Hello, I have a 2017 California Special that has hood vents that sit almost directly over where the CAI would be. Could this create a problem in rain?

    RandalP

    • We have not had any issues reported with the Ford Performance Power Pack 2 ingesting water on cars with hood vents.

Will this affect the sound of my mustang ?

    EdmundT

    • Installing this power pack will have affect on the sound of the vehicle. Everything should set itself once the car is driven around 100 or so miles fro the computer to relearn with the new throttle body and intake.

Could I get more info on the "no-lift-shift"? I don't do any drag racing, but do lap the car occasionally. I'm curious if this would cause wheel spin if I had to shift while turning for some reason. Also, is it possible to eliminate that feature from the tune?

    Greg

    • Hello! No lift shift is a process in which you don't take your foot off the gas while shifting, I am unable to offer any insight on whether or not you would have wheel spin, as it depends on so many factors such as your tires, the temperature, the track etc. but I would definitely recommend saving the no-lift-shift for the straights.

      Why not

With all the after market tuners it is refreshing to have Ford offer a comparable product that does not affect the warranty. Increase in torque and the difference in shifting was well worth the cost, only down side is the disposable cold air filter. Good solid tune with good enhancements to HP and torque and little to no effect on MPG. The install of the throttle body is a little involved, but the intake body is a breeze. 2 hours installation tops and 30 minutes of that is downloading the tune. Make sure and have a battery charger on hand, tune won't download if battery goes below 12 volts.

      Power pack stage 2

Awesome kit as far as performance goes. The one thing that really irritates me, is the simple fact it made my car a lot more quiet in the cabin. I have the Corsa Extreme paired with this performance pack and it's almost dead silent now. I have to get on it to make me remember I have an exhaust. I may end up returning this kit and going with a different setup. I'm the kind of guy who likes to have my Muscle car performance with the loud sound.

      Power Pack 2: Water Leakage

This product is a great upgrade. It adds plenty of power and throttle response. I combined it with the pedal max device and 3.73 gears. I have seen several questions about water getting in the hood vent. THIS IS POTENTIALLY A PROBLEM. when the remnants of hurricane Harvey came through my town of Memphis, TN we received a heavy amount of driving rain. My mustang was parked outside and a significant amount of rainwater found its way into the air box soaking the filter and fouling up the mass air sensor. All was solved by allowing it to air out and there was no long term damage. I have driven the car in the rain and noticed a few drops of water in the bottom of the air box at times. I would suggest that you use a piece of tarp to cover the air box under the hood when washing the car or parking for a period of time in the rain and obviously avoiding spraying water in the hood vent. After that incident I do avoid driving the car in the rain if I can especially since I don't have covered parking at work. I do keep a piece of tarp in the car if needed. Hope this helps everyone avoid having their car stall in the middle of the road during rush hour in heavy rain!

      Just Wow

Was hesitant to purchase this pack, but I'm glad i DID. Throttle response and hp gains were noticed right away! I can feel my neck swing back going thru every gear with the " no lift shift". Don't think just buy, its worth every penny! Trust me.

      Excellent Product

Car feels 300 lbs lighter because of the extra power. The change in shifting for the automatic transmission was amazing. Why Ford doesn't make this standard in all Mustangs is beyond reason other than they can make more money. Stop thinking and just buy the package.

      Noticeable Gains

Would have been 5 stars for performance upgrade with a warranty, 4 stars because my procal 3 was a dud. Not to worry, as far as I can tell I'm the only person who had this issue. Long story short, Ford performance sent a new one. But I will say, if you plug in the procal and it doesn't pull vin or vehicle data, it's likely an issue with the unit. Call ford performance and they can sort it out. I did notice an improvement on acceleration numbers and noticed the car performs slightly better over stock (no, it's not going to match gains from a custom tune or other CAI/TB upgrades, but you keep your warranty). Gas mileage is the same and cabin noise is the same, despite what others may say. On heavy acceleration you will hear a slight whistle compared to stock, but that's it. Overall very happy with my purchase and definitely recommend for a light upgrade.

      OH my god

I really cant believe the difference. I have a 17 GT PP, and this setup wakes that Bit*h up, no lie. It really changed the overall feel of my car. I only have 1,000 miles on her, and owning mustangs prior, its the best mod I have ever bought. Installed it was simple, less than 2 hours. Also, FYI the 2017 sound tube is not installed with any bolts, it just pulls off the fire wall, but its extremely difficult to remove. JUST BUY IT.

      Great Mod for your Mustang

This is a great Mod and gives your Mustang plenty of power. The only issue you should be aware of and it is really not an issue, is that when shutting off the engine you hear a light "pop". This noise is the Throttle Body closing.

      Worth the wait

Had to wait 4 months on backorder but it was worth it. Allow the car around 100 miles of driving for the computer to relearn with the new parts and tune. At 100 miles mine really picked up in throttle response and power. Sounds better too. Overall very happy with the extra power and retaining the warranty on my car.

      Great Upgrade for the Price

I was scoping out various cold air intakes and tuners and decided to go with the Power Pack 2 from Ford... without going into too much detail this mod is quite a bargain for the power and torque gains not to mention the improved feel of shifting gears which I believe is worth the price alone... overall I am completely satisfied with how my mustang performs now... and feel it should have come this way from the factory.

      Great difference

After installing on my 2015 GT manual with 3.55 gears, I now have much greater response in lower RPMS. Ive heard others say it and I agree; this is how the car should have been released. The exhaust note isnt louder or deeper, but it does sound heavier, if that makes sense. I feel it actually makes driving in the rain a safer thing to do because you can now pass people while in 6th gear without any need to down shift. That allows better traction in slick conditions. I installed myself. It was pretty straight forward, but considering this was a part for a ford released by ford, it seemed kinda hokey. Where the air comes into the box is not a perfect fit by any means, but hey, it works. I recommend looking up videos in conjunction with provided instructions. As someone that doesnt make a lot of money, I say its worth the price tag. It doesn't require an imagination to see the difference. This isnt a placebo effect, it really does work.

      Heck yeah!

The 5.0 is already a great motor in my opinion. But this kit took my 5.0 to a level Ford should have done from the factory. Well worth the money! An aftermarket CAI and Tuner cost just as much if not more and this one has the throttle body too! The no lift shift is a cool feature. I trust in Ford Performance products. I’m happy with my purchase.

      Really Feel tthe Difference

Bought from AM and had Ford install to keep my warranty. Low end torque is amazing and there is a noticeable power increase over stock. But beware, the extra power is just going to leave you hungry for more. One day a supercharger, but until then, this power pack 2 set up will hold me over.

Never would go back to stock

The difference is very noticeable on the power and throttle response. The low end torque is great, the engine starts making power way earlier now as opposed to the stock tune. Installed it myself, took a few hrs. Not a bad install, pretty easy. I would never go back to the stock tune, this is how it should have been right out of the factory. my mpg went down .5
