Improve Performance. Wake up your V6-powered pony for faster acceleration off the line with a set of 4.10 Motive Performance Plus gears. A steeper set of gears will get you into your power band faster for faster launches and more punch off the line.

Superior Construction. These Motive ring and pinon gears are CNC cut from high grade 8620 gear steel, and factory lapped for precision fit. Each set is hardness tested prior to leaving the factory to ensure the highest quality.

Recommended Upgrade. Changing the rear axle gear ratio will throw off the calibration of your Mustangs speedometer, but a Ford Racing Speedometer Recalibration Tool is an inexpensive way to fix this issue.

Application. This Motive Performance Plus Ring and Pinion Gear set will fit all 1994 to 1998 V6 Ford Mustangs equipped with a 7.5" rear end. A master bearing kit is recommended by most installers, especially on high mileage vehicles, see drop down option above.

Technical Note. Installation costs will vary, but a good rule of thumb is between $250 and $300. Be sure to work with a reliable shop that you trust for installations.

So I have a 94 V6 and I was planning on getting the 4.10 gears for it. Obviously it will make it more tourqey at low end. My question is should I also invest in an LSD to keep from "one wheel peeling off the line or do you think I'll be ok? (For now).


  • It would be advised to get an upgraded diff of some sort, to much of the power going to one tire rather than the other can put excess wear on rear end components such as bearings and clutches.

Tuner? This is basically one of the last mods i can put in my 94 v6 auto stang. Being its an automatic do i need to get another tune to go along with these 4.10 gears?


  • Whether manual or automatic, getting a new tune is highly recommended so you can correct the calibration of your speedometer.

    Absolutely terrible

    took these to a shop to get professionally installed and they said the pinion thread was not right so they cannot tighten it. Probably going to have to return them and buy Ford Racing gears. Car is ripped apart right now and wont be able to drive it until I get something to put in. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!

    its a mess but worth it to install

    Well i bought these and when i went to install them i noticed some problems. the number one problem was that the cross shaft pin absolutely has to be grinded down if you do not buy the posi trac diffriental. the ring gear is alot thicker than that of the stock 323 gears. another thing is that the recommended parts does not say anything about this. TRUST ME IT IS A MESS TO INSTALL BY YOUR SELF BUT WELL WORTH THE POWER DIFFERENCE. IT IS NICE TO SHIFT INTO FOURTH GEAR AND HEAR A BARK WITH BRAND NEW TIRES LOL AND BY THE WAY EVERY ONE THAT COMPLAINS ABOUT THE WHINING NEEDS TO CHECK THEIR BACK LASH ON THEIR CRUSH SLEEVE BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT CAUSES IT TO WHINE

    awesome gears

    These gears are awesome! They dont whine, but if your gears whine, just take them back to the shop. Thats what I did and the only thing wrong was that the crush sleeve needed to be crushed a little bit more. Thanks American Muscle!

    Whoa! Was not expecting that!

    I wish I did this upgrade years ago. I tried underdrive pulleys, upgraded coil pack, the chip, platinum plugs, and CAI. All gave some performance increase, but nothing like these gears. My stang now sounds more aggressive and is more aggressive. I set my chip to the racing mode and find the straightest road I can find to let loose. I joked with my wife I may not be going any faster, but is sure feels and sounds like it. Make sure to get the speedometer gear for it. Simple 10 minute install and it will save your transmission. Had mine installed for about $300. Well worth it for a good job.

    Amazing gears

    These gears are awesome it wakes up your v-6 stang and feels like a totally different car. i would recommend these gears to anyone with a stang. You get so much more pull outa the first gears now!

    Awesome Deal!

    4.10 Gears (V6)

    Got these installed and at first I was taking it easy on the car and began to wonder why I'd bothered getting the gears. Then I stepped on it and that was the moment I fell in love. The car pulls much better combined with the 7.5" Tlok.

    4.10's & Royal Purple

    Bought these and put them in along with a couple of other mods and put royal purple gear lube in to make sure they would set better and the result?? Roasting both tires like a Gt and getting around a whole lot faster! The only downfall is that if they arent set to the exact point then the driveshaft gets out of balance and you have to buy a coastline 4" 1 piece aluminum cause it will vibrate you to death if you dont!

    These really wake your pony up big time. Be sure you have a tuner or your speedometer will be off by about 15mph. Also be sure to be very gentle with your throttle for the first 500 miles or you'll break your gears.

    I had to get my gears from somewhere else because I couldn't wait for restocking but AM still has the best price with free shipping. I had to do a small grind on the cross shaft pin after setup was complete to finish up the install. motive's site states that a special cross shaft pin is needed with these gears. a grind hooked it up though. overall, great! the accelleration is awesome and there is no whining or grinding.

    Manual Tranny w/ 4.10\'s

    Now I\'ve heard that 4.10\'s with a manual transmission are a bad mix. The gears, they say, would be too short. The Facts: 1st - Pretty short, but not too short. PULLS! 2nd - Pulls like 1st did with stock gears 3rd - Surprising improvement 4th - Great for slaughtering traffic 5th - 2600rpm @ 70mph. Revs are a little high at freeway speeds, but in town, 5th is actually usable. If I did it all over again, I\'d might get 3.73\'s just because of the freeway revs, but I do NOT regret this mod. If all you\'re looking for is acceleration, 4.10\'s are the way to go.
