    Review & Install Video

Hey, guys, Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com, here with the review and install of the PA Performance Premium Power Wire Kit for 1994 to 2014 Mustangs. You're gonna wanna check out this power wire kit if you have a high amp alternator and you wanna upgrade your power wire to carry the larger load that the alternator will produce. The stock OEM Power Wire from the alternator to the car wasn't designed to carry the larger loads, so when you spend your money upgrading your alternator to a high amp one, you wanna make sure that you're getting the full benefit so you need to upgrade your power wire. And I know that '05 to 14's can have that annoying check charging system notification since there is an issue with factory alternator and power wire so an alternator upgrade and this power wire kit will eliminate that issue for you and stop you from going through batteries. This kit will work with a factory alternator but it's really designed to carry the larger load of an upgraded component. The only thing this kit will not work with is the GT500 models. If you have a GT500, there's a specific kit that will work for you. This wire is a 48-inch, 4-gauge wire that has more strands than the factory wire, which is how it carries the larger load and it also has bundle wrapping, which is gonna reduce noise in high-end sound systems. The wire is finished off with new looming so it'll look nice under the hood. When it comes to price, you're looking at spending right about $50 for this power wire. It's gonna be your only option on this site when it comes to power wire upgrades but this will work with any alternator, stock or aftermarket. The install for this is not difficult. I'm gonna call it a one out of three wrenches in the difficulty meter, which take an hour or two to install and you need a few tools to get the job done. The wire itself is only two bolts and this is a part that fits a wide range of years. So depending on what year of Mustang you have, the specific steps and routing maybe a little bit different but generally speaking, the overall install will be the same. Either way, you need to disconnect your battery. The power wire bolts into the back of the alternator and you can remove that and the other end at the battery as well. You're just looking at unbolting two bolts here. Pull your new power wire up in the correct orientation and route it away from any danger zones. After that, you can connect your battery and that's all it's gonna take. Wrapping things up here with the PA Performance Premium Power Wire Kit, this kit will fit all 1994-2014 Mustangs, except the GT500. You can check it out more online right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Handle More Power. The stock OEM wire from the alternator to the vehicle was not designed to carry the larger loads that high AMP replacement alternators produce. By installing this Premium Power Wire Upgrade Kit, you will add the additional safe carrying capacity needed for lengths up to 4 feet.

Premium Wire. This Premium Power Wire Kit is made from the highest quality #4 gauge wire, with increased number of strands, electrolytic copper and bundle wrapping to reduce the noise in high end sound systems. All this while still being incredibly flexible and sporting a show quality finish.

Application. The PA Performance Premium Power Wire Kit will work with your factory alternator; however, it's designed for use in 1994 to 2014 Mustangs with higher than stock AMP alternators, including V6, GT, Bullitt, Mach 1, Cobra and BOSS 302 models. Not compatible with GT500 models.

I have an 08 Mustang GT 4.7 liter, I’m planning on upgrading the alternator and wiring to the 200 amp alt and performance wiring. Do I need to upgrade the battery as well to accommodate the higher power output of the alternator?

    BradF

I need an 8ft power wire the mechanic that replaced my alternator said it wouldn't reach with my high output alternator that i had him install. Can i just buy an amp wire kit and fix this i guess or do you make a longer version?

    StephenP

I need to replace my alternator, and want to go to a 200amp. I have the Edelbrock E-Force supercharger on my 2008 Mustang GT, which flips the alternator around to face the engine and lowers it a bit. Will this wire work or will it be too short?

    EricG

    • This PA Performance Premium Power Wire Kit will handle the increase when you switch to a 200amp Alternator. The wire length is 48 inches.

So do take out the old wire and replace with this one or you put both of them together.

      PA Performance premium power wire.

I installed the PA Performance 200 amp altenator and premium power wire kit on my 2006 Mustang GT. These parts solved my “check charging system” issue that I was having. No more dim lights at idle! Excellent purchase for anyone. Very easy to install when installing altenator at the same time.

      Easy install

Easy to install for upgrading your alternator. Replaced stock 130amp with 200 amp alternator and car starts up much easier and no dead batteries. Simply route along where stock wiring is removed.

      Best Alternator power wire ever!

3 guage alternator wire will handle heveay duty 130-200amp alternator power without heating up, melting or catching on fire (which can happen w thin guage OEM 6-8 guage std duty alternator/battery power wires). Engine runs smoother, more consisttent 12V plus power all the time to your engine electronic controls etc.. This is a low cost no brainer! Great value and fast free shipping as ususal from AM!

      huge box adds clutter

The power cord was ready to rock. Have zip ties ready. I just cut the old electrical tap on the multiple connectors to run the cord up to the firewall and across to the battery. Verses trying to break the plastic push pin runners. I am not a fan of the big bulky box, although the length was sufficient, I would have allowed more room to hide the box more on the passenger side between battery and fender. Overall pretty good, and very noticeable power increase.

      Functional but could be longer

The wire kit bolts up fine on both ends but the length seems to be just enough to fit a standard factory wiring path. My car is a factory Roush with the M90 supercharger and the original power wire ran around the front of the engine going below the supercharger pulley and along the path of the air intake tube back to the firewall and then over to the battery. This cable wasn't long enough to go that route but with some creativity I found a wiring path that would work with the length available.

high quality product - excellent connections

This is a high quality product for stock run from battery to alternator. You will need to customize if if you have the Edelbrock E-Force supercharger that inverts the alternator. I may have installed mine backwards because I put the fuse side on the battery side instead of the alternator side. I did that because I didn't want the fuze box down near all the pulleys due to my alternator being inverted. Because I have the fuse side on the battery side, the fuse box sits directly on top of the negative battery post which is concerning because the back of the fuse box has 2 open spots that are the positive metal bolt heads. 5 stars due to my whacky application being my doing and not PA Performance haha

      PERFECT FIT!!

I was reading the reviews and was worried it wouldn’t be long enough for my 05 mustang gt. Once it can in the mail I installed right away with 200amp alternator and it was easy and perfect fit.

Lots of work but high quality

This power wire took quite a bit of unwrapping of the factory wiring to get to on my 2003 GT, but once it was all done and wrapped back up with black tape, it looked good and works great for it's purpose.

      Mostly good

This takes care of the alternator to the fuse box under the hood, but still need to provide your own cable from the fuse box to the battery. Nicely done fittings on what you get with an in-line fuse as part of it so that’s nice
