      Video Review & Installation

Justin: The Side and Quarter Smoke Lights that we have here today will help 2010 through 2014 owners out there, customized and otherwise forgotten about area with something that will certainly be a bit more unique than maybe say your standard run-of-the-mill vinyl. Now, these marker lights will combine a durable smoked polycarbonate lens along with that ABS plastic housing. And maybe most importantly here, guys, those high-powered LED strips that will illuminate whenever the lights or markers are turned on. Now, price point for all four marker lights here will be right around 100 bucks and the install is gonna be a complete breeze, as we'll show you a little later in the video, but figure a soft one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter and maybe 20 minutes of your time to complete from start to finish. So, first things first, guys, I do wanna point out that if you're just simply looking to smoke the marker lights on your S197, you can certainly save a bunch of money and just go with a traditional vinyl tint kit instead. But you have to keep in mind that you are still gonna be left with a dull factory incandescent bulb that is gonna look even more weak inside behind the dark smoke vinyl tents. So, just something to keep in mind there. Now, on the other hand, if you dig that smoke look and combine that with a unique pattern of LED lighting, then hang out with me for a bit, let's break these things down. Now, for starters, again, these marker lights are going to deliver that sinister smoke look which always seems to be a popular choice with Mustang owners, no matter what gen we're really talking about. But behind those dark smoked lenses, you're gonna find an extremely bright strip of LEDs that will illuminate in the strip or pattern, basically spanning the width of the marker itself, eliminating that one lone hotspot you get with the factory marker lights and that weak factory bulb. Now, that pattern is made possible thanks again to the high-quality amber LEDs for the front, along with the high-quality red LEDs for those rear markers that again are baked into the ABS plastic housing and protected by that polycarbonate lens that we talked about earlier. Now, those LEDs, by the way, again, far brighter than the factory incandescent bulb that you will be replacing. And last but not least, guys, one thing I always like to point out, these things are backed by a one-year limited warranty just in case you happen to encounter any issues. Now, another thing people really dig about these particular marker lights is just how easy they are to install. So much so the site's gonna call this a 15 to 20-minute job along with that soft one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. And to show you just how easy this job is, check out our detailed walkthrough and tool breakdown right now.Man: Tools for this install a 7-millimeter shallow socket, 10-millimeter deep socket, a ratchet, electric ratchet, and a trim removal tool. Now, first step to take in our side marker lights out you're gonna wanna remove the splash guard from underneath the chin splitter. We're gonna grab our 7-millimeter socket and get that removed. Now, normally, you would have a series of bolts along the chin splitter. However, our pony is a little bit weathered so we are missing a few bolts, we'll just get these removed. Now, with all bolts removed, you can now take off your splash guard. Now, with your splash guard removed, we can now remove our light bulb from our side marker. We are going to grab our 10-millimeter socket and get these nuts removed from the back of the marker. Now, with the nuts removed, you can now get your marker out. Now, before we get our new side marker light placed, we are going to take the connector for our light bulb because we will be reusing that. Grabbing the connector, we are going to put that on our side marker light, making sure that black and red are lined up with our power and ground on our Mustang.Place your side marker into your bumper and get your harness connected. Take these stock nuts and get them threaded on the plastic studs on the back of your marker light. Now, because the studs are plastic, they should thread relatively easy. Now, don't tighten them too far, remember they are only plastic. Once that's installed, go ahead and repeat those steps on our passenger side. Now, with both your marker lights in place and installed, we will go ahead and get our splash guard reinstalled under our splitter. Now we can move on to the rear marker light. Now, with the rear marker light, it's gonna be a little bit harder to get to, we are gonna undo these pop clips at the back end holding the bracket that is actually in the way of the side marker light. So, you are gonna have to reach your hand in there to get the harness unplugged as well as the side marker unclipped from the fender. With your pop clips removed, find a way to get your hand in there. This is a little bit hard to see, I apologize about that. Get your harness unplugged for the side marker there. Go ahead and pinch the clamp holding the light into the fender and pull that off. With the light removed, I wanted to give you guys a sneak peek of what the harness looks like and where the side marker was placed. Again, just like the front marker, we are gonna go ahead and take the plug for the light bulb and reuse that for the new light. Taking your plug, we are going to get that connected in the new light. Feed your wires through the fender, get your new side marker clipped in, and replug the harness. Get your harness replugged in for that side marker. Again, this is a little bit hard to see. And once you have that reconnected, take your pop clips and place them back into the bracket. And we will go ahead and repeat this on our passenger side. Now, that's gonna wrap it up for our review and install of the Side and Quarter Marker Lights in Smoked fitting your '10 to '14 Mustang.
