    Review & Installation Video

Hey everybody, I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com. Welcome to the breakdown and sound clips of the Pypes Off-Road H-Pipe, available for your 2005 to 2010 Mustang GT. Swapping out your factory mid-pipe in favor of an aftermarket option is not only a great way to pick up some power, but can also totally transform the way your Mustang sounds. Now when deciding on a mid-pipe for your own ride, you do have a couple of different options. For instance, we can go with an off-road X-pipe or H-pipe like we have here, which is going to be devoid of any catalytic converters. On the other hand you can go with a catted mid-pipe, which will incorporate some kind of small, high-flow cat into the design. In addition to that, you will have to choose whether you want an H-pipe or an X-pipe. Traditionally you can expect a slightly raspier exhaust note when going with an X-pipe, and it's going to produce some slightly higher top-end horsepower gains. On the other hand, the H-pipe, like I do have with me here today, is going to give you that lower muscle car rumble, it's going to help reduce some of the rasp, and it should produce some slightly lower torque gains. Now, ultimately, guys, it's up to you to decide which mid-pipe you want to go with and what style you're looking for, for your own ride. Getting into some of the details here with this H-pipe from Pypes, you will notice 2 1/2-inch mandrel bent stainless steel tubing for the build, in addition to all your O2 bungs, which have already been pre-welded for you. Now, one thing I do like about this H-pipe from Pypes, is that it is a modular design, meaning there's a few different pieces. So if you ever wanted to switch out the cat-less portion here, for sort of the pipe's high-flow cats, well, you can do so. And you can get more info on those on the product page. Now, whenever doing a mid-pipe video, I do want to remind you guys that this is a full-length mid-pipe. And what that means is it's only going to fit 3-valve cars with the stock headers still in place or an aftermarket pair of shorty headers. Now, if you are looking to do a long tube/mid-pipe combo, then you might want to check out Pypes' other version of this same exact H-pipe, but the shorty version, which is designed to work with a long tube setup. Install is going to be slightly more involved than an axleback, for instance, but overall it really isn't all that bad, say maybe two hours from start to finish, using basic hand tools. Now, keep in mind, guys, most of this install will be done underneath the car, so just make sure you have your jack or jack stands ready or race ramps if that's an option. So if you guys are looking to add both power and sound to your 3-valve GT for a very affordable price, then be sure to check out the Pypes Off-Road H-Pipe, right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Improves Flow For More Power. Add even more horsepower and torque to your 4.6L GT Mustang by eliminating those power robbing factory catalytic converters with a brand new Pypes Off Road H-Pipe. The Pypes off-road H-pipe will significantly improve your Mustang's exhaust flow for a notable increase in horsepower and torque.

Muscle Car Rumble. This free flowing Pypes h-pipe for the 2005 to 2010 Mustang GT not only increases power, but it also adds a deep muscle car rumble to the sound of your exhaust with its classic "H" crossover pipe design.

Modular Construction. Pypes unique three piece modular construction makes it quick and easy to add or remove catalytic converters to your exhaust system in just minutes, depending on your driving needs.

Durable Stainless Steel Construction. Pypes uses sturdy 16 gauge 409 stainless steel mandrel bent 2.5" tubing for improved exhaust flow and features welded reinforcement plates for additional strength.

Application. This Pypes Off-Road H-pipe is designed to be a direct bolt-on for the 2005 to 2010 4.6L GT Mustangs with either aftermarket short tube headers or the factory manifolds and a dual catback exhaust installed. Intended for off-road, track use only, does not include catalytic converters.

Will this work with stock tubing and after market axle backs? I want to install this in my brother's '08 GT. We want to buy an axle back kit and an off road H pipe and retain the remainder of the stock tubing. Is this possible?

    Jln5685

    • Sure, you can install this O/R H-pipe between your stock manifolds and the flow tubes that would attach to the GT axle-back of your choice. If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to give us a call!

Sound If I keep my factory cats in place and just install the h-pipe without the cat delete pipes, will the h-pipe still deepen my exhaust note and give my car more of the old school muscle car rumble that it is supposed to give?

    JoshCampo

    • You will notice a slight increase in sound with the better flowing mid pipe but your catalytic converters are really what is restricting the air flow and keeping the exhaust quiet. You will not see a real increase in volume or change in tone by just using the H pipe.

I have a 05 GT with stock headers and a Kooks cat-back exhaust. Will this Pypes mid pipe work with the setup that I have? If it does, do I need a tune?

    Estang

    • The Pypes Off-Road H-Pipe would work with this setup. A Tune would be required to disable toe cats and prevent P0430 and P0420 codes for catalyst efficiency

Adding/Removing Catalytic Converters I'd like to run this setup with the Pypes ceramic cats. However, I would like to be able to remove the cats from time to time. So here's my question(s): Just how easy is it to add/remove the cats? It seems like removing the catalytic converters would leave a gap in the exhaust system... wouldn't you need short straight-through pipes in their place?

    Preston

    • Yes, it would leave a gap, you would have to keep the additional pipe area (that was initially cut out) and clamp it back in to place with 2 clamps when the catalytics are not being used.

I have shorty jba headers with stock cat- backs on my 07 gt/CS with slp loudmoutb. Will these bolt on directly to my headers with no problem. Second question what can I use for the check engine light not to turn back on once install them.

    HENRYD

    • The Pypes Off-Road H-Pipe will work with the headers you have on your car now yes. As for the check engine light, a custom tuner like the Bama performance tune will turn these light off.

I did a dual conversion on my V6 mustang .. why won’t these fit my v6 mustang ... is it the 02 sensor location or the length of the pipe that might not align right ?

    EmontrayB

    • The Pypes Off-Road H-Pipe will work on the V6 models as long as you have the true dual conversion and thepiping is 2.5" in diameter.

      Nice and LOUD!!!

Pypez sound great in combination with aggressive over axle Corsa mufflers. Really wakes this thing up and the neighborhood. Tone is a little controlable under 2,000 rpm if worried about the police.

      Sounds absolutely evil!

Paired this with pypes mid muffler and pype bomb axlebacks and it sounds incredible! It's not so obnoxiously loud that my neighbors will hate me and I can still be relatively quiet if I want to but when you open it up it sounds evil! Install was a bit difficult for me but I was installing a full system from the manifolds back. It comes in 4 pieces which makes the install easier but lining it up much harder. I would recommend welding it together as the clamps will leak a tiny bit unless you get it perfect but they do a good enough job to not need it welded. The h-pipe gives it a deeper throaty growl and less rasp than the x-pipe and I've already had a few people compliment me on it after 3 days.

      Good quality at great price

You cannot beat the price of these pipes. There is better quality on the market but that does not mean these are bad by any stretch. For an exhaust pipe this totally gets the job done.

      So much louder!

I already had a Roush extreme cat-back exhaust and I thought it sounded really nice how it was. I put this on and wow it's night and day. It has such a deep muscle car sound that is music to your ears. I have an 05 gt and within an hour of installation some guy in a 5.0 pulled up next to me and asked immediately if I wanted to roll with him and some other 5.0's in the future. I would buy this again in a heart beat.

      Classic rumble!

I don't care what anyone tells me! The 3v sounds very similar to the 351w/1970s Mach 1 when cruising. The car rumbles and sounds extremely mean coming down the street. I have this Off road H paired up with JBA axlebacks (not the best) but they get the job done. Chambered mufflers sound good on these cars. Cops are not an issue.. as long as you are smart with it! Don't go WOT every chance you get. Unfortunately, I paid 150 for this install at a muffler shop. They welded everything together! I'm happy but my wallet was not.
