Justin: If you're looking for an affordable way to increase the stopping power in your 2015 and newer non-performance pack GT or your performance pack EcoBoost by nearly 20%, well then you'll definitely wanna consider the Street Warrior Z26 kit from PowerStop. Now, this particular option will include the new carbon-ceramic pads here along with your slotted and drilled rotors for the front of the car, all for right around the high $200 price point. Install is gonna be relatively straightforward, guys, so I figure a soft two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter and a couple of hours at most to complete from start to finish as we'll show you later in the video. So, if you didn't know, PowerStop is a very popular option when it comes to affordable braking solutions or upgrades here on the site. And I really like that they give Mustang owners a few different options when it comes to just how aggressive they wanna get. For instance, they have their extremely bare-bones OE replacement parts or kits all the way down to the super-aggressive Track Day stuff and really everything in between. Now, the Z26 kit that we have here today will offer a pad that will be one step below their Track Day option in regards to aggressiveness and material while pairing it up with a brand new set of drilled and slotted rotors. But since this pad is unique to this kit, what do you say we talk about it a little bit more? All right, guys, here it is. It's their extreme pad. Again, it is a carbon-ceramic option, so a little bit more bite than the Z23 kit that will utilize more of a run-of-the-mill ceramic option with a little less carbon built in. Now, PowerStop does claim that the Z26 pad that we have here will be both noise and dust-free, but it's been my experience that a more aggressive carbon-ceramic pad like this typically is gonna produce a little bit more of both when compared to a less aggressive straight-up ceramic pad, right? Now, I have a similar pad on my S197. And while I will say stopping power is very impressive, I do get a little bit more dust compared to an old or OE set of pads. Noise is very minimal, not an option or not a problem, I should say, with the Z26 pad. In fact don't take my word for it, guys. It's a great time to read up on some of the customer reviews back on the product page as you get a lot of guys on the site with very positive things to say about the PowerStop kit including a big-time upgrade to the stopping power. So, as always, check those out if you haven't already done so. But the pads are only one-half of the equation, right? You are also receiving a set of rotors with the Street Warrior kit here as well. Now, you can see, they have been given both that slotted and drilled treatment to kind of help combat some of the heat and fade while, let's be honest, looking very cool behind your favorite set of wheels at the same time. Now, the cast rotors are 13.8 inches in diameter. They have been mill-balanced and rotor run out has been tested to be within OE or factory spec, just basically fancy words for saying you shouldn't experience any nasty vibration or inconsistencies with the rotors themselves. They are site-specific, they are labeled right out of the box to eliminate any confusion there. And finally, guys, you will see the silver-zinc plating is in place to help reduce any unsightly surface rust or corrosion on the non-friction surfaces. Last but not least here, guys, PowerStop does back everything with their 3-year, 36,000-mile warranty just in case you happen to run into any issues over the time. Now, as far as your install is concerned, well, very basic automotive stuff, I would say, pads and rotors, so I figure a soft two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter here, maybe two hours of your time from start to finish, and I think that's being rather generous. But to give you a better idea of just how things will go down, check out our detailed walkthrough and tool breakdown now.Man: Tools used for this insulation, a hammer, pry bar, cutting pliers, 15-millimeter socket, an extension, flat blade screwdriver, 3/8 ratchet, and bungee cord. Hey, guys, we're gonna get into the removal and installation of our brake pads and rotors on our 2015 Mustang. We're gonna start by removing our caliper pins and brake pads and then go into removing our rotor. Let's get started. First thing we're gonna do is remove our spring clip here that holds our two pins in. You're just gonna be able to pull that one, pull out the other. Next, we will take our hammer here, pop out our pins, and get them so far with a hammer. I'm gonna take my pliers, get on the back of the head of the pin, wiggle it out. I'm gonna hold this clip so it don't fly out. We wanna remove our clip. Pull out our pins. Now that we have our pins out, I'm going to take my pry bar, I'm gonna wedge it in here, and just push a little bit to get the caliper to go back and the pistons to go back just a little bit. I don't really have to do it to both. I will. Actually, I can get in there and get that out.So, once you move one side, you should be okay. Now we're gonna take...slide our brake pads out. I'll use my screwdriver to pry a little bit here. Sometimes you have to push these back. That's why I was going to do it. Push it down a little bit. Take the pry bar just a little bit. That was enough to get it to come free. We'll just wiggle that one out. Now that we have our brake pads removed, we're going to get in the back of our caliper and take our two 15-millimeters out and then remove our caliper. So, now we're going to take off our two 15-millimeters in the back here. I'm gonna take our upper one off. Now, remove this one. And that will remove our caliper. I'm gonna take my caliper, hang it up with a bungee cord, so that way, it's not hanging on the brake hose and taking a chance of collapsing it. And now we'll remove our rotor. So, now that we got our caliper off, we're gonna remove our rotor. If your rotor is like ours, it's been on here a while in this car, it's just not gonna come off because it's rusted fast to the spindle. So, what I'm gonna do is take my hammer and smack it right here. It should loosen it up, then we'll get it off, and then we'll clean our spindle, make sure everything looks good before we start reassembling our new rotors. And so I'm gonna take my hammer, give it a couple of good whacks, and off comes the rotor. Now, we'll inspect our spindle, make sure it's clean, cleaning up as best as we can. And then we'll start our re-assemble. So, now that we got our spindle cleaned here, we cleaned this all off, we're gonna reinstall our new rotor. I'm gonna take it and put it on. And this is the perfect time now, since you have this all apart, if you wanna clean and paint this area right here because that's what's gonna get rusty. You have it all apart, you might as well do it. Clean your caliper, get everything done. Now that we have our rotor on, next, we're gonna install our caliper. So, now we're gonna reinstall our caliper. I'm gonna get this in place. Now, on our caliper, our pistons are already back, so we're not gonna have to push them back. If you get yours off and your pads are worn down, you're gonna have to use a caliper spreader in here, push your pistons back before you put your brake pads on, or as like I said, or all the way back. Our brakes were pretty new, so I'm not gonna have to push them back. So, that's why I'm just reinstalling the caliper. Once I get those two started, I'm gonna take my 15-millimeter. I'm gonna tighten these up. And then you're gonna wanna torque these to manufacturer spec. It's very important that you do that and make sure these are really tight. Now with that, we'll start putting our brake pads in and reassembling our caliper. So now that we got our caliper on, I'm just gonna show you a couple of things. This was the spreader that we could have used to go in here and push the pistons back. And it's just a ratcheting spreader. You could use one of the brake pads if you don't have something like this and your screwdriver to get in here. Now our caliper...or our pistons were all the way back, so I didn't have to do that. So, I just wanted to go over with you so you know that before you go put new brake pads on, you're gonna have to push these back and you're gonna have to use a spreader, or when you get ready to take this and disassemble, you can move the pistons back with the brake pad, the old brake pad, and get them back in place. And you're only gonna want to do these one at a time. You're not gonna wanna take the other side off. You do this side first. Then when you're done, you get this side all back together. You would go in and pump the pedal on the car and get the brake pedal done, and then go back over to the passenger side and start doing your brakes over there. Now we'll get ready to start installing our new brake pads. So, now we're gonna install our brake pads. We're gonna take some of the lubrication silicone stuff that's supplied in the kit. I'm gonna put that on the ends of our brake pads. Then I'm gonna take them, slide them in place. I'm gonna try to just line it up with the holes back here. Now we'll take our other brake pad. I'm gonna put the other pad in now. We put some lubrication on both ends. We'll slide this pad into place too, line up the hole like that. Now we'll take our pins. I'm gonna start my pins in place. And we'll get one started and all the way through. And put our metal clip on that one and tapping that into place.Once we get it like that, I'm gonna take my hammer. Tap on both into place. Now our clip is holding everything in. They're not gonna move around. And what we'll do last is we'll get a close-up shot of putting the spring clip in the back. Now we'll install our spring clip back into place to hold our pins in. I use my cutters there just to get it so it twists the pins, and that holds it and locks it in place. And then our clips are all on. I like to double-check everything, make sure everything is tight. You wanna remember to torque your 15-millimeters in the back to factory specs. And that completes this installation. That wraps up this review and install of our PowerStop Z26 Street Warrior brake rotor and pad kit front for '15 to '21 standard GT and EcoBoost Mustangs with performance pack. Thanks for watching. And for all things Mustang, keep it right here at americanmuscle.com.
