    Review & Install Video

Hey, guys. Stephanie with and I'm checking out this clutch pedal extension for 1994 and up manual Mustangs. This clutch pedal extension is perfect for the owners out there that are looking for some improved ergonomics but that want something a little bit higher quality than a plastic extension. Comfortable driving is essential, and I'm sure that many of us have tried to drive a manual Mustang in an uncomfortable position since we have to move the seat so far up to get a good feel for the engagement and disengagement of the clutch. This pedal extension moves the clutch pedal a whole one-and-a-half inch closer to the driver, which means a more comfortable driving position without altering the performance of your clutch, or having your knees hitting the steering wheel. Sometimes you need to move the seat so far forward to get a good feel for the clutch functionality, but it really becomes uncomfortable. Sitting so close to the dash is uncomfortable. You're oftentimes hitting your knees and it makes it more difficult to get in and out of the car. But even if you aren't vertically challenged, this extension is a little item that can make a big difference in a daily driver, too. It allows for a better seat position for a more comfortable drive. If you're on the taller side, this can help you out, too. So you can get far enough away from the dash and steering wheel. You can see right away that the pedal extension is low key and hardly detectable. It's a CNC machined billet aluminum construction, so it's going to be durable and have a long life, too. You don't have to worry about it failing or breaking on you during hard driving either. It also has a black anodized finish, which helps it to stay camouflaged on the pedal, so it's not going to be very noticeable in the car. It works with both the stock and aftermarket pedal pads. When it comes to price, this aluminum option from SR Performance isn't that much more expensive than the ABS plastic version that's also available as an alternative. This extension costs right about $60, which is only $10 more. $60 for an item that will have a large impact on a daily driver, I'd say that isn't bad at all. Another plus here is the very simple install of the pedal extension. The pedal extension comes complete with the two stainless steel screws that you'll need, and getting this installed should take you about 15 minutes total. The most difficult part of the install will be getting the extension to fit perfectly over the cover. It is a tight fit, but that's actually a good thing. You want it to be a tight fit so that it doesn't change pedal feel, and it allows the clutch to function properly. You can always use hot soapy water to help it get in the pedal or use the heat of the sun to keep the parts malleable. Overall, this clutch pedal extension is a very easy way to improve driving comfort for anyone without any permanent modifications. Very easy to install and it's inexpensive as well, even though it's made from a high quality billet aluminum that's anodized. If you've got a manual transmission Mustang, you can check this out more online for yourself right here at

Improves Driver Ergonomics. Improve the driving ergonomics of your manual equipped Ford Mustang with a SR Performance Clutch Pedal Extension for a much more comfortable seating position. This SR Performance Pedal Extension moves the clutch pedal 1.5" (40mm) closer to the driver so that you don't have to sit so far forward to fully engage/disengage your Mustangs clutch. This pedal extension will not affect your clutch's performance; it is only designed to improve driver comfort.

Superior Quality. CNC machined from aircraft quality 6061 billet aluminum for superior durability, this SR Performance Clutch Pedal Extension features a black anodized finish for long lasting corrosion resistance.

Application. This SR Performance Clutch Pedal Extension is designed to fit all 1994 to 2018 Mustangs equipped with a manual transmission, including the V6, EcoBoost, GT, Bullitt, Mach 1, SVT Cobra, BOSS, Shelby GT500 and Shelby GT350 models.

So, i received the sr performance billet, are you suppose to put this over your pedal or take the peddle off and then attached the billet clutch extension and then place your pedal on top? im a little confused as the customer photos seem to have the pedal on top of the extension.

    • With this Clutch Pedal Extension you will want to remove your clutch pedal, then install the extension, and lastly install your pedal cover over the extension.

Having some trouble installing this on my 2004 gt. The 2 halves seem like they wont make it over the curve. I have read that using a C-Clamp is working for some. Do you guys recommened i do that?

    • Thank you for your question about the SR Performance Billet Aluminum Clutch Pedal Extension (94-17 Manual). I would not recommend using a C-clamp initially to remedy your installation issue. I would suggest sending photos in to From there we should be able to determine if you may have a defective pedal extension and can replace it with another if necessary.

I have a 2016 gt with the Steeda pedal kit. Will the Steeda cover fit over the pedal extension.

    • The SR Performance Billet Aluminum Clutch Pedal Extension will allow fitment of most pedal covers that are designed for OEM pedals. We have not yet tested Steeda pedal covers for fitment with this extension, but it is expected to fit.

      Great product

Never knew how much a small inexpensive part could make a world of a difference, I am 5'7 on a good day. The clutch on my 2012 cyclone has to be pressed ALL the way down to the floor. I was very close to the steering wheel to do this. Installing this part has allowed me to slide my seat back (get some breathing room) and it feels like my shifting has gotten smoother because the pedal hits the floor now.

      Vertically challenged

This helps a lot! I mean, I no longer need to push my seat all the way to the front! I can now relax and really enjoy my ride. I love it! Worth every penny.

      Perfect pedal travel, poor fit

While I want to give this 5 stars, it gets 4 people of NVH and slight wobble on the pedal as it must not be a perfect fit. I found that the aluminum rattled on the stock pedal after installation (I followed CJ instructions, much easier). To cure this I ended up removing the bolts, prying “clam shell” open and shoving some new heat shrink between the extension and the original pedal. This removed the NVH and the slight wobble I noticed. Otherwise this is great!

      Sr clutch pedal extension

Easy install, hardest part is getting the factory rubber pad back over the extension, start at the top and use a flat head screwdriver and work your way around clockwise prying the rubber over the lip of the extension. Love how I dont have to sit so far forward and makes it easier to fully engage the clutch. Definitely recommend to everyone short and tall.

      Very useful

I'm 5'7", so I had to sit with the seat basically all the way forward to get a good full extend of the clutch. This became very uncomfortable. The extension of 1.5 inches literally made a world of difference. My knees don't hit anything, the steering wheel isn't in my chest, and the ride is a lot less stressful. Install was incredibly easy as well, maybe 20 minutes at most. Definitely worth the buy if you're short.

      Does not fit

Doesn’t fit the pedal on my 2003 GT I’d have to grind the bottom of the pedal which I’m not doing.

My mechanic said was not billet aluminum

My mechanic said was not billet aluminum but a cheap die cast part made from recycled beer cans. He also said it would not fit without cutting the bottom off my clutch pedal and to return it which I did. There is also another part made at CJ Pony Parts that fits without modifications, I ordered it and my mechanic installed it on my GT500.

      Great product, didn't quite fit

I'm cursed with the 5'1" height so in my stang I was alright with learning, and driving, but I wasn't comfortable in the spot I could have the seat at. If I was too close, my knees rubbed, and I couldn't really move to hit the brakes. I removed the carpets the previous person put it in now too, but I bought this in hopes it would help, it certainly feels much better, and feels like I have more control. However, I think AM needs to make it bigger, because like a couple of people I also needed a clamp in order to full get it to slide into place. I recommend it to shorter drivers for sure, but just prepare that it may not come off easy.

      SR clutch pedal extension.

Great item. Always had problems reaching the clutch on my 2005 Saleen. I’m average height about 5’8”. Always felt seat had to be too close to steering wheel to operate clutch. Now it’s more natural position. Plus it gives me better leverage it’s easier to drive in stop and go traffic and I can launch another too. Taking off in fist gear smoothly with this supercharged car with cams was not easy before.

Hard to get the Extension itself on the pedal.

Great product. Does what its supposed to do. For me it was just hard to get the extension on the pedal because the cut out was slightly to small.

Great product, easy 10 min installation

I was hesitant to purchase this product after reading the negative reviews. I glad I did purchase it. Assume addition to my Mustang. Much more comfortable riding position. It took me 10 minutes to install. I used a short flat blade screw driver from the rear to pry off the OEM rubber pad, start at the bottom of the pad. Installed the OEM rubber pad on the extension before installing on the clutch pedal. Pulled the 2 halves of the pedal extension apart and installed of the clutch pedal. Installed bolts and done. I did not need to modify either the clutch pedal or the pedal extension. GREAT PRODUCT!!!!!!

      A little pricey, but works!

I definitely have a much better feel and was able to move my seat back a littler further away from the steering wheel. Feels like a good quality piece. Took me about 20 minutes to install. Check out the CJ pony parts video on youtube for install instructions. I think it's a little better than AM's video.

      Great solution....

My wife needed this so that she could drive our Mustang. I was concerned that it was going to force me into an exaggerated lift of my left leg to get to the clutch. She installed it (it's that easy) while I was on a business trip and didn't tell me. When I got in to drive the car, I didn't even know the pedal had changed. So, it's big enough that it allows her to slide her seat back a bit (so she's not wedged against the steering wheel), but it's not so large that it's noticeable to people like me. And it looks like the rest of the pedals. Win, win, win.
