    Ask a Question

What does it mean by it comes with a fuel management unit? does it come with a chip with a tune that will run this kit on a stock motor safely until it is custom tuned on a dyno?

    GarrettL

    • The Fuel management unit or FMU that is included with the Vortech Street Boost Supercharger System is just a module that handles the fuel flow, it does not effect the tune. This kit does not come with a tune and would need to be dyno tuned once everything is installed.

Is this just a bolt on kit?

    ShaneW

    • This Vortech Street Boost Supercharger System is a bolt-on kit however, you will need an intercooler to finish up the installation.

What hp gain should I expect on an engine with a cam and new competition heads bigger throttle body and 24lb injectors running 297rwhp 368tq?

    JacobA

    • Depending on fuel spark and tuning and average of 375hp-425tq are rounded numbers.

Is the 5 to 7 psi the same charger as the 8 to 10 psi vortech one with a different pulley on it? I have heads, cam, intake, bigger throttle body, bamma chip, 24lb. injectors, bigger fuel pump and a few other upgrades. Will this kit work for me or do I need something with more boost? I'm not looking for a race car just something a little more fun.

    • The difference in PSI definitely involves a different pulley, as well as some other differences in the kit to make up for the added boost. Also, the Vortech Street Boost Supercharger System - Satin (86-93 5.0L), and its 8-10 PSI successor, are both complete kits. This means that everything except for your heads, cams, and cold air intake will be replaced. If you plan on changing anything in the supercharger kit or just want to make sure what isn't being replaced is compatible with the Vortech, I would suggest contacting Vortech directly as the manufacturer of the supercharger is the best resource for fitment and functionality questions, and I would suggest verifying the compatibility of your cams and heads relative to Vortech's applications and tunes.

do you have to remove the intake to install this? i have a 1990 mustang gt and i am planing on putting on a new intake. i just wanted to know if i should spend the money on a new intake or just wait until i have the supercharger. Is it worth buying a new intake or will i have to remove it when i install the supercharger?

    jatnieln

    • absolutely not- kits bolts on with stock intake. one of the wonders of boost is it helps force air into the motor so it overcomes the deficiencies of stock intakes - if you do want to change the intake later on , none of the blower parts need to come off

Make sure all your parts are in the box before you start!

Although missing parts and a seemingly long wait to receive...i am satisfied with my purchase. Made a big difference power wise. The thing I am most dissapointed in is that it was missing parts. You would think for almost $2k they would at least send you everything you paid for. There are also modifications you need to make to your engine that are not mentioned in the instructions, which in my opinion need to be updated.

      Great Product!!

Very Happy with product you'll actually end up with more hp/tq than advertised. Is set up for a stock motor i would ditch the fmu and get a tune tho. unfortunately i blew a head gasket shortly after so im working on that now!
