    Features & Details

    • 8.8" Gear Installation Kit
    • Ideal for Rebuilds or Gear Swaps
    • Essential for 60,000+ Mile Ponys
    • Compatible with Both IRS and Solid Rear Axles
    • Fits 1986-2014 V8 and 2011-2014 V6 - Excludes 2013-2014 Boss and GT500
Perfect for Installs or Rebuilds. When installing new gears in your Pony it only makes sense to replace the old worn seals and bearings while the housing is apart, especially if it has over 60,000 miles on the odometer. A Ford Racing Ring and Pinion Installation Kit is extra insurance against the need for another costly tear down and rebuild.

Complete Kit. This Ford Racing kit comes complete with all the components needed to swap out your ring and pinion gear. It includes pinion and carrier shims, crush sleeve, pinion seal, pinion nut, ring gear bolts, Shelby GT500 high-torque pinion bearing, heavy duty carrier bearings, cover gasket and all the required hardware.

Attention 2010 and newer Mustang Owners. Starting in 2010 Ford changed the inner rear gear pinion bearing in all 8.8" equipped Mustangs. This kit includes the required 2012 Shelby GT500 High-torque pinion bearing.

Application. This Ford Racing Ring and Pinion Installation Kit is designed for use with 8.8in rear axle equipped Mustangs, including the 1986-2014 V8 and 2011-2014 V6 models. Works with both Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) and solid rear axles.

Technical Note: Does not fit the 2013 Boss or 2013-2014 Shelby GT500 Mustangs with axle codes S-215-D and S-219-D.

If I buy this do I still need the pinion bearing for my 2013 v6 or does this come with it

        • This will come with the 2012 GT 500 High Torque Pinion Bearing.

What is the difference between this kit and the motive install and bearing kit?

        • The difference between the Ford Performance Ring & Pinion Installation Kit and Motive Rear End Installation Kit would be the high torque bearing. The Motive Rear End Installation Kit will come with the bearings and seals that you would need to change the rear end for your car. But, if you have a higher performance vehicle it is recommended to go with Ford Performance Ring & Pinion Installation Kit.

Why does this kit not fit the 13-14 GT500? Mine has a torsen diff and from my knowledge the only difference is the larger inner bearing?

        • The reason being is the bearings that are included with the kit. For GT500s you will need a kit that will come with the correct bearings for your application.

Would this kit fit on a 15-17 v6? If not, do you guys offer a kit for the s550's?

        • Unfortunately, this kit will not work on 15-17 Mustangs. We do have a selection of gears for the S550s, you can find them here: https://www.americanmuscle.com/2015-mustang-gears.html#shop-by2

I have a 2014 GT with track pack - 3.73 Torsen diff and it is developing the dreaded "whine". Will this kit (and specifically the high torque bearing) fit my Torsen differential 8.8 rear end? Scott 1 answer
The description for this kit states that this is a "complete kit", and also "Attention 2010 and newer... This kit includes the required 2012 Shelby GT500 High-torque pinion bearing." Which means that it does include the correct pinion bearing for, say, a 2012 V6. At the same time the site suggests to "Add 2010 8.8in Rear Gear Pinion Bearing" for additional price. Q: does or does not the kit have the correct rear pinion bearing included? 1 answer

            Ford rear rebuild

Everything needed except the great oil witch I had. If you know what your doing you'll find this kit has all you need and and will take about 4hours to have your rear back in place. I added the mini spool at the same time with 3.31 gears. Rear spins strong. Thank you.

            2008 Mustang GT

The 4.10 gears are great. Definitely wakes the car up. I have a slight whine at about 65 to 80 mph, but that could be install, but not serious enough for me to tear it back apart. I have a custom exhaust with Borla mufflers. These gears will give you a louder ride due increased rpm. My rpm is about 3000 at 80 mph. My gas mileage took a big hit. Also due to increase rpm it will put extra load on the engine so high mileage engines beware. other than the louder cruising speeds, gas mileage I have to say it a win for me. Wish that the product reviews would have mentioned the negatives, I would have choose different options but hey they gotta get there dollar. Hope the review helps someone.

            Great Quality, best price!

Great quality, best price and easy installation. Just make sure your pinion pre load is set correctly, otherwise you will need to disassemble the whole thing again and may ruin your bearing. The biggest challenge was to get the backslash set as I changed the differential as well.

Alot better than the other kits

Alot better quality than the other kits, especially the bearings and the ring gear bolts. I would only suggest ford performance bolts. the motive ones are micky mouse compared to these.
