throttlebody

        • The Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer is designed to fit 1999 to 2001 3.8L V6 Mustangs with a stock throttle body. This will not work with an upgraded aftermarket 65mm throttle body.

You stated this will not fit the 02-04 mustand V6's without slight modifications. What are those modifications to make them fit since no one carries a spacer for our motors? Mostly stock v6 and don't see the need for the bigger throttle body since I won't be going to duals.

        • We do not currently carry a throttle body spacer for the 02-04 models. You would need to trim or cut down the intake and we do not have further directions in regards to this process available at this point in time.

            4 2001 V6 - JalenM Installation Time: Full Day

            She whistles!!!

I have an auto but I drove it manually and I love second gear, there's a noticeable difference in the exhaust notes and I seem to accelerate a lil faster than normal, mpg seems to stay the same, overall I'm happy with this product and I'm giving 4 out of 5 stars because I was literally working on it all day, I was getting too much air in the engine which caused an erratic idle issue(I didn't tighten the bolts all the way), it probably works best with the stock cai, my setup is a bbk cai(very tight fit with putting the spacer and cai on)and flowmaster 40's. Thanks AM!

            Nice Cheap Upgrade

Word of advice. Don’t ask me how I know but make sure to remove the old gasket completely and scrape off and stuck pieces before installing or your car will run really rough. Other than that works fine and there is a slight horsepower increase. Only takes an hour to install, if done correctly.

            5 2002 V6 - ChrisM Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

            Good Quality and Performance

I was surprised at how well this spacer improved both throttle response and power. However all of the power gains for me are felt at low and mid throttle. For everyday driving, this is nice because now I don't have to put my foot as far down on the pedal as I had to before to get the same acceleration. The car has several other mods and a tune so the 4 or 5 horsepower gain from the spacer at wide open throttle was not really noticed. Some reviewers were annoyed at the whistle that the spacer produced, but for me it was audible but not loud. Also while this spacer is advertised to work only for the 99-01 Mustang, I installed this on my 02 Mustang and it fit flawlessly, and I imagine it would fit on the 03 as well since the intake is the same. I am not sure if this would fit on a 04 however, as the engine was changed that year.

            Well worth the money

This spacer was easy to install and at the same time I installed a cold air intake. My V6 has more torque through all gears. But you really notice it in 1st, 2nd and 3rd. And I am getting about 10 better gas mileage. Would recommend this product to anyone. I have a 2001 mustang with the V6.

I love the product but I'm not sure yet soon after install check engine light comes on tells me I have a vacuum leak I have replaced all vacuum lines have even blown smoke in the intake no leak detected system is holding good pressure so I'm not sure what it could be other than that the product is awesome you can feel the difference you can feel the power and the takeoff when it kicks in you can hear it hiss kind of like a turbo are supercharger even though I'm still having this issue I would recommend this product to anyone it's awesome the only reason I didn't give it a five-star is because of the check engine light other than that I would say it's a 10 star

            Just What the Pony Needed

I purchased this from AM and received it quickly via UPS in about 4 days with no problem. After installation, which only took about 45 minutes, I could notice a slight power gain. I also noticed the "whistle," which occurred around 5600 RPM's. As for gas mileage, I have not noticed any gains, but I haven't noticed any loss either. Overall, I would definitely recommend this spacer to anyone who is looking to mod their pony's V6 or V8. Thanks AM for yet another affordable and awesome product.

Its a awesome little product. Money for it was worth it but i think over prised. I saw 2 mpg better even full throttaling it all day. Just note, if you have a cool air intake, you will have to modify the intake tubes. But this with a cool air intake and bama tune, makes it a great product.

            Fun Fun Fun

installation was fairly easy but where I had the most issues were with the intake, I have the SR performance intake and I will have to cut it, in order to drive it I needed to take off the heat shield. everything is a very tight fit. as soon as I turned the car on, I saw that I was idling way smoother and just perfect. I took the car for a spin and it has way more torque, especially at the lower rpms' Buy This. you will have to make little modification to your intake but its way worth the money.

"Whistle" semi annoying but increases are nice

Install took a lot longer then it should have as 2 of my studs did not want to come out and were stuck. After about 2 hours of getting the studs out, I was finally able to presume with the install. If you have a SR Cold Air Intake, you're going to have a tough time getting everything to fit. I had to do a little bit of finagling with the CAI but I eventually managed to get everything to fit. Finally, the "whistle". While I know the whistle is the sound of the spacer working, it can get somewhat annoying after a while. I know the whole point of a spacer is to spin the air to increase HP and MPG, if little things annoy you, the whistle may actually deter you away from this. It's been about 3 weeks now since I installed it. I'm getting used to the whistle more and more but it's still loud enough to get my attention every time. All in all, it's a great add-on and offers small HP and MPG gains at a low price.

            Nice Product

The fit was pretty good, it matched my BBK throttle body perfectly and install was easy. Had to cut my CAI but knew I would have to before ordering. I have the cheap intake from AM I think it is ~ $70-100, intake was too long after adding one inch. Felt some power gain in the top end, not really in the bottom end. Nice whistle but not loud enough to hear over everything else.
