    Review & Install Video

Hey, guys. Stephanie with americanmuscle.com here with an overview of this front subframe chassis brace from BMR for the 2015 and newer GT and EcoBoost Mustangs. In this video we're gonna discuss what this brace does and how it's designed to work, and the materials in construction, and of course, the install as well. I'll go into more detail later, but the install for this brace is easy. It's 100% bolt-on item that you can install with simple hand tools. The BMR front subframe chassis brace is going to be something that you should check out if you're looking for a way to increase steering stability and give the K-member some more bracing. This brace ties together a few points in the front of the car to support and stiffen the front of the suspension, and it's gonna be for street performance, drag racing, and any handling applications. So, first things first, this brace is made from a combination of heavy duty two-and-a-quarter-inch steel and one by one-and-a-half inch rectangular tubing. It ties in the front lower control arm mounts to the rear legs of the K-member. These areas are important to support because the factory K-member and the lower control arm mount can deflect, and this deflection is what's gonna take away handling performance. The design of this brace, by tying the lower control arm mount and the rear legs of the K-member, reinforces the major areas of the K-member to reduce that deflection. Reducing deflection here means a better steering feel and more stability, whether you're taking corners or even under hard braking. And the good news about a brace like this one here is that you tie in these points on the chassis, you reduce deflection, and you get better handling results, but you aren't gonna increase NVH or noise, vibration, and harshness. A lot of times when you go to reduce deflection, you end up taking the road of swapping out soft rubber bushings for more firm bushings or maybe even no bushings at all. But those methods add NVH. A brace like this one here avoids adding NVH but still gets you the results that you want. This brace also has CNC machine that build an aluminum spacers for you and it's gonna come with your install hardware, too. Like I said before, it's 100% bolt-on, so it's gonna use existing bolt holes. Now, adding a brace to the K-member like this is going to open up some questions about fitment, and of course, a long tube headers are gonna be a concern. This brace will work with the stock and very nearly all aftermarket exhaust systems, including most long tube headers. It will not work with Kooks long tube headers though, so just keep that in mind. It's also not gonna work on V6 models. And lastly, probably not your main concern here today, but this brace is available in both black and red powder coated finish. When it comes to price, you're gonna expect to pay between $100 and $200 but closer to $100 for this brace. Now, I don't really have anything else to compare this brace to since BMR is currently the only ones out there making a brace like this for the front of the S550. I will say though that for close to $100, I'm not sure how you can go wrong here if you're looking to stabilize the front end. Good materials, great construction, the benefit of BMR's proven reputation and the science behind the product are all positive here. Moving on to the install, like I said earlier, this is a direct fit item, so the install is gonna be straightforward and simple. You're looking at an hour tops in the garage and a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. The job can be done on jack stands if you don't have access to a lift, but as always, a lift would make things easier for you here. Your wheels need to come off and you're gonna need to pull the lower control arm bolts. The spacers will go into the subframe and to the mounting hole, and then you can fit up your brace and reinstall the lower control arm bolts. One thing I will say here is that aligning the bolt holes might require some help from another person. If you have trouble, a second person can pull out on the hub and rotor assembly so you can line the bolts up and get it through. Your remaining bolts are gonna go into the rear mounting holes with the supplied washers and lock nuts. BMR suggests tightening the front bolts first and then the rear bolts, and they give the required torque rating in the step-by-step install instructions that do have pictures as well to help you guys out. Overall, it's a very easy install for anyone. Wrapping things up with the BMR front subframe suspension brace. This is a brace that's gonna tie together the rear of the K-member and the lower control arm mounting point to provide for some front end stability and less deflection without any added NVH. This is a good mod for any performance vehicle and it provides more stable handling performance all the way around. As always, I suggest you check it out more online for yourselves right here at americanmuscle.com.

Track-Ready Stability. BMR offers great help for the handling of your 2015-2018 Mustang. The front K-member on the Mustang is quite strong straight from the factory, but still tends to flex under extreme use. The BMR Front Sub Frame Chassis Brace increases steering stability and reduces the need to make repeated front alignment changes on your S550 Mustang. Thanks to heavy-duty steel construction and smart engineering, it does this without increasing noise, vibration, or harshness (NVH) in the cabin.

Reduces Deflection. The BMR Sub Frame Chassis Brace ties the front lower control arms to the rear legs of the K-member, adding stiffness to the whole structure. Deflection under cornering and braking loads is considerably reduced, thus increasing steering feel and alignment stability under load.

Heavy Duty Construction. BMR Suspension proudly designs and manufactures their Subframe Chassis Brace right here in the USA. BMR's Brace features a triangulated design that ties key structural points together for an extremely rigid frame. This Subframe Chassis Brace is constructed from heavy duty 2-1/4" DOM steel and 1" x 1.5" rectangular tubing for exceptional strength. BMR then completes their Brace in a durable bright red powder coated finish for impressive good looks and long lasting corrosion resistance.

Easy Installation. Installation is 100% bolt-on and all necessary hardware is included. A lift helps, but installation can be achieved with jack stands and a good socket set.

Application. This red BMR Front Subframe Chassis is specifically designed to fit on the 2015-2018 GT and EcoBoost Mustangs. It does not fit on the V6 and GT350 models.

Technical Note. This Subframe Chassis Brace is not compatible on the GT models equipped with Kooks Long Tube Headers.

I just installed the BMR front subframe chassis on my 2015 Mustang ecoboost and it was easy besides drilling a hole in the subframe to line up the hole on the passenger side, but now the car keeps shaking when I drive and on a full stop but when I put it on park or neutral it stops.. why is that? And what can I do to prevent it cuz I really like these subframes

Will this work on a GT performance pack convertible or does it already have a k brace?

    KM

    • The BMR Front Subframe Chassis Brace will work with a GT PP convertible as not as it does not have any Kooks Long Tube Headers. If you currently have a brace, this brace would be a suitable improvement replacement if you already have a brace.

      Fitment problems on 2018 A10

2018 A10 guys heads up when lookin at this part. I bought this along with a strut tower brace for my 2018. Ran into problems just trying to install it as the punched holes in the subframe had tabs inside that had to be broken off with a screwdriver. Once i broke them off I had to take a file and de-burr the inside where the tab was because the sleeve would not slide into position because of the tight fit. After that, with the sleeve lined up correctly, installing the brace was easy enough for me to do by myself in the driveway. The main issue i had was that the brace was hitting the trans cooling lines as they run below and across under the trans itself. It wasnt terribly bad but they still rubbed on the brace and under medium braking i could hear them roll off and then back on top of the brace. Ended up just taking it back off due that reason. MT82 guys should not have this problem and would recommend this brace for them and those who dont mind the rubbing issue.

      K brace

Installed this product this past weekend and so far I'm loving it. The front feels more secure on cornering and daily driving. Overall I give this k brace a 5 stars and it's worth the investment.

      Great value!

Very solid piece - Love that it doesn't hang as low as other options (which I'm sure must scrape across any speedbump), and fastens very securely!

      BMR chassis brace

Purchased this to finish off what sloppyness i had up front and it did its job. The front end feels a lot more planted. A definite improvement in steering feel, as well as turn in. Install wasnt bad at all. I have a 2017 mustang gt performance pack and as expected there are those pesky tabs within the subframe... not a big deal as all it took was a flat head screw driver and hammer to pop the tabs off... then just took a snake with a magnet and fished them out. Install was a breeze after that. Would definitely recommend!

A little more info would have been nice.

It would have been nice if in the description it stated this will not fit cars with Kooks long tube headers for those of us that have Kooks headers. Instead of reading it in the questions and answers after the fact. Very frustrating

Car handles much better after installing this mod. Much tighter around corners and high speed curves...car is a point and shoot more or less now with no slop in the front end.

NOT A TRUE BOLT ON UPGRADE PART

After much comparison vs Steeda brace I decided to go with BMR because there was NOT ONE bad review on fitment issues with this brace vs steeda. That turned out to be totally NOT TRUE!! This is NOT a true bolt on part. My frame had 4 tabs (ford oem left from stamping holes in k member) that were blocking the aluminum spacer provided in kit from properly aligning and it was extremely difficult to remove the 4 tabs (2 per side one upper and one lower) and then still had too force aluminum spacer into its proper location for rear bolts. Took 2 skilled guys 3.5 hours to finally get it installed. Repeat SERIOUS FITMENT ISSUES, NOT A TRUE BOLT ON PART!!! Customer service acted surprised and said they had not heard this complaint but my Mustang is a 2016 GT w/ 6 speed manual trans and was bone stock before this....... I truly hope their customer service follows up with me because I'm curious to know more on why I had such a problem because it was anything my fault. Keep'n it in-between the ditches!!!

      Easy install

This product looks great but I have personally noticed minimal difference when driving. The install was somewhat annoying because I couldn't get the holes right from the horrible install instructions to the actual car. Along with that, where the metal support things are intended to go in the sub-frame there was a metal tab that I couldn't remove that got in the way.

      Tighten that front!

Install was relatively simple but some steps and tips are left out of the supplied directions. You can knock it out with jackstands in an hour. The brace is easy to re-color yourself if you please. After the install the front end feels tighter and my turning ability was improved to a small but noticeable degree. This brace really secures the frame and helps you lock down those turns. I'm very happy with the end result!

      Less shake in my convertible

I just added this yesterday and took my 2016 GT Convertible out for a spin. The difference is absolutely noticeable for me. There is a lot less shake in the front end, steering wheel seems a lot more firm and I don't feel like I'm going to lose control hitting bumps at speed. Took me a little longer to put it on than expected, the holes that the spacers go in had tabs left in so had to get those out, but the spacers still wouldn't slide in. I had to dremel the holes get it to fit. Once that was done installation was very easy and did it just fine on two front jack stands
