Perfect for Installs or Rebuilds. When installing new gears in your Pony it only makes sense to replace the old worn seals and bearings while the housing is apart, especially if it has over 60,000 miles on the odometer. A Ford Racing Ring and Pinion Installation Kit is extra insurance against the need for another costly tear down and rebuild.

Complete Kit. This Ford Racing kit comes complete with all the components needed to swap out your ring and pinion gear. It includes pinion and carrier shims, crush sleeve, pinion seal, pinion nut, ring gear bolts, Shelby GT500 high-torque pinion bearing, heavy duty carrier bearings, cover gasket and all the required hardware.

Attention 2010 and newer Mustang Owners. Starting in 2010 Ford changed the inner rear gear pinion bearing in all 8.8" equipped Mustangs. This kit includes the required 2012 Shelby GT500 High-torque pinion bearing.

Application. This Ford Racing Ring and Pinion Installation Kit is designed for use with 8.8in rear axle equipped Mustangs, including the 1986-2014 V8 and 2011-2014 V6 models. Works with both Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) and solid rear axles.

Technical Note: Does not fit the 2013 Boss or 2013-2014 Shelby GT500 Mustangs with axle codes S-215-D and S-219-D.

Will this kit work for installing the Boss 302 M-4204-MB differential in a 2007 8.8" rear end? Just asking based on the exclusion of the the 2013 Boss in the fitment.

  • There may be a website error in the inclusion of that as the 2012 and 2013 boss rear ends are exactly the same as far as components used, so, while this is not designed for that specific use on that vehicle, would be able to be used with that setup.

What's the difference between this kit with the high torque bearing and the one without which one is better for my car since it says they both fit?

  • The high torque bearing has a different pitch to the bearings and needs its own race. 86-2009 has to be used with 86-2009 race. 2010 -2014 has to use the matching race for the high torque bearing. The bearings cant be used with the wrong race. You wont be able to set the gear up bc the bearing will not seat properly. - Just figured this out for myself! it only took a week of trying to figure out why the bearing I bought from the local parts store wouldnt work in a 2014. BINGO

    Ring pinion install kit

    When servicing my rear end in my cobra I decided this was the only way to go. Tlhe quality of the products are they're its manufactured by ford racing which makes me feel very satisfied about my purchase. Car performs beautifully I recommend this to anyone servicing they're mustang or doing a rear end rebuild. A must!!

    FRPP never better

    I purchased this kit to complete the install of the FRPP 3.73 gears. My gear kit did come with the Motive Rear end master installation kit. But after speaking with a rep from Ford Performace I upgraded to the Ford Gear Instalation kit. The main reason for the switch was the high torque bearings. I have some bolt on upgrades and plan to replace the drive shaft later with the full intent on hitting the gears hard, so if you want peace of mind that you won't have to have the rear rebuilt again later from hard launches than do yourself a favor and buy this kit. I had a shop do the install and I recommend if you have the money to go ahead and invest in the FRPP Trac loc rear differential. Just a suggestion but it made my gear install a lot simpler according to the mechanic. I can also feel the rear end really bite down hard now as well. You will need to calibrate the vehicles speedometer after your install if you choose to swap out the gear ratio.

    Great Install

    Decided to replace gear -diff and why not go with the ford racing brand. Install kit comes with everything you need which makes the install that much easier.

    Ford Racing Ring PInion Installation Kit

    What can I say. Ford Racing parts all the way. It was suggested by Ford Racing to use the High Torque Bearing on my 2004 Cobra. Everything is up and running and I'm confident I have a solid/strong Read IRS with this setup!

    If it lasts; worth the extra money.

    Installed 4:10 gears with "cheap" bearings several years ago. 20k miles and the pinion bearing started squealing. Had shop install this kit and new u-joint; feels very solid and hoping for better longevity from this setup. $350 install cost and only took few hours.

    Absolutely necessary for gear swaps or just any type of noise coming from rear end!

    After noticing a differential grind and whine, I felt like something in my rear end wasn't doing so well, so I ordered this kit to make sure everything would be replaced, turns out my pinion bearing had gone bad. The gt500 high torque bearing is huge! and with a good mechanic and installation everything bolted right in without any issues. Used 2.5 quarts of royal purple 75-140 and no more grinding or whine! Extremely pleased with how well this kit works! Its a must buy for any gear situation.

    Great buy, exceded my expectations

    I had this installed by my favorite Ford dealer, I spent much time reviewing my options and talking with their Mustang expert who has done several Mustang modifications. He highly recommended this product for fit and quality and I in turn am happy with price and service and ease of ordering. I couldn't be happier with the performance. It is definitely a noticeable difference when you hit the gas, but not too much for street driving. I highly recommend this for someone looking to tweak the performance for street driving and fun.

    Almost Complete but lacking.

    This kit seemed to have everything. Then, I realized there was no "oil slinger, as they call it on the AM videos. This looks like a shim that fits between the outer pinion bearing and pinion nut. I damaged mine after taking it out doimg something else thinking I had a new one, but no. There was a new one of everything else but this. Now, I will have to go to the dealer to try to order it and wait. Save your used one or be sure to order a new one separately.

    Could the kit possibly include anything else?? No, you get it all!

    Just put some 4:10s in my 2013 T56Magnum swapped coyote. The install kit includes everything you could need save for the newly designed pinion bearing. Everything is sealed up in a nice plastic bag so no chance of pieces going missing. There are plenty of shims, bearings, marking compound, etc and it all went together perfectly. This is a no-brainer if you're doing a gear swap. Don't ruin your afternoon trying to find the right bearing or correct shim when everything you'll need is included in this handy kit.

    Must have for gear swaps

    This kit has it all! If you are going to install new gears or just need bearings for the differential this is the kit you need. It has all the bearings,bearing grease seal, shims, ring gear bolts, pinion nut and crush sleeve. It even has the marking compound to check the gear patten. And its ford parts, so you know it will fit.

    not intended for daily hwy use...city cruz.n is fun !...aaand at the track is where they come to life !!! ( 28"-29" drag radials or track slicks recommended with soft compound for traction)

    Perfect install kit!

    This kit worked well. I was impressed with it;s quality. I had used Yukon kits in the past and this Ford Racing kit was superb. I do get very precise when setting up a differential. I do use a dial indicator and sometimes it's necessary to press off the pinion bearing and re-shim and this bearing did not deflect or distort when being pressed back off. This is a nice install kit.
