Hello, I have a 2017 California Special that has hood vents that sit almost directly over where the CAI would be. Could this create a problem in rain?

Maybe nobody is very concerned about the impact on mph but it could be an issue. Will the Power Pack 2 change the mph? Even if there is no lead foot syndrome ?

        • When using the Ford Performance Power Pack 2 or other tuners, mpg will see a slight increase under normal driving conditions. Typically the gains are <1mpg.

Will this affect the sound of my mustang ?

        • Installing this power pack will have affect on the sound of the vehicle. Everything should set itself once the car is driven around 100 or so miles fro the computer to relearn with the new throttle body and intake.

Does this performance pack work with a stock exhaust system and if so, will I have to retune it again if I decide to go with an aftermarket exhaust??

        • The Ford Performance Power Pack 2 will be compatible with the stock exhaust and would not require a new tune for any catback or axle back exhausts.

            Great first mod

The ford performance power pack 2 option for a cold air intake is a great first mod. It really wakes up the coyote motor and has a whole lot of pick up in the lower and top end region of the power band definitely worth the money

            Recent upgrade

I've been researching this mod for more than a year and finally decided to give it a try. I figured it would be a safe bet since ford was programming their own product. Install was fairly simple. My only issues was the design of the cold air dam and connection to the outside air section in the grill. The roush cold air intake that I replaced was a better design and fitment. The power increase was definitely noticeable and I'm glad that I went this route. The software install took twice as long as the hardware. Couldn't get the files to download even with the help of a teenager. The help line was closed until Monday. Anyway, after trying multiple times on multiple computers I was able to get the files and they installed within 5 mins to the car. Forgot to install the throttle body control cable and had to do that. Afterward everything worked fantastic. Although I don't care for the NLS. Wish it could be deactivated.

            More Power!

This upgrade has been a long time coming. Ever since I got my 2016 Mustang GT/PP I felt that I had more than enough power, especially compared to everyone else out on the road. Finally after a few years it was time to take it to the next level. I chose the Ford Performance Power pack 2 because I wanted to keep it all in the Ford family and liked the reviews I saw here and on other sites. Once I tackled that ridiculous sound tube the installation of the power pack was relatively simple. It took me a total of 3 hours and 2 t-shirt changes to make the swap complete. (It is hot here in Florida!) After the Cal was uploaded the car started right up with a deeper, more resonant tone. The low end power increase is clearly evident in the seat of the pants dyno. I may have to make a small adjustment with the evap lines and the engine appearance cover as there may be a slight pinch under hard 1st and 2nd gear acceleration causing a slight sputter to occur. If anyone has experienced this please comment with your solution. All in, this was a great purchase, everything arrived quickly from American Muscle and the price was competitive. I was hoping that there might be a new Calendar in there, do you still do that?

Absolutely must have! All the reviews I read about increased hp and torque are true. Not even same car after the install. You won’t be disappointed . I had Ford do it, was a little pricey but it was done properly the first time with no issues. I had to call 4 different ford dealerships before I found one that I thought was competent. Take your time and have the right people do it for you

Definitely would recommend...installed w ease... took around 2 hrs, including the download time...As far as performance, definite low end increase, which seemed to enhance after 200-300 miles...expect to hear a significant difference now that she’s breathing properly..In retrospect it was well worth the price..you will not be disappointed...

What a great package from Ford Performance

Fairly easy install, about 2 hours. The software took about the same time to download (could've been that I am technology impaired or that my laptop is 10 years old). I got a check engine light after install, P0315 crankshaft position variation not learned. To correct this, you have to go to the configuration tap, and click on the crank position re-learn. It will prompt you to start the engine and rev to 4000 RPM. This will clear the light. That being said, Well worth the money for some quick gains. I also installed the Ford performance by Borla touring cat back exhaust, and couldn't be happier with the results! A great combination for under $2400 bucks!

You can read all the other positive reviews, I just got mine done on my 2015 LE. I love it, even with the stock exhaust it sounds much better. Especially at the lower RPMs when you first get on it. The power is noticeably better. I am very happy with the outcome.

            Ford Performance Power Pack 2

Great upgrade for a stock s550 mustang. You can feel the power increase, especially down low. Throttle response is way better than stock, shift points feel cleaner too. Tune was very easy to install, CAI took the longest to install. Overall, very pleased with this power pack.

I had mine professionally installed and couldn't be happier. The bottom end torque makes the car squat and go. At the top end you can just feel the horse's faster and stronger than ever. This is perfect for day to day, red light to red light fun. It'll pin you back in the seats!

            Noticeable performance and tone improvements

It took me about 3.5 hours to install, including the load of the tune. I took my time, carefully following the instructions. A measurable portion of that time was removing infamous nut holding the sound tube to the firewall. Took awhile to find right combination of socket extensions and knuckles to remove this nut. Performance gain and improved tone was immediately obvious. Very satisfied!

            My thoughts and opinion.

So I decided to go ahead with this purchase on a 17 mustang GT performance pack. Here in California, no ford dealer would install this package for under $600.00. So with that said, I checked with ford performance and they said that i can have any certified master tech install it so I did. The install was fairly quick and easy. I stood there while it was being done. As for the gains, the car felt a lot more responsive. Definitely Has a deeper exhaust note. Power and feels largely increased due to the higher rpm range. Only cons after running this set up for a lil over a month I noticed the car had a slight ping. California’s 91 octane is horrible. I went with Lucas octane booster with every fill and that cured the issue.

            Worth every penny

I just put this on my 2016 GT PP mustang. The car just rolled over 30K miles when I put this on several weeks ago. I did my homework and figured this was the best bang for the buck. I am glad I did. The throttle response and low end picked up significantly. The car, I swear even drives better. I don't beat my car up and usually drive it like a granny. I do, however, enjoy on-ramps on the interstate and now I can tell you I enjoy them even more. I think the car should have come like this from the factory since Ford is willing to honor the warranty I figure they know that the tune and set up is safe. I installed this myself and it took me longer than most mainly because I took my time to make sure I did things right without haste. The sound tube removal that seems to be such a pain in the butt took me about five minutes since I used multiple extensions and a swivel to reach the retaining nut. I used an air ratchet and I got it off easily. I would recommend this product to anyone looking to eliminate the low-end lag that the S550 is notorious for. Thanks to AM for sending the product so promptly. Also, look at some of the installation videos online since the installation instructions from the Ford Racing website seem to be more of a check list than a how-to. Steve

ONLY GOOD IF YOU WANT YOUR WARRANTY

Had this Power Pack for quite a while, although I never had it installed because my local Ford Dealers are all run by children and couldn't figure out how to tune the car... I was left CARLESS for THREE WHOLE DAYS (during Summer 2018).. I got sick of it and just installed it myself this past week (Around New Years 2019 and I should also mention that Fit and Finish is what you would expect from OEM Shelby parts). I do notice a difference however, it is not night and day, Butt dyno definitely feels it in the mid range, however IAT is higher while in stop and go traffic (however this is not a big deal since it is an open element 'cold' air intake and I doubt anyone would be racing in traffic)... However, since I installed this myself, there goes the warranty which I personally could care less for. If you care about your warranty then this is the best route for your money. But, if you don't care about your warranty, you could easily go Lund or PBD tunes (not even with an aftermarket CAI as I'm sure with the stock airbox, a Lund or PBD tune would spank my car in a race). Overall, I would recommend for anyone who wants to keep their warranty and wants an extra 'oomph' from their coyote, however obviously... A Lund or PBD tune would net larger gains.
