Review & Installation Video

Review & Install Video

Hey everybody, I'm Justin with americanmuscle.com. And this is my review of the Flowmaster Scavenger Series Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe available for your 2015 and up Mustang GT. So, the factory suitcase style resonator on the new Mustangs was certainly not a welcome edition to the GT by any means as it represents all that is evil in the car world. It robs you of both power and sound. But in true form, the after market was quick to respond with a few options. And I'm gonna be taking a closer look at the Flowmaster X-Pipe here today. So this Resonator Delete from Flowmaster is going to be for those daily drivers or even street strip S550s out there who are looking to pick up a little bit more volume out of that axle-back whether it be stock or after market and maybe even a little bit more power by, again, eliminating that restrictive factory resonator. Now, this thing is gonna still maintain those factory cats, so you're not gonna have to worry about changing your tune or anything like that. Getting into some of the specifics here with this Resonator Delete from Flowmaster, you're gonna find a full 409 grade stainless steel construction throughout, two and a half inch tubing has been mandrel bent, and of course last but not least we're looking at the Flowmaster Scavenger Series X-Pipe. By now, guys, you should know that that X-pipe design is gonna give you a little bit more of that raspy race car growl in addition to producing slightly higher top end gains and definitely a little bit more volume. So because of that, in terms of your overall change in sound, I'll give the Scavenger Series X-pipe maybe a two or three on the overall scale between one and five, because ultimately your car's mufflers or exhaust system will be the big determining factor there. One thing we did find out about this Resonator Delete from Flowmaster that is definitely worth pointing out it's that you do not have to cut if you utilize a Flowmaster Outlaw Series or American Thunder Series Axle-Back. What I'm telling you is, you're gonna essentially create your own cat-back by picking up here the Resonator Delete Scavenger Series X-Pipe and pairing it up with the Outlaw or American Thunder and essentially saving yourselves a few bucks by creating your own cat-back in the process. While on the topic of price we should mention that this thing is going to come in pretty much middle of the pack lining up with the Ford Racing option. But you do have the option like the Heartthrob Mid-Pipe or Resonator Delete bringing in the low side of the price range and options such as the Corsa for instance which are gonna round out the top of the price range. As for the install, well again guys it really is going to depend on your setup. If you do plan on installing the Scavenger Series Resonator Delete with your factory axle-back or perhaps a different after market axle-back, there will be some cutting involved. So for that reason we'll give it a two out of three wrenches on the overall difficulty meter. However, if you do install this at the same time with that Flowmaster Axle-Back that I just talked about, you shouldn't need to cut whatsoever. For that reason, we'll knock it back down to a one out of three wrenches overall in the difficulty meter. Either way, guys, figure about an hour or two total install time, basic hand tools, and perhaps a Sawzall if you are doing some cutting. If you're looking to ditch that heavy and restrictive factory resonator and crank up the volume on your exhaust in the process then you'll wanna check out the Flowmaster Scavenger Series X-Pipe available right here at americanmuscle.com.

Improves Exhaust Flow. Add even more horsepower and torque to the rear wheels of your coyote Powered S550 Mustang by replacing your restrictive factory Resonator Mid-pipe with a free flowing Flowmaster Scavenger Series Resonator Delete X-Pipe. A Flowmaster X-Pipe will greatly improve your pony's exhaust flow for an increase in overall performance.

Race Car Growl. Flowmaster's free flowing X-Pipe for the 2015-2017 GT Mustangs not only eliminates the factory resonator to help increase power, but it also adds a loud raspy, race car growl to the sound of your exhaust with its modern "X" crossover pipe design.

Reuses Stock Cats. This Flowmaster Scavenger Series X-Pipe requires cutting and removing the factory Mid Pipe resonator and clamps in place reusing the stock clamps. Best of all it reuses the factory catalytic converters saving you money and keeping you legal at the same time.

Stainless Steel Construction. Manufactured in the USA from durable 2.5" diameter free-flowing mandrel bent 16 gauge 409 stainless steel tubing for it's corrosion resistant properties, this Flowmaster Scavenger Series X-Pipe will improve exhaust flow and last a lifetime.

Application. The Flowmaster Scavenger Series Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe is specifically designed for use on the 2015-2017 GT Mustangs equipped with the coyote 5.0L DOHC V8 engine.

How come this x-pipe won't fit the v6? I've looked on other websites and they offer the same exact x-pipe for the 3.7 v6. I tripple checked and the dimensions are all the same. Thank you

  • The Flowmaster Scavenger Series Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe was specifically designed for the GT models by Flowmaster. We have noticed many V6 enthusiasts using the x-pipe for their applications however, we have not confirmed fitment. I have attached the hyperlink to Flowmaster's item page which indicates their fitment for the product. http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/accessories-and-tips/81109-scavenger-x-pipe-kit-for-250-in-tubing/

Anyone happen to have a video of this paired with the American Thunder or other series??

Nitro

  • Unfortunately, we do not have a video available for the pairing of this with the American thunder system, it would be best recommended to try and source a video of this online.

I recently paired the Flowmaster X-pipe with the outlaw exhaust. It's working great but it's way too loud for my situation. Can anyone recommend a decent axle back exhaust to pair with this X-pipe that isn't ridiculously loud? I'm considering the Roush but not sure it's going to be quiet enough. Any thoughts? ( I'm otherwise completely happy with this setup )

Oaklandish

I have the Hurst Elite axleback on my GT. This scavenger X-pipe looks like it would be a direct fit to my axleback. Can you confirm this? Thanks!

How is the Drone when this x pipe is combined with a Flowmaster outlaw axle back.

FranciscoR

The pipes at the rear end appear to be spaced differently than most other x pipes. Is this really cut-and-clamp with no further modification?

  • This Flowmaster X-pipe will be the cut and clamp design like the other X-pipes yes!

    Flowmaster Scavenger X-Pipe

If you're torn on which x-pipe to get for your GT, look no further. Although the Flowmaster Scavenger costs slightly more than some of the "competitors," in my opinion it's worth it for the gains and exhaust note. I paired the Scavenger x-pipe with Roush axle-backs and I'm totally blown away. It sounds so good that it puts a smile on my face every time I drive, and I wish I had done it sooner.

Installed with American Thunder Axle Back

Installed with American Thunder Axle Back. No cutting required anywhere. Centering the tips is not easy. Sound with the axle back is loud and solid. Not obnoxious but draws attention. But there is a lot of drone. Don't go with a Flowmaster axle back and this x pipe for a daily driver as the drone is not pleasant.

    Flowmaster X-Pipe

I got the x-pipe installed at a muffler shop and I love the sound after removing the resonator. I had Flowmaster mufflers and wanted a tougher sound which I got once I installed the x-pipe. I chose the Flowmaster x-pipe, even though its more expensive than others because I have always installed Flowmaster on my other vehicles and I have never had any issues.

    nice fit and sound.

X pipe went on like it was supposed to very good fit so I reapplied stock mufflers and tailpipes and then it wasn't loud enough for me so I ended up with the new pipes touring mufflers and now it is a little loud but it sounds good very pleased with both thank you very much

Best x pipe for flowmaster outlaws

I paired this x pipe with the flowmaster outlaw mufflers and it was probably the best choice i have ever made. The exhaust noise echoes off everything around you and really does tell people to get the heck out of the way. I chose this x pipe over the ford racing because in the video for it the scavenger series had a crackle and pop to it while the ford racing did not.

    wow

hooked up my new scavenger series X pipe with the axle back Flowmaster exhaust and it sounds great it's scavenger series x-pipe will delete the factory resonator and not only give you a more aggressive sound that will give you more power and more free-flowing exhaust.very easy to install expecially with using an axle back exhaust Flowmaster how he recommended for your new S550 should have been on there from the factory in the first place worth every penny.

    Amazing sound

I was def going for the racecar sound in my s550 and this coupled with the outlaw axlebacks gave me a mean racecar sound. Turns heads everywhere I go. This setup is much more aggressive than my roush setup on my 2012 GT

    Very aggressive sound

I first bought the Flowmaster Outlaws, then I waited a little while to get the Xpipe from Flowmaster, i was going to do the application on my 2015 Mustang GT but I gave it back to the bank my payments were too high so I got me a 2017 Mustang GT and sounds insane, very agressive, love it , I still have to get the air intake and then I will add the ghost cams . Love the sound especially when you you drive through an under path from the highway or go under a bridge , screams.
