    Hey, what's going on, guys? Adam here with americanmuscle.com. Today I'm bringing you a quick overview of the JLT 3.0 Oil Separator in your choice of either black or anodized, fitting all '11 to '17 GTs, '12 to '13 Boss 302s and '15 to '17 GT350s. So in this video, I'll be talking about the functionality of an oil separator, as well as its materials and construction. Toward the end, I'll even talk you through the installation process, which I'll tell you up front will get a very, very simple one-out-of-three wrenches on our difficulty meter. Let's jump right into it.The JLT 3.0 Oil Separator is gonna be for the '11 to '17 GT, the '12 to '13 Boss 302 or the '15 to '17 GT350 owner out there looking to pick up a part to reduce and actually prevent engine sludge from bogging down your engine's performance, all at the same time reducing blowby. Now if you're not entirely familiar with what an oil separator, otherwise known as a catch can, is or does, let me explain it to you in a nutshell. An oil separator can actually stop and help prevent oil sludge from robbing your engine of performance, as well as reduce blowby, which is essentially crankcase exhaust gases that escape into your intake manifold, robbing performance as well or if you're running a forced induction system, maybe even your supercharger. Now JLT has gracefully provided us with oil filters in the past which of course have gotten great reviews. However they've now upgraded to this new 3.0 version, which has a lot of upgraded features from the previous versions they've offered and also the other options on the market. This particular one comes with a three-ounce capacity, which is almost double what they've offered in the past. They've also upgraded their pre-filter, which before was using a Ford Motorcraft pre-filter. Now they've gone up to a half-inch thick one-sixth aluminum honeycomb filter with a stainless steel screen to help prevent even more oil vapors from gumming up your engine. Overall this thing offers a ton of pros and virtually no cons. Now to further elaborate on the materials and construction here, this one was manufactured right here in the USA and I've actually got one taken apart for you so you can see the stainless steel honeycomb backing here with the filter filtering down into the three-ounce capacity bottle. Now it all really just comes off with a simple screw of a top. Now with that said, this was all CNC machined out of a solid block of billet aluminum for superior strength, comes with a rubber O-ring for a leak-free seal, has a knurled, textured bottom here to actually give you grip while doing routine oil changes when you're taking this thing off here and obviously comes with your choice of either the durable black or the anodized finish to fit any preference.Now in my personal opinion, there is absolutely no reason why any of the aforementioned Mustang owners out there shouldn't pick this part up because it does nothing but good under your hood. You can expect to be picking it up for just about 140 bucks and again there are absolutely no cons, but a crap-load of pros. Now as far as the installation goes, guys, you won't even need any tools to get the job done. All you'll have to do is simply unplug the factory hose, replace it with the JLT 3.0 Oil Separator with its quick plug-in connectors here and you'll be good to go. Simply should take you just a minute or two to get the job done. I will absolutely be giving this one a one-out-of-three wrenches on our difficulty meter. Something easy enough for any novice to take care of. Well, just to wrap things up here, if you're the owner of an '11 to '17 GT, '12 to '13 Boss 302 or '15 to '17 GT350, you might wanna check out the JLT 3.0 Oil Separator in your choice of either black or anodized to help reduce engine sludge and prevent blowby, which of course they're both available right here at americanmuscle.com.

    Reduces Engine Sludge. Did you know that engine sludge is robbing your Mustang of power? Well it's true. Engine crankcase exhaust "blow-by" is an oily vapor that re-enters through your PCV system and over time will coat the inside of your intake and throttle body. This oily vapor will then congeal into a gummy mess better known as engine sludge. However, you can stop the formation of this sludge by installing a JLT Version 3.0 Air/Oil Separator. An Air/Oil Separator (better known as a catch can) captures these blow-by gases before they are able to re-enter the system preventing the formation of engine sludge in the first place. A JLT Separator is ideal for use on all Mustangs no matter the application.

    Version 3.0. JLT improved on the designed of their old Oil Separator with the introduction of their new and improved Version 3.0. The first big change you will notice is that the Version 3.0 Separator has a larger 3 oz capacity, that is almost double that of their previous model. Another important difference is the filter media. Older JLT Separators used a Ford Motorcraft pre-filter, but now JLT uses a 1/2" thick 1/16th" aluminum honeycomb filter with a mesh stainless steel screen to trap even more fine oil vapors than before to prevent them from gumming up your engine.

    Superior Quality. This JLT Performance Air/Oil Separator is proudly manufactured right here in the USA. JLT CNC-machines their Air/Oil Separator from a solid block of billet aluminum for superior strength. Designed with a rubber o-ring, this Separator will maintain a tight leak-free seal. The base features a knurled texture, so that it can easily be gripped for removal during routine oil changes. JLT then completes their Catch Can in a durable clear anodized satin finish for impressive good looks and long lasting corrosion resistance.

    Easy Installation. JLT Performance engineered their Separator to be installed in under 10 minutes with just basic hand tools. This kit comes complete and includes two PCV lines with stock-style quick-disconnect fittings that allow for an easy plug-and-play installation. All the necessary parts are included, with no cutting or extra modifications required.

    Application. This JLT Performance Version 3.0 Satin Passenger Side Air/Oil Separator is designed for use on 2011-2017 GT, 2012-2013 BOSS and 2015-2020 Shelby GT350/GT350R models. Installs on the passenger side, same side as the PCV valve.

    Technical Note. This JLT Air/Oil Separator is not CARB certified, therefore it is not legal for use in California or other states adopting California emission standards. It is intended for off-road use only.

        How often should this be cleaned out? Once a month, every oil change??

        • The JLT V3.0 Oil Separator should be checked at least every 1000 miles, however, every vehicle is a little different so you may need to check it more frequently or less frequently depending on the vehicles usage.

        Since this oil separator is unbolted, is there a lot of rattle coming from the engine bay during driving?

        • This should not cause any rattling even though the separator is unbolted.

            Easy install

            Quick and easy install, very happy with it and no tools needed takes 30 seconds. After just a few hundred miles there was a slight amount of oil in it.

            impressive how much oil this guy stops

            easiest install ever. checked the oil catch about 2 months after installed and there was roughly 4 oz of oil (very very runny oil as well) in the base of this unit. I was floored that it caught so much oil in such a short amount of time. I have a Steeda tune, CAI, H pipe and axlebacks as well.

            Easy insurance

            With what I've read about the importance of having this on the car, you would think Ford would include it in the standard equipment. Of course, they're in the business of selling cars and the longevity of the engine perhaps isn't one of their priorities. I figured for the price it was worth the peace of mind knowing I'm not blowing junk back into the engine.

            Super Easy Intall

            Super Easy Install; though I did need to remove the Strut Tower Brace. This seems like smart Insurance for any car driven aggressively - You won't know if you need it for 6 months to a year, but if its full/greasy then you know its serving you well. I wanted the Ford Motorsport option- but this one is so much easier to check/clean I had to go with it.

            Good product.

            Very nice solid quality product. Very easy install. Checked it after about 500 miles and it already caught a couple ounces of oil. Very pleased to see that it's working and keeping all that oil from recirculating back in to the engine. Great for a little peace of mind and it looks nice too.

            installation took less than 15 min. Fit form and function was perfect. in less than 1000 miles I had a 1/8 of an inch of sludge in it. Another Great item to protect your car's engine.

            Oil Separator Switch

            Purchased this JLT oil separator for my Shelby gt350 to replace the Ford Performance version. Very easy to install, looks much better, and ability to just screw off the canister to empty is a big plus.

            Works As Advertised

            Installed this on my 17 GT350 and it’s preventing the oil going into my intake. I daily drive my car but don’t beat it hard by any means, and collect about half a cylinder full every 30 days give or take a few days. If anything, it gives me a little peace of mind knowing she’s running clean and efficient inside the combustion camber.

            Does its job!!

            Got this about a month or so ago - easy to install (only a shift knob would be easier, and that is debatable) and waited about 1,000 miles before I checked it. Not sure what I was expecting, but sure enough it had close to 2 tablespoons worth of oil in it. Car had 22k miles on it when I installed this, and I cringe thinking about how much oil went into the motor during those miles - but I rest a little easier knowing this thing is on there and it WORKS.

            No brainer

            10 second install. Caught about 1 ounce of oil in the first 1,000 miles. The passenger side blow-by on these car is excessive and this a must have.
