Merideth: Hey, guys. Merideth with AmericanMuscle, and today we are checking out the K&N Series 63 AirCharger Cold Air Intake, fitting all 2010 through 2015 SS Camaros. Now, intakes are probably one of the first mods that most car owners look into because they're a super easy way to gain some better performance and efficiency out of a smaller mod, and this 63 AirCharger will do just that. Now, this is a fantastic option if you're looking for a premium intake to get some more out of your 6.2 liter with or without a tune and protected in the meantime with non-restrictive filtering that will be reusable, low maintenance, and ultimately hassle-free. Now, I do wanna mention that this is not going to be CARB-certified, so just keep that in mind when adding this to your car. This system, as I mentioned, will do a solid job of eliminating restrictions of airflow with a larger and more direct intake tube. Now, K&N does claim that this will offer a proven dyno-tested 18.62 horsepower increase and 18.95 pound feet of torque increase at roughly 5,200 RPM. Now, that isn't a huge number in the world of all the modifications, but for an intake that is very solid, making this great by itself, paired with other upgrades and, of course, with a tune where you could potentially get more out of this intake as far as power is concerned. Now, the filter and how it's built is also just great in itself with the benefit of having a sticky enough surface and thick media to filter all of those microcontaminants out of the air that's feeding into your intake, but it's gonna maintain a 90% to 95% efficiency along the way. Now, it's also cleanable and reusable, so you don't have to worry about mileage or swapping out your filter. You could literally drive 100,000 miles according to K&N until you need to clean it.Now, getting into the construction, starting off with the intake tube, this is gonna be made of a roto-molded high-density cross-length polyethylene material, which in a nutshell is going to mean that it is going to be a strong, dense plastic material and it's gonna resist any heat buildup. Now, this kit will also come with a high-quality oil filter built from four layers of woven cotton media and it's gonna have a large conical design that's just gonna inhibit much more airflow into the system. The heat shield will also consist of a powder-coated thin steel material, which is going to sit in the engine bay very well and be rigid enough to stay in place. Now, this eventually with the end result will be aligned with a rubber gasket seal to prevent any of that heat from the hot engine bay getting to the filter, keeping the air cooler and, of course, more dense. And this also comes with all the cufflers and clamps as well as the hardware and hoses that you need in order to get the job done. Now, this will come in at about $400, being a premium choice in the category for an intake. Now, compared to other choices, this will have a tough heat-resistant construction, a thick and efficient as well as reusable filter, and simply will look good inside the engine bay while also giving you a bump in performance. Now, it's also made in the USA, which is a big bonus there for you Chevy owners who prefer an American-made product. Now, I think if you're looking for a high-quality heat shield cold air intake option for your LS, then this Series 63 AirCharger is a great choice to consider.Install will be a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, taking you about an hour or so to get the job done. Now, speaking of the install, one of our customers here has installed this on their Camaro and is gonna walk you through the process of getting all of these components together and onto your Camaro at home. So that is going to wrap it up for me. Let's go ahead and get into that install.Anthony: So what I used is a ratchet with a 10-millimeter socket. I had a 7-millimetersocket, 8-millimetersocket, and a 9. Looks like I used 7, 8, 9, and 10-millimeter sockets with this ratchet. I also had a 14-millimeter ratchet which I used for plastic piece that goes with the hose, 10-millimeter wrench, a flathead screwdriver, and my drill, but I only used it because I don't have the Allen key that you need. So if you guys have the Allen key, you might not need it, but at the same time, I like using my drill. And that's it.My name is Anthony Ramirez and I just received my K&N Series 63 Cold Air Intake from AmericanMuscle. Let's check it out. To start, turn off the ignition, and disconnect the negative battery cable. Just a tip, don't close your trunk during this installation. Remove the oil filler cap, and then lift up and remove the engine cover. Reinstall the oil filler cap. Disconnect the crankcase vent tube from the intake resonator as shown.Being careful when removing your mass airflow sensor, slide this clip down and apply pressure right there in order for it to just slide out. Loosen the hose clamps which secure the stock intake tube to the airbox and throttle body. Remove the stock intake tube as shown. Rotate the crankcase vent tube 180 degrees. Release the retainer at the valve cover port, and remove the crankcase vent tube from the valve cover port.Just so you know, this is the retainer. Remove the two airbox retaining nuts.Lift up and remove the airbox. Remove the airbox mounting grommet from the frame rail. Install the heat shield mounting bracket onto the heat shield as shown using the provided hardware.Install the filter adapter onto the heat shield and secure it with the hardware provided. So we're gonna take the screw, and we're gonna take one of these little rings that are kind of broken. That's gonna go first, and then the washer. And then the same thing for the second one. The little ring that look like it's cracked, it's split, first. Or if you wanna think about it like the smaller one and then the wash. And then we just align these screws to these holes like that and let's screw there. And you can pretty much hand-tighten it, but I like to just make sure it's on there. So not too much, just a little bit, and that's it.Install the edge trim onto the heat shield as shown. This corner is a little pain in the butt. So you just gotta make sure you kind of pinch it and just work it just like that. There we go. Just all the way around. Make sure it's nice and flush just like that. Go around and remove this bracket. Same thing with this guy. It's gonna be a little pain. Just gotta work it, pinch it, you know, do what you gotta do to get it in there. Looks like we're gonna have to cut it. So yours might fit perfectly. It might be a little short. Mine looks like I'm gonna have to cut it right here. In case you have to cut it, I'm just gonna use regular scissors, you know, that I have here. I'm gonna go ahead and line it up as close as possible to this. Right? All right. So you're going to take this screw. All right? And this grommet nut thing and you're going to attach it right here. And you're not gonna tighten it all the way, just hand-tighten.Install the heat shield assembly into the vehicle so the inserted nut goes into the airbox mounting grommet hole and the tab goes into the airbox mounting stud. Yep, yeah, just like that. Just like that. Secure the heat shield with the provided hardware. But this nut doesn't fit this one. It's too small. So I'm just gonna reuse the nut that I removed earlier.Install the silicone hose 08761 onto the throttle body and secure with the provided hose clamp. Use a flathead screwdriver. Install the silicone hose 08418 onto the filter adapter and secure with the provided hose clamp. I like to put the hose clamp on the sleeve first because that little bump makes it a little pain to get over that. So if I just put it on first, it makes it easier just to slide it on there. Make sure it's flush and tighten it up. Flathead screwdriver.Remove the two screws. I'm gonna use a 7-millimeter socket to get that one and to get this one here to remove the mass airflow sensor from the stock intake.Install the provided gasket onto the mass airflow sensor adapter as shown. So these little dimples or the things that are sticking out, you're gonna make sure that's pointing up and you go ahead and attach this guy just like that. So you go ahead and remove this white piece. And then it should just be aligned to this little section here just like that.Install the mass airflow sensor into the adapter. So what I do is I make sure that these are aligned, okay? And you gotta make sure that this holds on that way. I don't think it'll let you put it on the other way, but I'll go like that, make sure it's on that side, and secure the hardware provided. And you can pretty much just hand-tighten these, it looks like. Install the mass airflow sensor into the K&N intake tube and make sure that the opening is facing towards the filter end and secure it with the provided hardware. So I'm taking the washer, putting it onto the screw. So I'm looking at the edge here and making sure that it gets pretty flush there. So it's touching right there, and then you're gonna see on this side that part right there should be touching as well. If it's not touching, you can go ahead and bring it down a little bit more. There you go.Install the provided one-fourth NPT fitting into the K&N intake tube as shown. Note, plastic NPT fittings are easy to cross-thread. Install the vent fitting hand-tight, then turn it two complete turns with a wrench. That's one. Two. It should be good.Install the K&N intake tube assembly into the silicone hose at the filter adapter and then into the silicone hose at the throttle body and secure with the provided hose clamps. But I like to put the hose clamps or the silicone hose first. And then secure it with the provided hose clamp. So here, I'm using an 8-millimeter socket. A little bit easier than the flathead but, you know, they're about the same. Get the job done. I'm not sure if that's all the way in. Check this one. All right, that's it. So make sure they're nice and tight. That's it. Cool. Attach the provided crankcase vent hose to the vent port on the valve cover, and the other end to the one-fourth NPT fitting right there.Insert the K&N air filter into the air filter adapter and secure. This time, I'm using the flathead because my socket and my wrench doesn't fit here because of this little area. So, this will do. And this doesn't need to be like crazy tight. Just make it nice and hand-tight so it doesn't go anywhere. And that's it. Reconnect the mass airflow sensor. I'm sliding it in, making sure this clip is pushed forward. Remove the oil filler cap. Put back on the engine cover. Don't forget to put your oil filler cap back on. Reconnect the negative cable back onto the battery.Merideth: So that's gonna wrap it up for my review and the install of the K&N Series 63 AirCharger Cold Air Intake, fitting all 2010 through 2015 SS Camaros. And remember, for all things Camaro, keep it right here at americanmuscle.com.

      Description

Supercharge Your Car’s Performance. Improve your Camaro’s performance by installing the K&N Series 63 AirCharger Cold Intake system. This cold air intake system is specifically designed to reduce the temperature of the air flowing into your car’s engine, as well as increase that air flow as much as possible. This results in an immediate boost in your Camaro’s horsepower and torque. You’ll easily feel the difference whenever you step on the gas.

No Retuning Required. The K&N Series 63 AirCharger Cold Air Intake is designed to improve the performance of your Camaro without the need for costly aftermarket retuning or recalibrations. Thanks to its top-notch design and fitting, you can immediately enjoy the added power as soon as you install it. However, it is recommended that you get your car re-tuned to truly maximize the benefit of your new air intake system.

Cotton Gauze Clamp-On Air Filter. The included K&N Cotton Gauze Clamp-On Air Filter is engineered to filter out solid air particulates that could choke or damage your engine while keeping air flow efficient. What’s more, it’s easily bigger than any stock Camaro air filter out in the market today. All these qualities ensure that your vehicle has access to the maximum amount of fresh, low-temperature air at all times, resulting in better all-around performance.

Unique and Exclusive Heat Shield. Instead of having a restrictive air box to house the filter, the K&N Series 63 AirCharger Cold Air Intake system features a large heat shield. This allows for the biggest size air filter to be used while ensuring the maximum amount of air flow. The open and unrestricted design of the heat shield also lets you check on the air filter’s condition without having to disassemble anything.

Easy Bolt-On Installation. This K&N Series Cold Air Intake system is carefully made to offer a completely stress-free installation process. This is thanks to its considerate design that reuses your vehicle’s factory mounting points, making the entire setup a breeze to do. What’s more, the entire process requires only basic hand tools—no cutting, drilling, or welding needed.

Covered by a Manufacturer’s Warranty. K&N offers a Million-Mile, or 10-year warranty against defects in material and workmanship on all its intake system offerings. Limitations do apply, so check out the manufacturer’s official website for more information.
