Simple installation for anyone.
I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m going to be breaking down Magnaflow’s Street Series Catback exhaust for the 2011 and up Mustang V6. The Street Series is a very popular choice with many Mustang owners, thanks to its quality build, aggressive yet refined tone, and baffled muffler design, which makes for some impressive gains over your factory Catback exhaust. Now this kit from Magnaflow utilizes 2.5” stainless steel mandrel bent tubing all the way through those baffled mufflers, and out dual 4” polished tips. Now since this kit does bolt directly up to your factory H-pipe, it should make for a relatively painless install, should take you about two hours. Now let’s hear how Magnaflow’s Street Series Catback sounds compared to your factory exhaust.

Well worth the price. The system sounds great. Nice tone but no drone on the highway which is very important as this is a convertible.Helpful (3)

Excellent subtle upgrade
This is a great upgrade if you want to improve the exhaust note, but you dont want a loud raspy sound. Adds some depth to the V6 note.Helpful (6)

Absolutely Awesome Pipes!
Had the roush axle backs, these pipes have that deep V8 sound even without the other 2 cylinders. Absolutely love this catback. Would highly recommend and have!Helpful (5)

Good sound except for the 6th gear expressway drone. I wanted a good sounding cat back without an obnoxiously loud sound to maintain the stealth profile. This fits the bill.Helpful (5)

Great fit and finish, but too much drone for me.
I have to agree with other reviewers who complain about the drone. From inside the cabin (which is the only way I am ever going to listen to it), it is especially obnoxious in fifth and six gears at lower RPM's on the freeway with a slight uphill load. Start up and idle isn't bad... a little louder than stock. Acceleration sounds OK, but I'm not in love with it. However fit and finish is excellent, and I really wanted to like these. AmericanMuscle has been fine to deal with, but I think I am going to have to sell these Magnaflows and look at Borla Touring cat-backs, Ford racing axle backs, or just going back to stock.Helpful (7)

This is what I was looking for really turns heads when we come around the corner but not so much that is sounds cheap.. We sit at idle and you can hear it growl.Helpful (6)

Overall, this exhaust is great. It deepens the sound and gives it the sound of a V8. I've had countless people ask me if it was a GT and were always surprised to find out it was a V6. The fit though was a little bit of an issue. the driver side lined up perfect, zero problems. The passenger side however was a different story. the tail pipe was pressing upwards on the rear bumper and after hours of messing with it, I finally just took it to a shop and had them pry it down away from the bumper so it would stop vibrating against it. (if i had known they were just going to pry it down I would have done it myself...) I've had this on my car for over a year, and I can say that it just gets louder and deeper for about 10k miles. but not too loud though, I didn't notice any drone on the highway and it wasn't loud enough to wake the neighbors.Helpful (7)

if it's too loud you're too old..
just want to say that iam very please with the agressive sound of my new magnaflow street cat back exh.sys, love it! highly recommend it for your new mustang. if I had the tools n stuff I'd have done it my self. very simple n easy process, no sweat. about the noise it is not that loud at all just perfect, future mods. BBK headers (shorty's), and a Bama tuner..thanks am will be purchasing more products soon.Helpful (6)

This was a very disappointing purchase. At idle, it is extremely quiet. At low load, low rpm, it sounds like a somewhat deep, subdued buzzing/humming noise. At WOT, from inside the car, I can't tell if the Airaid intake is making more noise or the exhaust. I expected it to be quiet compared to other aftermarket cat-backs that are available, but this is ridiculously quiet and the low RPM buzzing is something I expect from a four cylinder import vehicle. I can only hope it sounds better when I am able to install long-tubes, otherwise I will just have to take the loss and replace it with something worth my money.Helpful (9)

I kept looking around every where for the perfect exhaust. I finally chose this exhaust. This exhaust was exactly what I was looking for. Its not obnoxiously loud but its not quiet. It has a very deep sound, perfect for the v6 mustang. It looks great and it was easy to install. The only down side to it really was its really hard to get the stock pipes out with out a lift gate. I had to raise the rear end about 4 ft high just to get out and put in the new one. Otherwise there is nothing wrong with it and you will not regret getting it.Helpful (7)
Fitment with BBK products I have purchased the BBK Ceramic long tube headers and the matching off-road x pipe to go with it. Will this catback exhaust connect to that? Or am I missing some information/parts?
The Magnaflow Street Cat-Back Exhaust utilizes a 2.5" tubing and the BBK Off-Road X-pipe, uses 2.75" diameter piping, and they will require some modification for a proper installation.
How much hp will I be gaining by buying this?
The Magnaflow Street Cat-Back Exhaust should yield 5-10hp throughout the curve with a proper tune. Any additional modifications should help increase the yield as well.
Is this CARB legal？Unfortunately I have to deal with smog test here in CA
Hello! Unfortunately this exhaust system is not CARB legal.
What is the biggest diference between this exhaust, and the competition cat-backs? And would the competition cat-backs be street legal in Canada?
The biggest difference can be noticed right away in the pictures of both of the kits. The street cat-back is going to use the bigger Magnaflow street mufflers for a more deeper tone with not as much volume in the higher RPM ranges. But the competition series is going to use Magnaflow's smaller competition style mufflers for maximum air flow and a nice higher pitched tone through out the entire RPM range.
Will this fit with the stock length bbk catted x-pipe (part #56232)?
The Magnaflow Street Cat-Back Exhaust - 4 in. Tips (13-14 V6) will be able to fit with the BBK Catted X-Pipe (11-14 V6) since both are 2.5".
We have not tested the Magnaflow Street Cat-Back Exhaust on the dyno, however, we would expect a general area of 5-10hp increase over a stock vehicle with a Bama Tune. With additional modification, higher yields would be expected.
