Required For 5.0 coyote Swap. Dropping a brand new coyote 5.0 engine in your 1979 to 2004 Mustang is a great way to add more power to your Pony, but it will require some modifications including a new set of headers and X-Pipe. This BBK Shorty Off-Road X-Pipe was specifically designed just for the 5.0L coyote engine swap with BBK's 1634 or 16340 Series full length headers.

Race Car Growl. This free flowing BBK x-pipe for the coyote engine swap will not only increase power, but it also adds a crisp raspy, race car growl to the sound of your exhaust with its modern "X" crossover pipe design.

Durable BBK Construction. Constructed from 3" diameter CNC mandrel bent aluminized tubing, this BBK off-road Mid Pipe features a merged X crossover design to improve exhaust flow.

Application. This BBK Shorty Off-road X-Pipe is specifically designed to be used when installing BBK long tube headers on a 1979 to 2004 Ford Mustang with the 4 valve coyote 5.0L engine swap.

Technical Note: This BBK product is intended for off road use, and is not legal for use in emission restrictive states.

Ask a Question

Will this fit my '99 v6 with the MAC 1-5/8 in. long tube headers?

SeanL

  • The BBK Coyote 5.0L Swap Off Road X-Pipe is designed to be used when swapping a five liter Coyote motor. For the best fitment we recommend staying with the same brand headers as the mid-pipe. Due to differences in manufacturing tolerances, mix-matching brand may cause a fitment discrepancy. For proper fitment, we would recommend using the MAC Off-Road H-Pipe, Item 40064. https://www.americanmuscle.com/mac-or-shorty-hpipe-9904v6.html

Would this x pipe along with coyote swap headers work with a 5.4 navigator swap? I'm building up my parts stockpile to do the swap after spring gets started. (My garage is far too poorly lit to work without the door open, but it is too cold where I live to have it open before at least March)

SharkWeek

  • No it will not, the bolt pattern on the headers are different and are made specifically for the coyote swap into a mustang

    2002 GT 5.0 swap

Chose this mid pipe because it cost less then half the catted cost, exhaust note is ridiculous! Big difference from the 4.6 for certain. It's 3in in diameter and went in with no drama, would buy again if needed

    Bolts to headers....but........

Got this as advertised AM is always quick. Got it bolted to the headers, went to bolt in cat-back and guess what....yep didn't fit. The tubes on the Xpipe are equal length. The stock (or aftermarket) X or H for our year models are not equal length. (refer to pics for 99-04 h or x pipe and you will see what I am talking about). Not AM's fault since this is a Coyote Swap but they should have know it isn't a direct fit. No worries, I had it shortened and put 2.5" ball on both pipes so it would bolt to my existing cat-back. If you go with custom exhaust you won't have a problem. If you want to keep your existing stuff some modification is needed. 2 stars for fit and finish, a costly revelation. Exhaust note with my Magnaflow is perfect. Quiet until you step on the loud pedal. Overall a 3 because of modification, again not AM 's fault. I will let them know just in case they haven't been informed.
