Review & Install Video

Hey everyone, I'm Justin with americanmuscle.com. This is my breakdown of the Power Stop cross drilled and slotted rotor and pad kit available for all 1994 to 2014 Mustangs. Power Stop is a company that specializes in producing quality braking components for a wide variety of applications, all with the goal of increasing your stopping power for a very affordable price. We have had some recent experience with Power Stop's kit on our 2014 GT project car named Project Coyote, and if you guys want, you can click on that link below. You can check out all of our project car builds and also subscribe to our YouTube channel while you're there to check out more in depth detailed product overviews. This particular Power Stop kit, as I mentioned earlier, is available for just about every generation Mustang there is, including the newer Brembo cars, and really is a great bang for your buck mod. With this kit, you do get both the front and rear cross drilled and slotted rotors in addition to the brand new ceramic pads for the same price other companies are charging just for the front two rotors alone. Now that you know what's included with the kit, let's break down the individual components a little further. As I mentioned earlier, you do get the front and rear rotors, both of which have been cross drilled and slotted. If you're not aware of the benefits of running a cross drilled and slotted rotor, here's the deal. They will actually prevent a little excess heat from building up, and it also reduces some brake fade after a few repetitive hard stops. The rotors have also been silver zinc coated to help prevent any possible rust or corrosion from building up and to ensure that the rotors themselves remain looking good for years to come. Speaking of looking good, it's hard to deny the fact that a set of cross drilled and slotted rotors just look amazing on any car and add a much more aggressive look to the car itself. In fact, don't take my word for it. You can always click on the link below to check out the customer submitted images and reviews of these rotors on our very own customer pages. That way, you get a good look at what these rotors might look like on your very own Mustang. Again, click on the link below to check out the products page, if you're not there already. Moving on to the pads, the Power Stop kit does include the Evolution carbon ceramic brake pad which will help you in a couple of different ways. For starters, that carbon ceramic compound will allow for higher brake temperatures but with less brake fade, increasing your overall stopping power. In addition, these pads will be a little bit more quiet, and they will also produce less brake dust, helping to keep your wheels a lot cleaner. Installing a new set of brakes and rotors on any Mustang is actually a pretty straightforward job that just about any owner should feel confident in tackling using some basic hand tools and a lift or jack. You have to keep in mind, guys, you are tackling all four corners here, so expect to spend about three hours at least, or a nice Saturday or Sunday afternoon, in the garage to get everything knocked out. You definitely want to follow the manufacturer's recommended vetting process with the new set of pads and rotors to get the optimal performance and wear out of your setup. If you need more info about this, you can always check out the product page, or do not hesitate to get in touch with one of our award winning customer service agents by phone or by email. If you're looking to upgrade the brakes on your '94 and newer Mustang for a very affordable price, well then you have to check out the Power Stop kit available right here at americanmuscle.com.

How does the brake kit perform compared with the 03 Cobra 10th Anniversary brakes. Need to replace but want a definite upgrade in performance. Would these outperform the Cobra breaks with a ceramic pad? Thanks for your insight.

    Great brake kit

Ordered this kit to get my 98 cobra braking right, previous owner put standard, non slotted rotors on, I've had the car a year. Everything came this is needed in the box. Make sure you get a rear brake rotor compressor, AutoZone lends them with deposit. A C clamp won't work. The rears are twist in brakes. The pads are ceramic carbon fiber, so there is a small break in procedure that's fun. Basically getting your brakes hot as possible, and never coming to a stop 10 times. A friend a street over put this kit on his cobra, still no rust on it, that's what sold me. I hated to cover them up with wheels and tires. They stop great, with no fade, and from any speed. Install was fast and easy. My one front rotor was frozen on, hammer wouldn't budge it. If u have that problem, check YouTube for a trick using two bolts and nuts through the caliper mounts, worked like a charm

    Great brake kit!

I was skeptical about getting this brake kit due to price being so low and fear of it being cheap. After reading other reviews and my car needing brakes I went for it. It was well worth it. Great stopping power, quiet, and looks great. It took about 3-4 hours to install.

    serious brake check

Took longer to install due to having to replace damaged lugs thanks to tire store. No issus with installing parts themselves. Looks great through wheel openins. Hit brakes hards at a yellow light at intersection with camera. Stopped a little over half a car length then normal. If someone riding your rear bumper probably cnnot stop as fast as you with these brakes.

    best bang for your buck

In my opinion this is the best brake upgrade for around $400 Install was like an every day brake change. Improved overall feel when brakes applied. Great product. The only issue I have is visual. The rotors have more contact area than where the pad actually hits. Doesnt affect performance.

    Great stock replacement!

The quality of these rotors and pads speaks for themselves. Installation is easy and they just STOP! Don’t forget to bleed your brakes after the work is done and I would recommend spraying the wheel studs down with some PB Blaster to make it easier to remove your old rotors. I had to hit mine with a mallet a few times to break them loose. I installed these along with the Russell Stainless Steel brake lines (also available from AM) and my brakes have never been better! Thanks AM!

Great upgrade to stock cobra brakes

I put this power stop brake kit on my 04 gt with cobra brakes. It is a great upgrade over the stock solid rotors and pads. This product is an exact fit. Improved stopping distance and are very quiet. Stopping is very smooth and improved.I installed this kit along with stainless steel brake hoses for the calipers and together make a overall noticeable difference. Car stops on a dime now! I would recommend the power stop kit for any mustang owner for a cobra, gt, or v6, it is a great price for what you get. Thank you American mucsle!

    Pads aren't too great...

So I purchased these less than a year ago and haven't put a whole lot of miles on them. My rear drivers side pad wore out and ended up damaging the rotor! Everything was aligned properly when they were installed so I am baffled. The rest of the pads seem to be in decent condition. I think I'll spend a little bit more money next time, you get what you pay for after all.
