The stock 1996-1998 SVT Cobra Mustang came with a healthy 305 Horsepower and 285 lb/ft of Torque from the factory, but after installing a Vortech System you will be planting a ground pounding 442 Horsepower and 390 lb/ft of Torque to the pavement. That is 137 more horsepower over stock!

      Complete Kit. This Vortech Mustang Supercharger System comes with all the required parts needed to upgrade your pony to a snarling beast. The kit features fuel management upgrades including a high-flow fuel pump and a fuel management unit (FMU). Also included is a voucher and shipping label to mail your stock ECM directly to Vortech so they can install the appropriate program.

        Seven Year

        I installed this guy seven yrs ago which took about three weeks on a part time basis. Had some issues with the water pipe change over, the pipe mounting backets were misaligned. The AC line is suppose to be bent on an angle but that was like impossible so we just let it be with no problem. Then needed a different water pump pully from the old OME pully. Drilling a hole in the oil pan, for oil lube liine, without leaving any shavings was tricky. Had to send the system computer back to Vortech for the tuning chip. Forty thousand miles later I'm in the middle of doing a rebuild of the bearings ($250 kit from superchargerrebuild) not to be done by an average tree shade mechanic. Vortech will do it for around $800, but will not sell you the bearings, sure glad I've got a race car friend.

        5 1997 Cobra - Whit

        Buy This Amazing Product!!

        After months of research, made this purchase from AM because of the price and free shipping, and because Vortech is a very high end product. Even got a rebate from Vortech! I did a very detailed install and some other unrelated work that took a number weeks, but I could see this being completed in a couple of weekends with ease. Great components, unbelievable quality and fitment, excellent install manual. I got great advice and support directly from a Vortech engineer (Thanks Jamie Rabago) because I live at altitude (5500 ft plus) which created some minor complications. Vortech even gave me an upgraded chip no charge to help with fuel mapping and a dyno tune. The end result is 427HP/357 ft pounds torque (crank) at this altitude with no intercooler and no other major mods aside from a Bassani X-Pipe Exhaust. Retained great driveablity, but hang on when you "mat" it. If you have an SN-95 Cobra or GT, buy this product. It is less expensive than other superchargers, and greatly outperforms them. Thanks AM; I've been a long time customer, and you proved me right for my loyalty. And keep working with great companies and providing these kind of superior products. Bravo AM and Vortech!!

      Can this be installed in a 1995 Lincoln Mark VIII without much modification?

      • The Vortech supercharger is designed to fit 96-98 Mustang Cobra models and will not fit a 1995 Lincoln Mark VIII.

      2 questions: 1. Will this setup fit in a swap 87 mustang coupe foxbody? 2. I'm in California, and smog regulations here are super tight. My 96 cobra foxbody swap is currently passing smog emissions. Will adding this setup cause any emissions red flag or cause smog to fail? Thanks

      • The Vortech Supercharger System is designed for the 4.6L DOHC in the 96-98 Chassis. This has not been tested on that engine in a Fox Chassis, but will most likely require modification or customization in order to be used. This kit does carry CARB EO # D-213-17 allowing it to pass smog, however being in a different chassis than what is described in the CARB EO, you may need to consult with local smog inspectors to confirm legality.

      is it possible to add an intercooler to this kit with bov?

      • You can add an intercooler to this kit. For one that work in conjunction with this supercharger, please give Vortech a call as they have one specifically for this setup.

      programming for supercharger i purchased a vortec supercharger kit for my 97 cobra it is unbelivably awsome but i recently had to replace the starter the battery was unhooked for 2 days now i have no power and my fuel mileage has been cut in half did something happen to the tune or what any help would be greatly appreciated thanks

      • It definitely sounds like something wasn't installed correctly or something happened to the tune. If you ever have problems with your Vortech Supercharger System - Satin (96-98 Cobra) in general it is best to contact the manufacturer/whoever is writing your tunes.

      Adding horsepower is great, but what else do I have to add to my stang so that it won't break something with the supercharger?

      • It's really about making sure the parts that are on the car are up to the task unless it is stated that it's absolutely needed to replace them. Making sure your drivetrain has/ had the best maintaince possible goes a long way to avoid costly repairs. So using high-quality oil and gear fluid is essential. Personally Royal Purple has my vote. Other than that their are three things you may want to consider here. A clutch upgrade could be in order so you can transmit that power without destroying the stock piece. Secondly, an intercooler (charge cooler) is something I would run for any supercharged set-up. The supercharger compresses the air, and as a result, heats it. This heat can possibly lead to detonation. An intercooler will allow more consistent and safe operation at the limits. Lastly and most importantly.. A spot on tune by someone you can trust and has a great reputation. The tune can make or break any supercharged set-up so I would recommend some dyno time.
