Should I upgrade my intercooler with the purchase of this kit also?

    • The Ford Performance Cold Air Intake w/ ProCal Voucher does not require the need to upgrade your intercooler. However, upgrading the intercooler is not a bad option especially to keep those internal temperatures down which will create easy power.

      A great improvement

The ecoboost (stock) leaves a little to be desired. However this tune makes a great difference, much more responsive and much faster of a car. Fuel consumption remains the same. The only downside is that this tune does take to 'kick in'; you'll need to drive a good 200-300km to get it fully dialed in! Also, the rubber lip on the open air intake is very flimsy, worth finding a fix so it bends the right way.

      First Mod

Chose to make this my first mod based on the great reviews. Paid $250 to have dealership install to maintain warranty (certified pre-owned). Took dealer 3 hours to install and run tune. I’m satisfied with this mod but I now think I may have been better off keeping the stock intake and purchasing a tune instead.

      Wakes up the Ecobeast

I had this kit installed at the dealer to maintain my warranty. It definitely wakes up the Ecoboost- it's more responsive in the mid-range and pulls way harder up top. Doesn't seem to make any difference at low RPM when you're not making boost, though. I find myself driving in manual shift mode more often now so I can have the fun of winding up the motor and feeling all the extra torque.

Total install start to finish took about an hour. Simple to install the CAI and the instructions that come with the download get you straight through the tune. This is worth every penny and really changes the way the car runs. Would highly recommend this to anyone thinking about purchasing.

      Faster than a 3V GT

I had this tune installed on my 2017 Ecoboost Mustang 6spd manual last year August at my local Ford dealer for $220 and I've never looked back. The tune on my car had no learning curve, the car was quicker right out of the dealer. The most immediate difference is the added torque and later discovered that the car pulls much harder all the way to redline and doesn't fall on its face like before the tune. When stock I raced my friends automatic 3v GT and lost by about 3 cars, now with the tune not only did I beat him but I pulled about 5 cars ahead before hitting 120mph, the ecoboost gained ground on the all the way until it hit its limiter. Btw this tune does not remove your speed limiter so all Non-PP Ecoboost will max out at 120mph like mine lol.

Like everybody else discovered, it took a couple weeks for the tune to kick in. But once it did, WOW! Definitely a more serious sports car now.

      Nice Tune for Ecoboost

Arrived promptly and in good condition as has everything I've purchased from American Muscle. My car was already out of the 36,000 mile warranty, so I did the install myself. Took about two hours to install the air intake and reprogram the computer. Heads up, a deep socket is required to take apart and reassemble the air intake. I didn't have one so I was stuck using a wrench a quarter turn at a time. With proper tools, this install would've taken even less time. Noticed that throttle response was more snappy in normal mode immediately after the install, but it took about 60 - 120 miles to realize the full performance improvement. To me, biggest difference is noticed in second gear, the car really pulls now from 20-40 mph in second. Also, the torque is smooth throughout the power band, all the way from 2,500 - 6,000 RPMs. Would recommend if you're looking for a nice performance boost backed by Ford.

      MUST HAVE!

Impressive... Simply impressive! I was actually starting to be a little disappointed with my stock EcoBoost. I had it installed, got it back and for 2 days i was even more disappointed. The car was slower than it was initially. But after my car recognized the tune. MY GOODNESS!!! Its like a completely different car. If you have an EcoBoost this product is a strongly recommended first purchase.

Incredible product that saves you warranty!

Alright so I had been wanting to buy this pack for about 4 months. I finally got it installed and it’s like a whole new car. I have the Ecoboost premium, so it comes with the extra “sport” mode. And let me say once I got this CAI (as well as the ford performance gt350 filter) and tune, put that bad boy in sport mode and wham!! The torque is pretty intense. Like head slamming into the headrest fast. The other reason this pack is so great, is that you can take it to ford or any other ASE certified mechanic and it won’t void our warranty. That’s the great thing about ford performance parts. All are covered by the warranty. For example the Borla catback exhaust is considered ford performance parts and will not void your warranty. So if you’re looking for a great sounding exhaust and keep your warranty intact, that’s the way to go.

      Great results

Got everything on time and well packed from American Muscle. Had it installed by AntSpec in Fountain Valley. Together with the receipt from them and the paperwork from AM are needed to submit to Ford to maintain warranty. After getting tune installed immediately noticed car felt heavy and slow. Next to AntSpec is a road where I was able to do 8 pulls from 30-60, coast back to 30mph all in 4th. Drove another 10 miles to an open road and did 6 pulls from 30-75 in 4th gear and boom!!! My car was definitely on another level. For the rest of the fuel cycle the car continuously got smoother and the drop in the power band other’s experienced was gone. When I put my foot on the gas, the car just keeps going faster and faster.., a lot of fun. My results were similar to what most people experience. I am pretty much limited to adding an intercooler and exhaust if I want to stay dealer friendly... but it’s good knowing the car has Its warranty. It’s my daily driver. Also, my gas mileage improved with the tune. If you want your mustang to feel like a sports car as a daily driver and you don’t need or want to add bolt ons, these is a great choice.

Makes it work like it should

I live in CO so the air is thin --- finally my 2015 Mustang Roush RS1 can breathe. Response is better, the power is even through the throttle, and it doesn't fall off at 5k RPM. This was a great addition and if you have an ASE Certified Mechanic (doesn't have to be Ford Dealer) install it and turn in the info they need to Ford so the warranty stays active. Search online for the form. I was going to go with the Roush CAI and tune but Ford DOES NOT honor the warranty (Roush said I could pay an extra $395 for it to be under warranty. So dumb.) So I went with the Ford product and it's been great. As a side note --- if you don't have them get 1" wheel spacers all around. Makes it look wide like it should have from stock.

This makes the car drive how it should be stock

OK, I've been eyeballing this upgrade for almost a year since I bought my 2016 mustang. I have been very hesitant to pull the trigger on performance parts due to the risk of voiding warranty coverage. The idea of getting a ford performance tune and still keeping warranty coverage convinced me to pull the trigger. One thing I will point out is that it does take the engine a little bit of time to adjust. I drove it twice the same day that I picked the car up from the mechanic, and both times I could feel the car's throttle getting more and more responsive. Day 2 (after driving approx 50 miles total since install) I could tell the engine was fully awake. There are two very noticeable differences in driving. First, the turbo lag/hesitation from a stop is *nearly* gone. You still have to wait for the boost to hit but now the engine doesn't feel powerless while the turbo is spooling up. It is a MUCH more enjoyable driving experience. Second, stock the car's acceleration and power drops very sharply on high RPM. This changes the power curve dramatically and you can still feel the car pulling well past 5k RPM now. It's also nice that you can step on the gas pedal while in 6th on the highway to pass someone without the need to downshift first... All in all, for the 750 bucks spent (for parts mechanic installing) This was extremely worth it for me. This car is my daily driver that I've had stock for a year, and it feels like I've got a new car more than I upgraded my existing one...

      A Ford Product

Excellent performing Ford Procal Tune!. Power, torque and transmission shift points firmed up. All aspects of tune work very well and if installed by dealer the new car warranty stays in effect. 25 peak horses added with additional 70 lb. ft. torque. 100 horses at top max rpm limit (approx.) under the curve. under the curve power added is very linear at 25hp to 100hp. It will put a grin on your face! and that is where the fun in this hobby is!.
