      Review & Installation Video

Hey, guys Stephanie with here with my review of the SR Performance Rear Shock Tower Brace in chrome for all 2005 to 2014 Mustangs. The SR Performance Rear Shock Tower Brace is a little piece of the suspension puzzle that can help to just tie everything together and take some flex out of the body and provide some good looks for the trunk. The shock tower brace is really just to reinforce the chassis. Taking any flex out of the body, even if it's only a little bit, can only be a good thing. Reducing some flex and giving some reinforcement here can help to improve traction, which means better and faster handling capabilities not just from a launch but also in the corners. Having crisp handling always makes for a more fun driving experience. Improved traction only means a quicker feeling car. You're definitely going to notice the shock tower brace any time you pop your trunk. The fact that this is a nice bright chrome brace is a nice feature. If you aren't really into the chrome look, SR Performance does offer the same brace in black as well. The black version's going to cost a little less, too. If you have a show car, the fact that these braces have a nice look in the trunk is just a plus. One thing to keep in mind here is that you won't notice a drastic change in handling from this brace alone. It does offer a little benefit, but it's not a night and day situation unless you do something like tie the brace into a cage. Then, you can expect a huge difference in rigidity. But like a lot of other suspension parts, a shock tower brace is only one component of the suspension. The improvements of the brace can be even more considerable when you start pairing it with other suspension mods. Once you start making other suspension upgrades, the shock tower brace will work to keep everything tied together and feeling tight and more stable. This means overall more consistent suspension no matter what you're doing with your car. As far as price, there's the difference between the chrome and black brace from SR Performance, but neither are going to break the bank. The chrome option costs just over $170 and the black version is about $25 less, so $150. If we move on to the install, this is an easy install that anyone is able to tackle by themselves in the driveway or the garage and should take less than an hour to complete. I'm going to call it a one out of three wrenches on the scale, but I will say that I've heard of some fitment issues with this brace. It will not fit the Stangs with the Shaker sound systems and there may be some modifications to make in order for the install to be completed. This is on top of the trunk liner that will need to be trimmed if you follow the instructions. As far as tools, you won't need anything crazy here, just a few wrenches and a blade for the cutting. The spare tire cover will need to be removed. Move the fabric covers out of the way so the nut and stud are showing on each side. Just loosen these on both sides and replace the spare tire cover and install the brace. It simply just slides over the studs. The flange nuts with rubber grommets go back onto the studs. This is where you might need to do some modification to get the brace to sit properly. You may need to bend some of the fingers on the brace to get it to fit right, but that's about it. The fabric covers can go back into place and you can cut some of the fabric away to allow for a better fit. It's really up to you. That's all it's going to take to get this installed. Wrapping things up here, the SR Performance Rear Shock Tower Brace works to take a little bit of the flexibility out of the body of the car and reinforce the chassis, which makes for better traction and improved handling. It works really well when tied into other suspension supports and it's very easy to install. You have a choice of chrome or black and you can check it out more online right here at

        Rear Tower Brace

Good product looks solid, shipping was fast but didn't come with all the bolts to put the middle plate on. I will buy from American Muscle again but I hope I can get all required parts next time.

        Game Changer!

Bought this with the front brace, both of them together make for a very pleasant handling experience. Took me a bit to put it on simply because I had to figure out how to get the bolts off without the entire strut spinning with them with my basic wrench set.

Took 20 minutes to install- easy

Install went well. I would say that the instructions are not completely accurate as the wrench size will be SAE not metric. At least in my case. Be prepared to check that.
