Hey, guys. This is Sara with americanmuscle.com and today, we have a review and install the Ford Performance by Borla Sport Cat-Back Exhaust with Chrome Tips, fitting your '18 and newer Mustang GT without the active exhaust. This exhaust system improves horsepower and torque, courtesy of the straight-through sport muffler design. This system also includes an X pipe, giving your Mustang that loud and throaty exhaust tone. This exhaust system is constructed from 2 1/2-inch, 304 stainless tubing with 4-inch polished tips.I'm gonna give this exhaust a four out of five on the loudness meter. This is definitely one of the louder options. However, it does feature these straight-through mufflers which do take a bit of the edge off when compared to just a straight pipe system. Coming in at around $1,500, this exhaust is middle of the road price-wise when compared to other axle backs. Now, keep in mind this one is constructed from 304 stainless and features these nice sport mufflers where some of the lower price options are 409 stainless and feature the straight pipe construction. This exhaust is gonna get you that loud and aggressive sound you're looking for while saving you some money over the higher-priced options. Now, this option is for the Mustang owner who's looking to improve sound and performance over stock and wants one of the louder options for their Mustang. I'm giving this install a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It features a direct bolt of install with no cutting required and can be done in approximately two hours. Now, with that said, let's jump right into our install. For this install, we used an exhaust hanger removal tool, a rubber mallet, an impact gun, a 13-millimeter socket, a deep 15-millimeter socket, and an extension. All right. So the first step in our uninstall is to grab a 15-millimeter socket and loosen both the nuts on each of these pipes. Next up, we're going to remove these hangers from the subframe. You're gonna want a 13-millimeter socket and an extension, where it's gonna go right top of the sway bar. Now, you can lift up and flip these out of the way. At this point, we can separate the exhaust from these two clamps that we loosened earlier. You may want a mallet as this will make it a little bit easier to get them off.All right. Now that we have our factory exhaust uninstalled from our Mustang, we can put it side by side with this Ford Performance system, really check out some of the similarities and differences. Now right off the bat, you may have noticed they swapped the factory resonator for this nice X pipe and the system also features sport mufflers, which is gonna improve the sound of your Mustang quite a bit. This system is also constructed from 304 stainless, which is gonna hold up quite a bit better than your factory system and the whole thing is about 30 pounds lighter than factory. They finish it off with 4-inch polished tips, which I think you can agree is a nice improvement over the factory. All right. So the first step in our install is we're gonna reuse the factory clamps to bolt on the X pipe from our system. Slide those over the ends of your factory pipes. Then, you can grab your X pipe and get that loosely fitted. We're gonna tighten it down later.Next up, we have our left-side tailpipe section. We're gonna transfer over the hanger, the factory hanger, on to this before we bolt it up. All right. Now, we're gonna slide the clamp over our X pipe section on the left side so that we can get our left-side tailpipe installed. Just slip it over the X pipe loosely, and then we're gonna move back to our factory hanger and hook it over the subframe. You can line up the bolt hole and reinstall the factory bolt. Repeat that process on the other side. All right. At this point, we are gonna slide our clamps over the tailpipe section and out of the way for now. Now, we can grab our muffler section and get it installed in the hanger. And then line up your piping. Repeat that process on the other side. At this point, you can grab a 13-millimeter socket and an extension and tighten down the bolts on your exhaust hangers. Now, starting at the front of your exhaust and working your way back, tighten down all of the clamps. All right. So, that is gonna do it for the review and install of our Ford Performance Exhaust. Remember, for all things Mustang, keep it at americanmuscle.com.
