    Review & Install Video

Hey guys, Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com here with a quick review of the LTH over axle pipes for 2011 to 2014 S197 GTs and GT500s. These over axle pipes from LTH are going to be a good option for anyone looking to upgrade exhaust components in stages. An entirely new exhaust system can get expensive fast, especially if you want a nice setup. And LTH gives you a way to upgrade in stages with these over axle pipes being a separate upgrade so you don't have to purchase an entire catback. The stock over axle pipes have resonators in them and they're also kinked, which doesn't help with exhaust flow. Not only are they restrictive because they have resonators but they're restrictive for flow reasons, too. So eliminating those kinks and the resonators is going to open up some sound and performance from the S197. These pipes will work with both an aftermarket axle back or a midpipe and the stock axle back or a midpipe. They're the same diameter as the factory pipes are, they're just smoother. So they're two and three-quarter inch which makes them more compatible with different axle back options. Paired with the factory axle back, I would rate them as a one and a half or two on the loudness meter, and with an aftermarket axle back a three out of five. The sound gains are obviously going to change depending on what the axle back and the midpipe setup is on your car. So keep in mind that if you decide to change your midpipe or headers or axle back down the road that the sound these produce is going to change. These are a full 304 stainless steel pipe so they're going to be perfect for all cars, even the dailies that see harsh elements and road salt. The 304 stainless will protect from corrosion here. Another thing that's going to help protect these from corrosion is the Titan Satin Finish that LTH has added here. LTH puts the product through a process that gives it a bright uniform satin finish so you're not going to see any discoloration from welds or heat, and no scratches on the product, either. But the finish is about more than just creating a nice looking exhaust. It strengthens the stainless steel as well. You guys can see right here these are a little bit dirty but that's because we did install them to get the sound clip for you guys. These are two and three-quarter inch pipes which I mentioned earlier, so the same as the factory over axle pipes. But the difference is going to be the elimination of the resonator which would be right here in the straight portion of the pipe. And the other difference is going to be at the other end. The factory pipe has to flatten out here to fit on the car and the factory pipe makes a funky S-type of curve. These pipes eliminate that as well and they just have a smooth mandrel bend instead. When it comes to price, you're looking at spending about $400 for these pipes. Like I mentioned earlier, the whole point of this product is to upgrade your exhaust in sections so you don't have to shell out a ton of money for an upgraded system all at once. Some of the top of the line catbacks are $1000 or very close to that price point. If you pair these pipes with an aftermarket axle back then you've made yourself a full catback and you didn't have to shell out that much money all at once. As far as the install, it's not going to be a difficult one at all. You can plan on spending about an hour or two to get it all done and you can expect a one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. Your stock over axle pipes will come out easily enough. It's just a few bolts to loosen the clamps at the midpipe and the mufflers to get those out. And snaking the pipes out is easy enough. These pipes then install the exact same way and they are side specific, so just be careful there. All right, wrapping this up, these over axle pipes from LTH offer a way to upgrade your exhaust system in stages. They're 304 stainless steel two and three-quarter inch pipes that will work with both stock and aftermarket midpipe and axle backs. If you pair these with an aftermarket axle back then you've effectively created your own catback and you've probably saved money while doing so. As always, you can check these out more online right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Power And Sound. LTH Over Axle Pipes from CP-E are designed to improve the flow of your GT or GT500 Mustangs exhaust (when compared to the restrictive factory pipes), which in return will increase rear wheel horsepower and torque, as well as give your Pony a more aggressive exhaust note.

Modular Design. LTH engineered their 2011-2014 Mustang exhausts using a unique "modular" design that allows you to upgrade one section of your exhaust at a time - including the headers, Mid Pipe, over axle pipes or axle-back. LTH Over The Axle Pipes are the same length as the factory pipes so they can be installed with the stock axle-back exhaust or with LTH's Axle-back systems, making them a true modular replacement.

Stainless Steel Construction. Manufactured in the USA from mandrel bent 2.75" diameter 304 stainless steel tubing for it's durability and corrosion resistance, this LTH Over Axle Pipe features a modular design, allowing it to be used with both factory OEM or LTH exhaust components.

LTH Titan™ Uniform Satin Finish. Titan™ is LTH's unique proprietary process that produces a bright uniform satin finish over the entire part to eliminate the ugly discoloration from welds, heat, and scratches that are encountered during manufacturing, making it the perfect exhaust finish for high end show cars. Not only does the process create a show quality finish, but it also strengthens the stainless steel to eliminate microscopic sharp edges created during welding that could, if not removed, become tears and cause the product to fail.

Direct Bolt-On Installation. Engineered to be a direct fit modular replacement, this set of two LTH over axle pipes will easily bolt in between the OEM or LTH Mid Pipe and the OEM or LTH Axle-Back Exhaust system without any modifications or special tools required for an easy installation.

Application. These LTH Over Axle Pipes are specifically designed to fit the 2011 to 2014 GT and Shelby GT500 Mustangs. These pipes are used to connect your factory or LTH Mid Pipe to an OEM or LTH Axle-Back Exhaust system.

    5 Top Rated Questions

Will this fit with flowmaster outlaw axlebacks with the stock “H” midpipe? If so, what can I expect in regards of sound gains?

    • This over axle pipe kit is designed to be a direct bolt on for otherwise stock Mustangs. With that being said, Flowmaster designs their axlebacks as a direct bolt on with otherwise stock Mustangs as well, so considering they will fit their stock counterparts, it's safe to say they will work together. As for sound gains, the addition of this kit will likely add no noticeable difference in terms of volume, it's going to be more of a tonal change, making it a bit deeper overall.

      Pretty good

This is a pretty good product, the fact that the pipes are a 2 piece design helped me line everything up correctly and solved my clearance issues with my exhaust hitting the body over bumps. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I don’t love the sound as much as I’d hoped. It is quite a bit raspier with these compared to the stock over axle pipes with the resonators. However I am straight piped so it may sound better with nice mufflers.

      LTH OAPs

In my opinion there is no other way to go than with these pipes. Your axle back options are limitless, if you already have aftermarket axle backs you can connect them to these pipes- as long as they were connected to the factory oap they will connect to these. I kept the SLP Loudmouths that I had on my car. Took me about 2 1/2 hrs to install, on a lift probably would have been an hour. Great product!

Perfect if pairing with axle backs!

I didn't have a lift so I decided to let my local muffler shop tackle the install. Glad I didn't try to do it in my drive way. The hardest part was taking off the god awful stock over axles. Sound is increased and my car is now awakened!

Bone-Shaking, Head Turning, HP Gain Tubes

I grabbed these pipes to complete the full LTH Header Back assembly. The HP gains were instantly noticeable, especially at higher RPM when your pony will truly giddy up and go. The sound is exactly what any track monster should want, loud with a hint or rasp. If you are in search of the classic DEEP muscle growl, pass on these pipes, but if that's not your priority, go ahead, toss them in your cart and get ready to wake the dead.

      LTH Over Axle Pipes

I bought these pipes a little over a year ago and I still love them. The install, minus the fitment issues I had, took roughly an hour. It's straight forward, if you have a jack stand and simple hand tools this is well within your means. The sound and volume -- when you're at WOT these pipes scream at a respectable decibel, they're not like having long tube headers with no cats but for stock cats and headers they're a dream. There is no drone at any speeds but I have these paired with a Roush Axle Back which doesn't drone anyways. At cold start they sound mean but when your revs settle the pipes are silent. Truthfully, these pipes aren't loud unless you want them to be, and then they're very loud. Fitment -- one of the clamps was messed up and one of the ends of the pipe was bent. That being said, I did some simple modifications and they worked just fine. The fit and finish was pretty terrible, but the product is well made and produced the sound I expected. Get them.

      Great looking and perfect fit

Very easy to install after getting old pipes out . You will need to have a hoist or cut old exhaust out . Fit and finish are perfect and sounds a little louder than it did with resonators plus it looks much better . I only have gt500 axle backs and the LTH pipes and is exactly the sound I wanted. Loud when you're on the gas quiet with a light pedal . Highly recommended!!!

      These really sound great!

These LTH pipes sound great coupled with the Flowmaster American Thunder axle backs. Many of the new 5.0 sound raspy and too high pitched for my taste and I was a little worried about how mine would sound but I'm am very pleased with the results...Doesn't sound like a foxbody but I'm hoping a new H pipe will do the trick.

      From Awesome to AwesomER

Recently purchased the LTH Over Axel Pipes for my 13 Mustang GT. To be clear, the car already had great sound and solid performance gains from my BBK Ceramic Long Tube Headers, BBK Cat-delete X-pipe, Borla ATAK mufflers, BBK 90mm throttle body, BBK chrome Cold Air kit, and a Bama Performance 93 Octane Race Tune. However, still had the stock over axel pipes. Before installing the LTH pipes, I checked with American Muscle and Bama Performance experts and noted there was no need to get a newer tune due to the new pipes. Bama told me they experienced an 8 HP gain and increased throttle response when resonator delete over axel pipes were installed. Boys I'm here to tell you the LTH pipes are terrific!!! Can definitely feel the difference on acceleration and the sound - OH MAN THAT SOUND, is awesomER!!! I am a big NASCAR fan, and my Mustang sounds pretty close to that Penske Mustang!! Highly recommend these pipes to anyone hoping to go to the next level. Best way to install them is with a lift.

Piece of the puzzle thst fit perfectly.

Removing the resonated stock over axles DID prove to free up the exhaust a little bit more. Vehicle has to be raised higher than normal to remove stock pipes with out cutting them. When WARRANTY EXPIRES, then on goes a 90mm THROTTLE BODY (FRPP of course). and long tube headers, But as we are now : AED intake kit, stock CAI, X-pipe, (No side pipes), LTH over axles, baffled muffler deletes. Our " 2012 BLACK/RED BOSS LS *WARHORSE* " is a wicked fast, bad - a** Mustang thanks to A.M. (so far, I've done all the mods myself). LSECO OUT !
