Review & Install Video

Hey everyone, I'm Justin with americanmuscle.com. This is my breakdown of the Power Stop cross drilled and slotted rotor and pad kit available for all 1994 to 2014 Mustangs. Power Stop is a company that specializes in producing quality braking components for a wide variety of applications, all with the goal of increasing your stopping power for a very affordable price. We have had some recent experience with Power Stop's kit on our 2014 GT project car named Project Coyote, and if you guys want, you can click on that link below. You can check out all of our project car builds and also subscribe to our YouTube channel while you're there to check out more in depth detailed product overviews. This particular Power Stop kit, as I mentioned earlier, is available for just about every generation Mustang there is, including the newer Brembo cars, and really is a great bang for your buck mod. With this kit, you do get both the front and rear cross drilled and slotted rotors in addition to the brand new ceramic pads for the same price other companies are charging just for the front two rotors alone. Now that you know what's included with the kit, let's break down the individual components a little further. As I mentioned earlier, you do get the front and rear rotors, both of which have been cross drilled and slotted. If you're not aware of the benefits of running a cross drilled and slotted rotor, here's the deal. They will actually prevent a little excess heat from building up, and it also reduces some brake fade after a few repetitive hard stops. The rotors have also been silver zinc coated to help prevent any possible rust or corrosion from building up and to ensure that the rotors themselves remain looking good for years to come. Speaking of looking good, it's hard to deny the fact that a set of cross drilled and slotted rotors just look amazing on any car and add a much more aggressive look to the car itself. In fact, don't take my word for it. You can always click on the link below to check out the customer submitted images and reviews of these rotors on our very own customer pages. That way, you get a good look at what these rotors might look like on your very own Mustang. Again, click on the link below to check out the products page, if you're not there already. Moving on to the pads, the Power Stop kit does include the Evolution carbon ceramic brake pad which will help you in a couple of different ways. For starters, that carbon ceramic compound will allow for higher brake temperatures but with less brake fade, increasing your overall stopping power. In addition, these pads will be a little bit more quiet, and they will also produce less brake dust, helping to keep your wheels a lot cleaner. Installing a new set of brakes and rotors on any Mustang is actually a pretty straightforward job that just about any owner should feel confident in tackling using some basic hand tools and a lift or jack. You have to keep in mind, guys, you are tackling all four corners here, so expect to spend about three hours at least, or a nice Saturday or Sunday afternoon, in the garage to get everything knocked out. You definitely want to follow the manufacturer's recommended vetting process with the new set of pads and rotors to get the optimal performance and wear out of your setup. If you need more info about this, you can always check out the product page, or do not hesitate to get in touch with one of our award winning customer service agents by phone or by email. If you're looking to upgrade the brakes on your '94 and newer Mustang for a very affordable price, well then you have to check out the Power Stop kit available right here at americanmuscle.com.

Dumb Question! Whats the difference between these and the big brake pads? Is it just the size and of course stopping power? The others are almost 2-3x as much as these so these are a very good deal in my opinion. How big is the difference? I have a 12 V6

WishingItWasAV8

  • The Power Stop Z23 Evolution Sport Brake Rotor & Pad Kit - Front & Rear (11-14 V6) will give you a little better braking stop force then the stock ones. The big brake packages will have a bigger caliper and rotor making for a much faster stopping power.

Do these work on a Basic/Automatic V6? Stock tires, stock wheels, stock everything.. Lol (Or does your car have to be standard in order for these to fit?)

Power Stop Brake Rotor & Pad Kit

Brakes and rotors were shipped to me in a timely matter but my first set of front rotors were delivered with a chip on the inside of the rotor. (American Muscle was promptly informed and a replacement set was quickly provided free of charge.) Brakes and Rotors themselves were easily installed in my own garage and can be done by anyone quickly so long as they own the correct tools. The only issue i had with this produce was that the Shims were shipped to me incorrectly! the front Shims were shipped to me with the rear brake pads while the rears were shipped with the fronts. (Sealed in box from factory) I only discovered this after slightly forcing the rear shims to fit (with the assumption that they were correct) and realizing that the shims provided with the front brake shoes could in no logical way work to hold them in on the front calipers! Performance wise I have had no issues with this product, and while the brake quality is nowhere near as good as the Brembo's, they are significantly improved from the stock set and really improve the car's profile aesthetically from the side.

    Brakes

I decided to upgrade my brakes on my 2011 mustang but didn't want to spend an arm and a leg. These work wonderful, Stopping power has increased more then what I had expected. Would advise anyone that is trying to upgrade their brakes (front and rear) and don't want to spend 1500-3000 bucks, get these you will be happy you did. Installation took me about 3 hours (because I painted the calipers).

Much better than stock in many ways...

These brakes are working great, they stop way better than the stock brakes with silent noise free stopping power. I live in Hawaii and they also work better when wet. My stock brakes were rusting badly in less than a year. My wheels show everything behind them so these really improved the look and performance of the car. The color theme of my car is silver paint and chrome trim. These have a chrome look to them which fits. There is also way less brake dust so the wheels are cleaner for longer now. Great product!

    Nice looking brakes

They look great on the car and relatively easy to install if you know what your doing, nothing crazy. The brakes are good and look good, they don't feel as stiff and don't seem to stop me any faster but they're not any worse

    Great Bang for the money

I have owned a 2000 V6 Mustang and the factory brakes sucked, bought a 2014 V6 Mustang and i could not believe they had not upgraded the brakes. Bought this Brake kit and could not believe the difference, took a few hours the replace the front and back brakes, WELL worth the time and money. If your own a V6 Mustang these are a must.

    Z23 brakes

Bought this kit for our 14 Little Pony with 58,000 miles on it. Hoping for smoother braking and better wet weather performance. Received both and then some. Also received firmer pedal feel and overall better braking. Installed the kit myself. I would recommend that you have a caliper retraction tool for the rear calipers as I tried first to do this with the shade tree trick by using some needle nose pliers. The right rear caliper was too stiff to do this. Went to Harbour Freight and bought their kit. The rest of the job went fairly easy after that. The little spring clips for the front pads took a little finesse to install the pads with them in the carriers. I would recommend this kit to anyone looking for some brake improvement over stock not looking track use their car and with out spending a bunch of money. Very good kit.

    Worth it!

These are definitely am upgrade from your stock brakes, they feel nice to cruise with and speed wise. The installation did take about 6-7 hours of work considering we didn't have all the tools we needed to do them so a lot of driving around for tools. But overall this is a great product, thank you American muscle!

    AWESOME!

Perfect for anyone not wanting to spend a lot on brakes. The rotors look very clean and refined. After the brakes were broken in, I definitely noticed a difference in stoppage. My rims don't get as dirty as they did before and overall, this kit definitely enhances the car's appearance. Highly recommend this kit! Thanks AM!

    NOT FOR V6 PERFORMANCE PACK!

First off the springs on the front pads fall off... So I returned the pads and went with the Hawk Ceramic pads. I have a 2013 v6 Performance pack. For the 2013/14 (not sure about the 2011/12) the front rotors included is this pack are too small. The performance pack uses GT front rotors, so I had to return the front rotors as well as the pads. Was not happy that American Muscle didn't inform me of this when I called to ask before I placed my order. So rather than a 4 hour install, I had to wait an additional week to do my brakes. The rotors are great, keep heat away, and with 13,000 miles on the rotors as well as a lot of hard braking, no warping so far.

Power Stop Brake and Rotar Kit

So I decided to try this kit because I needed the extra stopping power that was advertised. This install was done by a local known brake shop and took them about 2 hrs. One thing the break shop informed me of about these rotars is that they cannot be shaved down and reused as normal brake rotars would and that was new to me. Basically, once these are done you have to buy new ones when other rotars can be reused. But these were like $399.99 they better last forever! The fitment was perfect 0 complications. The look was great but could've been bigger considering they are the same size as the stock rotars, baby size compared to the GT Rotar size. I haven't really noticed braking power, okay maybe when you come to a gradual hault from 40 to 0mph you can feel how simple it is to slow down without slamming on the brakes. I was hoping that one you just touched the brake you'd actually feel the braking power but that's just me. Overall, the price seems reasonable, the fitment is spot on, look is great but could've been bigger, and stoping power is there just do try to gradually hault from above 40mph down to 0 because I don't know just how well you'd stop, maybe you'll be fine. Hope this review helps you guys!

    Needed something cheap, Yet reliable.

I was thinking about getting the full DBA Gold X-Series Cross/Drilled rotors with ceramic brake pads, The full thing would have been around $800, But the front rotors were out of stock and I didn't want to mismatch the rotors... I decided to get these temporarily, As I needed them ASAP because my old ones were gone and just barely stopping my car. I didn't think these would be too good, However I can feel a big difference. I've used them for about 75 miles and they heat up super quick, They start smelling burned if you stop too quick. I don't like that and hopefully that will stop happening after some more driving, But I do recommend these. I was impressed, For the price I paid.

    Bargain Rotors

I bought these to increase stopping power, but I had them smoking after only a few runs of hard braking. Not sure if this is part of the breaking in process. but I thought they were going to burn up. I was slowing down from about 85, and did this about three time and they were hot as _ell. I am still looking to bembro or wilwood brakes as the final alternative. If ou dn't pln on hard use, then I recommend these brakes, but if you plan to go hard, then get a solis set with a 4 to 6 piston upgrade. Stopping is just as important as getting up to speed.

2011 v6 mustang power stop brakes

These brakes defiantly look great and stop on a dime. I would recommend these brakes to anyone that wants a little extra stopping power. I only have a complaint about the clips that hold in the brakes they need to be bent and were a pain till I learned that. Once you bend them they stay in no problem.
