which way do they go? wha direction does the air flow?

Will this fit a stock single exhaust V6 Mustang? Or will I have to swap to a Dual Exhaust (which I don't have the money for) Just trying to make it sound louder and meaner.

    99Mustang

    • You do not need to do a dual exhaust swap to install this and have this work.

All of the pictures I've seen have shown this muffler connected to a dual exhaust. I was wondering if it would still sound the same if it were put on an all stock 04 mustang V6?

    Drew

    • Hi, This Pypes M-80 Bullet Style Muffler wont sound exactly the same on a V6 as a V8 but it will sound pretty similar.

H pipe with no cats Hey, I have a 2003 mustang gt with the factory h-pipe but with the cats removed, i was wondering how it would sound and on a scale 1-10 it would be, are these deep sounding mufflers or just loud? Thanks

    David97

    • I think they would sound very nice. I have them on my car and they are in my opinion a mix of loud and deep. The youtube videos dont really do them justice they sound way better in person. Im running mine with an offroad H pipe and 3 inch tailpipes so im sure mine is a little louder than most.

no o/r or h pipe? i was wondering how these would sound if i just went all straight from the cats to rear axle with no h-pipe or o/r ? any advice would be great thanks.

    misterpancho

    • I have a Pypes Exhaust using these and it has an x-pipe, no cats and it is VERY loud! I would stick with the x-pipe though since it does help the power pulses. If you keep the cats it will quiet it down some but it will still have a throaty roar. Probably as close to open exhaust as you will get.

Does this sound differ from a CherryBomb glasspack? I previously had an 18inch glasspack on my car replacing the stock muffler, and was very unsatisfied. I have a 2000 V6 so I know it won't sound as throaty as a V8, but I've had no muffler at all before and the sound between that and a glasspack is very different, with the glasspack sounding very "ricey" in comparison. Does the M-80 sound any different than a glasspack?

    Nick

    • The Pypes M-80 Bullet Style Muffler will sound different than a Glass pack, however all mufflers of this straight through/resonator design will give a very aggressive tone, which on a V6 is typically not desirable. We would recommend a chambered muffler, or "turbo" muffler to get a deeper tone from your 2000 V6 Mustang.

      Do not buy!!

I bought these and boy do i regret it. There extremly loud and im not talkin about a good loud either. Really raspy almost sound like a truck with straight pipe. If you go past 2500 rpms you might as well turn the radio off. Sorry should of stuck with magnaflows but that's what you get for trying to save a buck.

This is the first I've heard someone disappointed with the sound these mufflers give off. I'd suggest coupling these with an O/R X-pipe as some others have commented that the two combined sounds great. If you'd like, please contact our Experts and they'd be more than willing to help you find the sound your looking for!

      Great Sound

This made my mustang sound amazing. You will defenatly tell the difference when you put it on. I had a muffler shop put mine on and it only took about 20 min and it cost me 40$ all around it was perfect for a deeper tone and I love it. Thanks AM for another great buy.

Quiet in the neighborhood, mean on the street.

Perfect fit with the Pypes "flow tubes" and some cheap auto part store turndown tips. A little weld to put on the hangers or some ingenuity with a pipe clamp and some wire and these will be the last exhaust you need. Racey growl with Pypes offroad X-pipe, no popping or obnoxious noises, makes a Mustang sound like a Mustang. If you like the 2 chamber drone these are NOT the muffler to buy, if you want Ferrari and lambos to take a second look at you these ARE the mufflers to buy. Happy Stangin'

      Sounds Awsome!

These mufflers really brought out the mean sound in my 2000 Mustang GT. Had an Off-road X pipe and the M-80's installed at a local exhaust shop and it turns heads everywhere i drive. I wasn't sure if I wanted to buy these or SLP Loudmouth, but the price caught my eye and was no doubt the right choice! Great Item, Thanks American Muscle.

      WOW just WOW

ok so i did a ton of research before i pulled the trigger on these, and it still never answered all of my questions so im gonna answer them here in case anyone else is on the fence. Yes they are cheaper than most setups, no it does not reflect the quality at all, they are pretty much built the same as the borla stingers. I had flowmaster 40 series cat back on my car before these, once i added my 4.10s the drone was crazy on the freeway so i started looking for a straight thru muffler, well these have no drone and are nice and mild at crusing speed. I also wanted loud but not annoying, after listening to some LM1s in person they were loud but realy high in the tone and didnt sound great on a o/r x pipe. These on the other hand have a really nice deep ton and wow do they wake up when you get on it, its was really suprising how great they sounded and i could tell a big difference in the low end torque thanks to them breathig way better than the flows. Bottom line they are not a big name that you can brag about, but once you hit it you wont need to brag they do all the talking for you, save you money and run these instead of the high priced name brands, they sound better are built just as good and wow your stang will be fun all over again.

Have owned Mustangs since 1965 including three Shelbys but my wife's 98 GT sounds better than any of them since we installed the Pypes. Two other guys in my shop ordered them once they heard mine

DON'T EVEN LOOK AT ANOTHER STRAIGHT THRU MUFFLER

I had Flowmaster Original 40s put on my pony when I first got her.... just b/c of the "Legendary Sound!" And as it goes for Flows they do sound good...if they didn't every other mustang on the road wouldn't have them right? I had my rear cats removed to give me the sound I was looking for and it gave me a good bit more volume and aggression but, still not any thing special. I wanted to make the switch to a straight thru design as opposed to the chambered style and thus I ran across the Pypes M-80s!! I was a bit hesitant and had plenty of second thoughts but rest assured you can not go wrong!!! Best bang for your buck hands down!! Look and finish is awesome!! AGGRESSIVE with a race car inspired tone is the best way to describe it! Bottom line..... stop looking at the $200 SLPs and the outrageous Borla systems!

      My car sounds great now!

Well, after noticing my mustang needed new mufflers (mine were all rusted out), I started searching for some good mufflers to install. I was looking at glasspacks, but wasn't sure were to start. I was looking at these and read all the 5 star reviews. So I decided to take the plunge and order a couple. Oh my god these are great! I haven't really made any performance upgrades to my mustang (but I want to now!) They have a great throaty sound. They're quiet enough for every day driving, but when you romp on the gas they get nice and loud. I went to go show a buddy of mine, and by the time I got to his house he was already standing in the driveway because he heard me a block away at the stop sign just romping on the gas a couple times. Im very happy with these mufflers and will shop on this site more often :-)

If you current catback system is set up for an off set muffler set up these will not fit, right out of the box. Will require bending of the tubing on said catback system

Best $90 i have ever spent

I had these on a stock 03 gt with a catted x pipe and when i first seen these i wasn't expecting much out of them because of the price, but i was wrong. a bit of drone at 1k rpm but after that its pure v8 rumble all the way through the rpm. Very happy with my purchase although looking to take out the cats soon for an even louder sound.

Pypes M80 on 2005 Mustang GT

well i had these installed on my 2005 mustang, im not a big fan of axle backs, when i first had them installed my setup was BBK long tube headers with an Offroad H pipe. the sound was really throaty not too loud or high pitched just a good rumble until really got on it...at high revs they would drone really bad with the offroad H two weeks later i took the H pipe off and put an Offroad X-pipe on and it sounded waaaaay better...no rasp or drone at all with these mufflers and the X pipe combined...my suggestion to anyone looking to get these is to couple it with an off -road X-pipe, its a lot louder and has a cleaner throatier sound than with the H-pipe overall good mufflers and for the price definitely worth it!!

      Best bang for your buck

If your like me and are on a tight budget these mufflers are the way to go. Not expensive and hangs with other higher priced brands plus the exhaust note is amazing. Combined with my Bassani catted x pipe my Bullitt gets compliments of how it sounds. Loud but not to the point of annoyance. Never been pulled over by cops but that's because i keep the rpms low, but after 3k rpm it screams. Overall nice throaty sound, these mufflers will leave you wanting to downshift often just to hear the exhaust note.

      These Mufflers Are Wicked

I took the Flowmasters off and replaced them with these M80s. I didn't know what to expect, but let me tell you these mufflers sound absolutely W I C K E D! If you're listening to video on youtube to get an idea of what these sound like, the videos do not do justice. You have to "be there" for your ears to really get the full effect. hahahaaaa Just be careful and easy on the accelerator while in town! Thanks AmericanMuscle.com , great service! (as usual) ☺
