    Review & Install Video

Hey, guys, Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com, here with the review and install of the PA Performance Premium Power Wire Kit for 1994 to 2014 Mustangs. You're gonna wanna check out this power wire kit if you have a high amp alternator and you wanna upgrade your power wire to carry the larger load that the alternator will produce. The stock OEM Power Wire from the alternator to the car wasn't designed to carry the larger loads, so when you spend your money upgrading your alternator to a high amp one, you wanna make sure that you're getting the full benefit so you need to upgrade your power wire. And I know that '05 to 14's can have that annoying check charging system notification since there is an issue with factory alternator and power wire so an alternator upgrade and this power wire kit will eliminate that issue for you and stop you from going through batteries. This kit will work with a factory alternator but it's really designed to carry the larger load of an upgraded component. The only thing this kit will not work with is the GT500 models. If you have a GT500, there's a specific kit that will work for you. This wire is a 48-inch, 4-gauge wire that has more strands than the factory wire, which is how it carries the larger load and it also has bundle wrapping, which is gonna reduce noise in high-end sound systems. The wire is finished off with new looming so it'll look nice under the hood. When it comes to price, you're looking at spending right about $50 for this power wire. It's gonna be your only option on this site when it comes to power wire upgrades but this will work with any alternator, stock or aftermarket. The install for this is not difficult. I'm gonna call it a one out of three wrenches in the difficulty meter, which take an hour or two to install and you need a few tools to get the job done. The wire itself is only two bolts and this is a part that fits a wide range of years. So depending on what year of Mustang you have, the specific steps and routing maybe a little bit different but generally speaking, the overall install will be the same. Either way, you need to disconnect your battery. The power wire bolts into the back of the alternator and you can remove that and the other end at the battery as well. You're just looking at unbolting two bolts here. Pull your new power wire up in the correct orientation and route it away from any danger zones. After that, you can connect your battery and that's all it's gonna take. Wrapping things up here with the PA Performance Premium Power Wire Kit, this kit will fit all 1994-2014 Mustangs, except the GT500. You can check it out more online right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Handle More Power. The stock OEM wire from the alternator to the vehicle was not designed to carry the larger loads that high AMP replacement alternators produce. By installing this Premium Power Wire Upgrade Kit, you will add the additional safe carrying capacity needed for lengths up to 4 feet.

Premium Wire. This Premium Power Wire Kit is made from the highest quality #4 gauge wire, with increased number of strands, electrolytic copper and bundle wrapping to reduce the noise in high end sound systems. All this while still being incredibly flexible and sporting a show quality finish.

Application. The PA Performance Premium Power Wire Kit will work with your factory alternator; however, it's designed for use in 1994 to 2014 Mustangs with higher than stock AMP alternators, including V6, GT, Bullitt, Mach 1, Cobra and BOSS 302 models. Not compatible with GT500 models.

I need to replace my alternator, and want to go to a 200amp. I have the Edelbrock E-Force supercharger on my 2008 Mustang GT, which flips the alternator around to face the engine and lowers it a bit. Will this wire work or will it be too short?

    EricG

    • This PA Performance Premium Power Wire Kit will handle the increase when you switch to a 200amp Alternator. The wire length is 48 inches.

So do take out the old wire and replace with this one or you put both of them together.

      Great Product

Make sure you purchase with the upgraded Alternator . I am running large amp and stereo system in my car. The upgraded size wire makes all the difference in the world. Very easy to replace the stock cable. One thing that might help a person not familiar with cars or a first timer. You have to take the existing plug-in assembly that plugs into back of alternator and into wiring harness off from under the existing wire loom and install on the new one along with the factory plastic holders from the existing.

      Cable too short

This cable is too short to be installed correctly following Ford's cable routing. The picture I uploaded shows how the cable is too short on the battery end to be properly install the fuse block to the firewall at the right of the battery. The installation instructions provided were for the wrong generation (older) of Mustang. I contacted PA Performance customer support and not only did they deny there was any problem with the cable, they couldn't even provide instructions on how to properly route the cable on a 2005 Mustang.

      Nice, however.........

This power wire kit seems to be well built and performs as advertised and very easy to install(only 2 screws). However......it seems the manufacture could have made the plastic box that holds the fuse a little bit smaller. There is not much room in the engine compartment of a mustang for extra equipment and a short 4 foot wire limits the places to mount the box. A good product, just needs some redesigning.

      pa perf. premium power wire

Fits great, works as intended. Installation was fairly easy; I had to borrow some electrical tape from the neighbor. Separate the old wire from some other wiring, route the new wire in place of the old wire, and tape it back up.

      Way better than OEM

After my 3rd OEM alternator replacement my dealership told me they replaced the power wire with an upgraded heavy duty wire. That thing wasn't even close to the quality of this wire. Plus, the OEM wire doesn't have a fuse block.

      It's a nice product but....

I bought this cause others said it was worth while getting. Plus my girlfriends car has over 200k on it. As others said if you have a tall battery you'll have to remove it to mount this. Also it seems the wire is really close to engine down by the alternator. There's so space but not much. I also had to add some loom to it.

      Easy install

I bought this to go with the pa performance high output alternator. This is easy to install and works great. It follows the factor power wire location.

Worked great - needed it for the 130Amp PA Performance alternator

Install was easy and it addressed issues I was having with my stock alternator wire. This thing pushes a lot of current, the stock one couldn't keep up with the new alternator and threw codes. The only con is that the clunky inline fuse is at an awkward spot with nowhere to really tuck it away if you have a tall battery.

Heavy duty cable for your PA alt.

What a difference from the stock cable. Easy to install. Just lay your old cable next to you new after removing from your car. Lay them on a table side by side, remove the one pig tail a three plastic mounting ratchets from the stock cable and retape with electrical tape on to the new cable. Watch the orientation of the ratchets and pigtail. Cables are same length.

      Good, but bad instructions

Good product, but you can't just replace the existing wire because the fuse forces you to re-route the cable. Also, the instructions were specific but not for my mustang. I was on my own figuring out how to install it.
