Hey, guys. Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com and I'm checking out this clutch pedal extension for 1994 and up manual Mustangs. This clutch pedal extension is perfect for the owners out there that are looking for some improved ergonomics but that want something a little bit higher quality than a plastic extension. Comfortable driving is essential, and I'm sure that many of us have tried to drive a manual Mustang in an uncomfortable position since we have to move the seat so far up to get a good feel for the engagement and disengagement of the clutch. This pedal extension moves the clutch pedal a whole one-and-a-half inch closer to the driver, which means a more comfortable driving position without altering the performance of your clutch, or having your knees hitting the steering wheel. Sometimes you need to move the seat so far forward to get a good feel for the clutch functionality, but it really becomes uncomfortable. Sitting so close to the dash is uncomfortable. You're oftentimes hitting your knees and it makes it more difficult to get in and out of the car. But even if you aren't vertically challenged, this extension is a little item that can make a big difference in a daily driver, too. It allows for a better seat position for a more comfortable drive. If you're on the taller side, this can help you out, too. So you can get far enough away from the dash and steering wheel. You can see right away that the pedal extension is low key and hardly detectable. It's a CNC machined billet aluminum construction, so it's going to be durable and have a long life, too. You don't have to worry about it failing or breaking on you during hard driving either. It also has a black anodized finish, which helps it to stay camouflaged on the pedal, so it's not going to be very noticeable in the car. It works with both the stock and aftermarket pedal pads. When it comes to price, this aluminum option from SR Performance isn't that much more expensive than the ABS plastic version that's also available as an alternative. This extension costs right about $60, which is only $10 more. $60 for an item that will have a large impact on a daily driver, I'd say that isn't bad at all. Another plus here is the very simple install of the pedal extension. The pedal extension comes complete with the two stainless steel screws that you'll need, and getting this installed should take you about 15 minutes total. The most difficult part of the install will be getting the extension to fit perfectly over the cover. It is a tight fit, but that's actually a good thing. You want it to be a tight fit so that it doesn't change pedal feel, and it allows the clutch to function properly. You can always use hot soapy water to help it get in the pedal or use the heat of the sun to keep the parts malleable. Overall, this clutch pedal extension is a very easy way to improve driving comfort for anyone without any permanent modifications. Very easy to install and it's inexpensive as well, even though it's made from a high quality billet aluminum that's anodized. If you've got a manual transmission Mustang, you can check this out more online for yourself right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Improves Driver Ergonomics. Improve the driving ergonomics of your manual equipped Ford Mustang with a SR Performance Clutch Pedal Extension for a much more comfortable seating position. This SR Performance Pedal Extension moves the clutch pedal 1.5" (40mm) closer to the driver so that you don't have to sit so far forward to fully engage/disengage your Mustangs clutch. This pedal extension will not affect your clutch's performance; it is only designed to improve driver comfort.

Superior Quality. CNC machined from aircraft quality 6061 billet aluminum for superior durability, this SR Performance Clutch Pedal Extension features a black anodized finish for long lasting corrosion resistance.

Application. This SR Performance Clutch Pedal Extension is designed to fit all 1994 to 2017 Mustangs equipped with a manual transmission, including the V6, EcoBoost, GT, Bullitt, Mach 1, SVT Cobra, BOSS, Shelby GT500 and Shelby GT350 models.

Perfect!

I'm only 5'1 and this helped so I could put the seat back a couple inches. Otherwise I felt like I was right on top of the steering wheel. Even my husband says it helps him sit more comfortably.

So, i received the sr performance billet, are you suppose to put this over your pedal or take the peddle off and then attached the billet clutch extension and then place your pedal on top? im a little confused as the customer photos seem to have the pedal on top of the extension.

  • With this Clutch Pedal Extension you will want to remove your clutch pedal, then install the extension, and lastly install your pedal cover over the extension.

I have a 2016 gt with the Steeda pedal kit. Will the Steeda cover fit over the pedal extension.

MelissaM

  • The SR Performance Billet Aluminum Clutch Pedal Extension will allow fitment of most pedal covers that are designed for OEM pedals. We have not yet tested Steeda pedal covers for fitment with this extension, but it is expected to fit.

Having some trouble installing this on my 2004 gt. The 2 halves seem like they wont make it over the curve. I have read that using a C-Clamp is working for some. Do you guys recommened i do that?

  • Thank you for your question about the SR Performance Billet Aluminum Clutch Pedal Extension (94-17 Manual). I would not recommend using a C-clamp initially to remedy your installation issue. I would suggest sending photos in to support@americanmuscle.com. From there we should be able to determine if you may have a defective pedal extension and can replace it with another if necessary.

    Perfect Solution

Great product, perfect quality and Fit, Quick and easy install. I've never been comfortable in my Pony until now. Was difficult getting in or out causing wear on side of seat back.. To use Clutch properly had to have seat forward to an uncomfortable position. Took about 10 minutes to install, the fit and alignment were perfect. Most time spent was finding Allen wrench and heating water to soften and reinstall OEM Clutch Pad, once pad was warm it went on easy. Would have taken less time if an Allen wrench had been included in package. Being able to move seat back a little makes huge difference both in comfort and getting in and out of car. This extension is a must for anyone not comfortable in their Pony and Well worth every cent spent.

Fit perfectly in my mustang gt 2000, but need a c-clamp. Strong aluminum built and very better seat position. I'm 5'6 and now it's perfect.

    Install advice: Use a C-clamp

The sitting position in my 98 Mustang GT convertible is just weird. My head hits the headliner. My knees are too close to the steering wheel and the dash. I'm 5'10" and I really like the sitting position in my 06 GT, but the 98 is just awkward. Well, It was awkward. This clutch pedal extension allows me to slide the seat back which also drops my sitting height. This product is pricey at $60 but it is worth it. I was initially worried that this product would wiggle loose and become a hazard. Then I tried installing the product and I realized it was going to be an incredibly tight fit and I most likely could never remove it. Pro tip: Use a C-clamp to press the two halves together around the pedal. I was about to start filing the product and the pedal down in order to make it fit and then I had a thought about using a C-clamp. It worked like a charm.

    Ended up not needing it

It ended up being a pain to reinstall the pedal cover which made this take forever. If you are patient and short you may be able to use this though. But for me it made the release way to high.

Clutch Pedal Extension A MUST HAVE

If you are like me and can never seem to get a comfortable setting of the driver seat this clutch pedal extension is a must have. It fully enable you to not have your knees hitting the dashboard while still being able to push the clutch fully all the way. I am 5'9'' and this simple addition to my pony cockpit changed my life.

    Great quality, but...

Although I bought this for its durability, which I felt plastic version would not, this does not totally encapsulate my clutch pedal. It takes some work to wedge the left side of the extension, whereas I feel the plastic would be more malleable to fit perfectly. I eventually got it wedged on. Perhaps this product is "one size fits all", but not 100.

    Suprisingly worthwhile

Added this to make driving in rush hour traffic jams more tolerable. It went on easily in about 10 minutes. I put the extension on the pedal first then fitted the pedal pad. Since our 98 Cobra had new, pliable pedal pads and the temperature here in Hawaii is warm the pad went on easily. This extension makes holding the clutch in slow moving traffic jams easier on the leg and allows a better seat position for driving. A little item that makes a big difference in a daily driver!

Raise your foot a little higher

I was curious about the PVC plastic extension that was first available, but just could not see spending more than $40 for it. The aluminum model is a beauty and it is solid. I had to spend a couple of minutes filling the lower end and corners of the clutch pedal before the 2 halves would fit and sink together. The screw holes lined-up perfectly. The extension allows for moving the seat back which makes entering and exiting the cockpit easier. If there is any drawback, you simply need to remember to raise your left foot a little higher to clutch. After a day or two, it becomes second nature.

    Aluminum Clutch Extension

The clutch pedal extension is a great buy. Price is resonable. I am 5',7" and the positioning of the drivers seat is very uncomfortable with out this. I had to have the seat so far forward my right knee was hitting the dash and my keys. It corrected my position and makes it much more comfortable, especially on the longer cruises.

    Dream to Drive!

It was becoming a nuisance to always have to move my seat to get in and out of my 2006 GT convertible. Plus having to drive closer to the wheel, so I could engage the clutch wasn't comfortable for the accelerator. However the clutch pedal extension is a dream!! It's fun and comfortable to drive again!! It is an easy install, with the hardest part being the re-install of your of the clutch pad cover. I highly recommend a bowl of hot soapy water to make it more plyable and to help it slide back on! A must buy!!! I LOVE IT!!!

Now I can comfortably drive this car!

I'm not to short per say.. I'm 5.9" so I'm avatar in height but my knees are usually to close to the dash to feel a good position in the clutch so I bought it and let me tell you.. On this car Ford should of corrected this issue.. Now I can drive in a more relax fashion... Unless you have super long legs this is a must if you want a comfortable feeling while driving.. I would buy it again... Love driving the car now after 2 years of unconfort!!

    Great piece!

Im 5'7" the gas and brake pedal on my 2011GT/CS are in a good position, but the clitch pedal was abit too far away so I had to position myself too close to the steeringwheel. So this clutch prdal extension was the perfect answer. With the original pedal pd back on you dont even know its there. Thanks AMM!

Don't feel like a little old man anymore

This is awesome! The extender only adds 1.5" but I was able to move my seat back comfortably close to 3 inches, maybe a little more. I had been looking at the plastic version that's been available for a while but had some concerns about durability. I'm sure it's a good product but when I found this one for only a few dollars more the decision was easy. Install is simple with the expected difficulties of getting the pedal cover on, but hey you don't want that thing falling off while your driving.

    Just Right!

I've been driving my 2014 GT for over a week now with the SR billet pedal extension installed, it felt a little weird at first, but now it is just right, perfect! I don't know why Ford didn't configure the pedal location like this in the first place. The billet aluminum pieces fit the old petal and mated together perfectly. Don't get the plastic one, although it may be just fine also, but this part is 100 quality for not much more money. Good job SR performance!

    2005 Mustang GT

I just installed the clutch pedal extension this weekend and what a difference it made. Much more comfortable and I can put the seat back quite a bit further and still reach the pedal. Just sorry I didn't do it sooner. I'm no mechanic and it took 5 minutes to put it on. I am 6'1" and it's so much nicer now to drive. Thanks AM

    Driving with ease

Being under 5'5 can pose a problem driving any car, however, it is even more so in Manuel transmission vehicles. I if your like me you hate having to be so close up, and that's why you looking for something like this. I can assure you it is the best $60.00 ever spent. Driving relaxed is driving in style
