    Review & Install Video

Hey, guys, Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com, here with my review of MMD's Billet Aluminum Fuel Doors for 1994 to 2014 Mustangs. These fuel doors from MMD are a nice option for the Mustang owners out there that could be looking for a way to have a little something more than a plain fuel door. MMD offers two different finishes, black or chrome, and some different logos, such as the FOOSE logo, as well as options that have the Mustang logo like this one here. The logos are engraved and they aren't over the top, and won't wear off like a decal would. I think these fuel doors are nice because they're subtle but different, and the logos are actually licensed lettering, not some knock-off lettering that's not going to look good. Like I said, you can choose between either black or chrome, plain or with a logo. The black fuel doors are anodized, while the chrome ones are a triple-plated chrome finish. They're all billet aluminum, like I mentioned, but another nice thing here is that these have a magnetic clasp and striker plate, which are going to help make sure these things stay shut when you're out there doing Mustang things. And as far as price, you're looking at between $100 and $200 for one of these. It isn't hard to get this fuel door on your 'Stang, so it's a one out of three wrenches, and should only take you about 15 minutes to complete. You'll need a few different tools, but the surprise is the drill with a ¼" drill bit so you can drill out the factory plastic shroud for the new fuel door. And I just use a rag to help contain the plastic bits that are drilled out. This does come with instructions, so just follow those and you should have no problem with this. So overall, the MMD Billet Fuel Doors are just a little way to upgrade your fuel door from the factory plastic one. You have a few different styling options, they're all billet aluminum, very easy to install, and a magnetic clasp and striker plate to make sure they stay closed. But as always, be sure to check these out more for yourself and see what you think. I'm Stephanie, and for all things Mustang, keep it right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Bold Clean Styling. Get rid of that cheap painted plastic factory fuel door and replace it with the bold clean styling of a Modern Muscle Design Black Anodized Billet Aluminum Fuel Door from AmericanMuscle. A black fuel door adds an extra level of customization to any Pony for impressive styling.

Superior Construction. Precision CNC machined from light weight 6061-T6 billet aluminum, this Modern Muscle Design Mustang fuel door is completed in a black anodized finish for striking style and superior durability. A magnetic clasp and striker plate assure that the fuel door stays securely closed even at top speed.

Complementary Upgrade. While upgrading to a new eye catching Fuel Door, it's also a great time to consider adding a Locking Fuel Cap for that extra peace of mind and added security for your Mustang. Please see the option above.

Easy Installation. Coming complete with all the hardware required, this MMD Mustang fuel door easily installs in under 15 minutes.

Application. This MMD Black Anodized Billet Aluminum Fuel Door is designed to fit all 2010 to 2014 Mustangs, including the V6, GT, BOSS and Shelby GT500 models.

Black? So exactly what type of black is this; shiny, flat, matte?

Why does almost every comment say that the fuel door turns bronze? This part was back ordered for almost a year. I really like it and would consider buying it , but is there a problem with the black billet material? You also said you can get lettering on this part, but that is just for the chrome ones, what about black with the white Mustang lettering engraved? I have asked these questions before about the material being defective and engraving, but have yet to receive a definite answer

        • This item was out of stock while the manufacturer was making updates due to the issues that were happening in the past. We do have new stock on the MMD fuel door where the paint will not turn. We do have this same fuel door with the lettering here: https://www.americanmuscle.com/mmd-black-mustang-fueldoor-0509.html.

The video says you can get it with the white Mustang lettering or plain, I don't see anywhere where you offer that

        • We do offer this with lettering found here: https://www.americanmuscle.com/mmd-chrome-mustang-fueldoor-1014.htmland a plain chrome here: https://www.americanmuscle.com/chrome-fueldoor-1013.html

            Looks and works great

Other than the absolutely ridiculous price of this product,it fit great and looks even better. Follow the instructions and all went well. The little silver screws on the outside will need to be retightened. The hardest part is putting the rubber seal properly around the fill pipe. Took two of us and a little spray of “Tire Wet” and a flat screwdriver to gently but firmly to get it in place. The rest is pretty simple.

It's okay but maybe mins was faulty

All the little Allen bolts that you can see on the outside were either loose or barley in. Go to lightly tighten them and three strip had to JB weld them in place. And ended up doing the same to the rest It's an ok product but not for $130 I like the way it looks tho

            color change

This cover has gone from black to Gold in a very short time. Factory color fades very quickly and I am going to have to repaint or buy something else. otherwise it is very functional.

            Not bad

Not a bad addition to your Mustang at all. Only downside, is the color will fade from black to like a dark charcoal gray. Easy to install. Fit and looks great other than the color fade.

            Junk!

Faded within a year to a copper color. Fit was great but the color is hideous. I am gonna pull it off and have it painted. Not worth $140.

            Bought two..

I bought two! AM was cool enough to replace BOTH with new ones after providing pics and the original (after discovering chronic issues and a contact on Mustang forums), but they all faded to goldish copper within a year. So disappointed that I finally found THE best fuel door, and it’s defective. Because when new, looks fantastic, and very solid construction/design. :-(

            Bronze, not black.

Don’t invest. Went bronze within a year. I tried to post a detailed review and it wouldn’t accept my personal review. Buyer beware.

It will change color by itself.

This thing is not cheap. The quality of the product was perfect when I got it. However, after 6 months, it changed color. Now it looked like a cheap painted aftermarket paint fuel door. And I cannot replace the original fuel door back. Everything is perfect except it changed color !!!!

            Looks Awesome, Hard install

The door looks awesome, the major issue was the time of install. It took well over an hour due to the rubber gasket being a very tight fit and incredibly hard to affix. Also the hole to get the wrenches into the fuel door was obviously very small and very hard to tighten down. Overall very happy with the product once the install was done!

            Looks great but small issue

Received on time and it looks great. Install was fine but one side sat deeper than I think it should have. Meaning it wasn't flush all around as I expected. I ended up moving around the included spacers to get it better. It looks great but not perfect. At some point I may look into getting a longer bolt and adding another spacer or two, but for now, it gets the job done and the look is still what I wanted.

Looked great... for about a month

I bought this to replace the chrome MMD fuel door that had corroded badly. This one looks and feels nice quality, but after a couple of months on the car it has changed to a patchy orange / bronze colour. Really disappointing since I've now spent out on two of these and neither have lasted.
