    Review & Install Video

I’m Justin with, and today I have with me 3 different brake pad options, all from Hawk Performance. We’re looking at the ceramic, the HPS, and the HP+, for both front and rear that will offer a broad range of performance that will suit everything from a bone stock daily driver, to an all out race course monster. Any one of these pads will far outperform your stock pads in just about every way, more braking performance, less fade and dust. However it’s very important you select the right pad for your application, so with that in mind, let’s break these 3 options down a little further. First up is the ceramic option from Hawk. These are going to be an ideal OE replacement and be perfectly suited for any daily driver, they’re going to bite strong without needing to be hot, be very quiet, and offer very minimal dust. This is all thanks to that ceramic compounds, which offers a nice balance between performance and everyday streetability. The next pad, the Hawk HPS will be right in the middle between the ceramics and the HP+ and will be for a daily driver or a weekend warrior, whose car does see a little track time and are just looking for a little bit more bite, and less fade. These pads utilize a therocarbon compound which does benefit from a little heat in order to perform their best but still offer great performance when cold. It is worth pointing out that these pads can be a little noisy when cold, and will definitely put off a little bit more dust than the ceramics, but all around, the HPS are a solid performer. Finally, we have the HP+. These are going to be for someone who subjects their Mustang to road courses and auto crossing where repetitive fade and high heat can kill lesser pads. Can you use these pads on the street? Yes, however, these pads feature a high temperature specific compound with a very high friction coefficient, which means these pads need to be hot and stay hot in order to perform at their best, like on a road course or an auto cross track. Once hot, these HP+ pads will bite hard, and offer great performance with very little fade, these pads tend to be very noisy and put off a good amount of dust, however since they’re geared more towards a race car versus a show car, most folks should be fine with that. Installing these pads from Hawk or any brake pads at that matter is a pretty simple task if you’ve never tackled brakes before. Due to the aggressive compounds of these pads, Hawk included a grease, to be used in conjunction with the included shim located on the back of the pad just to keep the noise level down. It’s very important that you use the grease on the back of the pad and not on the front of the pad, just so you don’t mess up your new brakes. Overall, getting the fronts and rears installed should only take you about 2 hours from start to finish. When it comes down to it, brake pads and tires are 2 of the biggest factors when it comes to helping your car stop faster. So try upgrading your Mustang to a quality pad like one of these Hawk options, and discover the difference in your braking performance.

Great Stopping Power. Give your New Edge some serious stopping power with Hawk's Performance ceramic pads. Using a ceramic compound like that used on many high-end sports cars, these pads brake much better than your Mustang's stock pads, plus they feel and sound better too. Make your 'Stang feel like a real sportscar with a set of Hawk Ceramic pads.

Daily Driver Friendly. Hawk Performance Ceramic pads bite strongly but smoothly right out of your driveway without being warmed up, making this a great choice for your daily driver. Plus, these pads use a unique linear friction profile which allows your ABS braking system to work more effectively.

Minimal Dust & Noise. The Hawk Ceramic pads use a compound that allows your brakes to work almost silently and dust far less than stock pads or even other high performance pads. They're a great choice for drivers who want to be able to show n'go with a minimum of prep time.

Application. This set of Hawk Performance Ceramic pads is sold as pair for the front only. They are designed for the 1999 to 2004 Mustang V6 or GT only. Will not fit the Bullitt, Mach 1, or Cobra. Set includes driver-side and passenger-side brake pads.

Is there a set of ceramic rotors that I combine these brake pads with? I've been told that ceramic pads do not go well with stock.

    • The Hawk Performance Ceramic Brake Pads - Front Pair (99-04 GT, V6) would actually work great with your stock rotors. Also, we don't happen to carry any ceramic rotors, but any of the rotors that are advertised to fit your vehicle will work great with those brake pads.

Do these pads work with stock rotors?

    • The hawk brake pads will fit and work with your factory rotors, but to get the optimum performance out of your brakes I would suggest installing some slotted and drilled rotors also some stainless steel brake lines. Anyways happy motoring. Justyn

These breaks are amazing. I had to change them and it was a pretty easy install. The breaks I had before were done and were making a squeaky noise. With these you stop right away and you feel much more safe to come to a stop.

      They're great

Initially these pads will feel pretty useless, break them in for a few 100km and then you will feel the difference - very good investment over oem.

      Always a great choice

I've run these pads on all three Mustangs I've owned and they're always a huge improvement over stock. With Hawks ceramic pads you get a predictable bite and limited brake dust. Most importantly, they stop the car better than any other pads I've tried

      Made in the USA

These were very easy to install. We changed the rotors at the same time so it took us about 3 hours but we weren't in a hurry. I followed the instructions on the box for break in & they work great. Very quiet. I got the ceramic because of the low dust. I was very happy to find made in the USA brake pads. 100% sure Hawk will be going on the rear when replacement is needed. American Muscle had the best price thanks again.

Best Brake Pad for your Mustang

Bought a set of these for the front and got some rears as well. The fronts are always easy to change and these are superior street pads to anything you will buy in an auto parts store for cheap. They are also very very quite with very minimal brake dust. I did use them in an autocross event as well and they worked pretty good for that as well. Most might be a little leery to spend nearly twice the money for street pads but for a quite, worry free, consistent braking pad these are far better than the rest.

      Great pad

Put these pads on with my stock rotors, broke them in. What a difference. So much better than the factory pads. A lot better pedal feel. A lot less dusting as well. Well worth the money. No squeak's, rattles, or anything of that nature. Quiet as can be.

      Don't Think, Just Buy!

My car was starting to give off an embarrassing squeak due to old, worn out brake pads so I switched them up with these and I love them. Quiet as can be, minimal dust, and they have a nice bite when braking! Never getting anything else again. Highly recommend for a daily driver!

Time to change pads. Replaced Hawk HPS with their ceramic pads. There was no drop off in performance, ceramic is equal if not better than the HPS pads.

Hawk pads and braided steel lines

I had both the Hawk ceramic pads and J&M steel braided brake lines installed front and rear. Install with fluid was $250. I took the time to bed the pads, and wasn't thrilled with the difference over stock at the time. But once everything cooled off and I drove it again, the difference was noticable. Not huge, but an improvement. Pedal is less spongy, and braking seems shorter but I can't measure that so its a guess.

      A Small Step Up

I got these because my brakes were on there way out. I did not change the rotor and just changed these out from the original ford brakes. Install was very straight forward and not difficult. I wore in the brakes just fine and have had them in my car about a month now, and am not very thrilled with them. Other reviews had me a little pumped up for how "Amazing" they would be. They do stop, however they do not feel good. My brake pedal is very squishy and does not "Bite" like others claim. My final impressions were they are a good OE replacement, if you are not changing out rotors as well they will not be much different. Just more squishy.

These Hawk Ceramic brakes are great. The install was easy and these are way better than the "street/strip" brakes. Very minimal brake dust and great fit.. *Note that they do not include the "clips". Definitely recommend these.

      Nice pads

These are very nice pads for the money. The main reason I changed was I was sick of brake dust. These are for sure an improvement over what I had on there before. Great stopping power as well.
