Eliminate Rear Blind-spots. Blind-spots can make backing up any vehicle dangerous, especially with small children and pets in the area, but now you can reduce blind-spots and improve your rear visibility by installing a Raxiom Auto-Dimming Mirror with Rear Camera Display in your car.

LCD Display Monitor. This Raxiom rear view mirror features an integrated 3.5" liquid crystal display (LCD) Monitor that when paired up with include backup camera shows a real-time panoramic view of the rear of the vehicle. The LCD display appears in the mirror automatically when the vehicle is shifted into "reverse" and disappears when the vehicle is shifted into any other gear.

Auto-Dimming. Using a built-in photo sensor that detects light from the vehicles traveling behind you, this innovative rear-view mirror automatically dims to reduce dangerous glare for safer nighttime driving.

Application. This Raxiom Auto-Dimming Rear-view Mirror with integrated Monitor and Backup Camera can easily be installed on any 2005 to 2014 Ford Mustang, including the V6, GT, Bullitt, BOSS and Shelby GT500 models. Available for SYNC and Non-SYNC systems - choose from drop down option above.

Ask a Question

Does the sync model keep the microphone contained to the mirror. Or does the microphone have to be hanging out of the headliner like some reviews say.

KevinP

  • Unfortunately, the Sync version does not keep the microphone in the mirror.

will this fit my 94 mustang gt

  • This is not compatible with the 1994 Mustang GT as the mirror is only compatible with the listed Mustang years.

I have the AM catalog for 94-98 gts and this is featured in it... So ill be able to install this in my 96 gt correct?

What is the difference between the sync and non-sync option? My 2013 was a base model, but I upgraded the interior to that of a premium car and installed sync as well. The only thing not changed over is the mirror and the overhead lights so I currently don't have a mic. Which would work better?

LouisR

  • Hello! The Sync option includes a harness that allows the Raxiom Auto-Dimming Rear View Mirror to work with vehicles equipped with sync. If your vehicle has sync, you should select the sync option.

Does the provided Guide work for a 2013 Mustang too? (Any change in the cable arrangement?)

Matt

  • The Raxiom Auto-Dimming Rear View Mirror w/ 3.5in Display and Camera (05-14 All) will work with all Mustangs within the year range of 2005 to 2014. You will just want to make sure you are selecting the correct option, in case your model came with the sync option.

    Decent, but not excellent

Difficult to install; professionals cracked the windshield removing the old mirror, even though we knew that was a risk. The installation instructions are limited, and not fully accurate for a convertible install. No user instructions at all. Only intermittently worked after install - apparently the wire indicated for use for power only intermittently provides power on backup - switched to a different wire and so far works all the time. I would expect for this cost that they had been able to preserve the compass feature in the mirror, but it doesn't - I did know that before the install though. The size of the screen is limited to the mirror (obviously) - a little small in use. Nonetheless, I still give it a 4 of 5 for convenience for use and safety when backing up.

    Very nice, one installed

After getting through the installation (which was a royal pain), this is an extremely nice product. The mirror appearance is high quality and the LCD display is very clear. The camera looks like it was made by Ford and blends in extremely well. Overall I'm quite pleased with this choice. The installation was a different story. BE VERY CAUTIOUS when removing the factory mirror! I ended up cracking my windshield without much pressure at all and had to replace it. The wiring diagram was frustrating as most of the wire colors didn't match my 2014 Mustang. Took some creativity, but I was able to make it work. I have 'sync', so the kit came with an extra microphone since this replacement mirror did not have an integrated mic. Wiring up the mic was a head scratcher. Instead of providing a nice plug adapter for the exiting wiring, you're expected to cram stripped wires into the existing harness. Seems like the mic was a complete afterthought. I worry that hitting a bump will dislodge the microphone someday.

    Camera broken

I had the camera and mirror professionally installed after hearing about how many windshields Ford broke trying to take off the mirror. That being said everything went smoothly until they went to activate the camera. They tested everything and it seems the camera was bad. I'm having the camera replaced for free however now I have to go back and pay the installers to take out the old camera and put in the new camera. So basically it added almost two weeks to the project and over $150 on extra costs because the camera came broken.

    Great addition

This camera works very well and displays a clear image. I will agree there is a surprise regarding the microphone. Regarding this detail, however, not all factory mirrors in the mustang have the microphone in the mirror (mine did not... It was in map light console). Therefore I didn't have to install accessory mic. So I do recommend checking what features your current mirror has, because you may be changing more than the mirror. It works great. Only thing that would be a nice difference is if the track lines turned with the direction of the wheels... But I suspect the wiring would be involved.

Good, but should disclose loss of functionality

A few months ago, I rented a car with a backup camera. When I got home from the business trip, I started researching mod kits for my '13 Escape and '11 Mustang to add that functionality. I have the Raxiom taillights for my Mustang, so this kit looked appealing. Does it work as described? Well, technically, yes. But what isn't mentioned anywhere in the product description is that this mirror differs from the factory mirror in that it's missing the built-in mic and compass. This kit comes with an external mic so that functionality isn't lost (just looks nasty with a mic hanging off the headliner) but the compass functionality is gone. My display that used to have the direction now just says -- I'm disappointed that Raxiom didn't include a compass or at least let me know that I'd lose compass functionality in my car. By the time I'd realized this, I was at the end of my install, had already drilled the hole in the bumper, etc, so uninstalling and returning wasn't really an option. Like I said, it does work as advertised.
