      Description

      Perfect for Installs or Rebuilds. When installing new gears in your Pony it only makes sense to replace the old worn seals and bearings while the housing is apart, especially if it has over 60,000 miles on the odometer. A Ford Racing Ring and Pinion Installation Kit is extra insurance against the need for another costly tear down and rebuild.

      Complete Kit. This Ford Racing kit comes complete with all the components needed to swap out your ring and pinion gear. It includes pinion and carrier shims, crush sleeve, pinion seal, pinion nut, ring gear bolts, Shelby GT500 high-torque pinion bearing, heavy duty carrier bearings, cover gasket and all the required hardware.

      Attention 2010 and newer Mustang Owners. Starting in 2010 Ford changed the inner rear gear pinion bearing in all 8.8" equipped Mustangs. This kit includes the required 2012 Shelby GT500 High-torque pinion bearing.

      Application.
      This Ford Racing Ring and Pinion Installation Kit is designed for use with 8.8in rear axle equipped Mustangs, including the 1986-2014 V8 and 2011-2014 V6 models. Works with both Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) and solid rear axles.

      Technical Note: Does not fit the 2013 Boss or 2013-2014 Shelby GT500 Mustangs with axle codes S-215-D and S-219-D.

        Essential for a rebuild

        Did a full rebuild on an abused diff... definitely essential for it. All fit perfectly and no weird noises/vibration. I had a shop do it since it was the entire diff parts replacement and I just don't have the equipment/know-how.

        Best Kit on the Market

        I'vw bought several rear end rebuild kits like this one. This Ford Performance kit is by far the best one of the bunch. You get the high torque inner pinion bearing, new (and correct) ring gear bolts, even some marking compound. You get a crush sleeve and nut, which is nice in case you screw up the first sleeve/nut that will come with your gear set. Very well packaged and everything comes in separate small boxes inside one larger box. This kit is superior to the Motive kit.

        OEM Fit

        Great product! OEM quality. Never installed one of these before, completed in an afternoon inside of garage. Put on 2008 Mustang GT/CS with over 250,000 miles on original diff. Used with the Ford Performance Traction-LOK Limited Slip Differential w/ Carbon Discs - 31 Spline 8.8 in. Had everything I needed, minus the gear oil (75w90, 3 qts) and friction modifier (1 small bottle). No improvement for performance, just no more "whine" every time I turn left or right

        Good Start

        Great quality but inadequate pinion shim options. Came with a bunch of the same thickness shims so it was difficult to get the correct pinion shim stack thickness, eventually had to settle on a less than ideal combination of shims which gave me good backlash (0.011") and a darn fine gear contact pattern, but still yielded gear whine at 70 and worse at 80 mph on the drive/float. As an ASE certified Master Mechanic, I recommend ordering an additional pinion shim assortment and an identical rear (large) pinion bearing to modify as a set up bearing for any new ring/pinion or diff carrier install. That way the pinion shim stack thickness can be adjusted and changed easily without destroying a new bearing each time.

      • This will come with the 2012 GT 500 High Torque Pinion Bearing.

      What is the difference between this kit and the motive install and bearing kit?

      • The difference between the Ford Performance Ring & Pinion Installation Kit and Motive Rear End Installation Kit would be the high torque bearing. The Motive Rear End Installation Kit will come with the bearings and seals that you would need to change the rear end for your car. But, if you have a higher performance vehicle it is recommended to go with Ford Performance Ring & Pinion Installation Kit.

      • This is a stock image, the actual product may differ. This is compatible with 2000 GT models.

      If I bought the Carbon Discs would I still be using all the parts supplied or will I have unused parts from this kit? I wanted to rebuild/beef up my diff since I'll have it opened.

      Is there a kit on the market that works with the 2013 GT500?
