    Review & Install Video

Hey, guys. Stephanie with and I'm checking out this clutch pedal extension for 1994 and up manual Mustangs. This clutch pedal extension is perfect for the owners out there that are looking for some improved ergonomics but that want something a little bit higher quality than a plastic extension. Comfortable driving is essential, and I'm sure that many of us have tried to drive a manual Mustang in an uncomfortable position since we have to move the seat so far up to get a good feel for the engagement and disengagement of the clutch. This pedal extension moves the clutch pedal a whole one-and-a-half inch closer to the driver, which means a more comfortable driving position without altering the performance of your clutch, or having your knees hitting the steering wheel. Sometimes you need to move the seat so far forward to get a good feel for the clutch functionality, but it really becomes uncomfortable. Sitting so close to the dash is uncomfortable. You're oftentimes hitting your knees and it makes it more difficult to get in and out of the car. But even if you aren't vertically challenged, this extension is a little item that can make a big difference in a daily driver, too. It allows for a better seat position for a more comfortable drive. If you're on the taller side, this can help you out, too. So you can get far enough away from the dash and steering wheel. You can see right away that the pedal extension is low key and hardly detectable. It's a CNC machined billet aluminum construction, so it's going to be durable and have a long life, too. You don't have to worry about it failing or breaking on you during hard driving either. It also has a black anodized finish, which helps it to stay camouflaged on the pedal, so it's not going to be very noticeable in the car. It works with both the stock and aftermarket pedal pads. When it comes to price, this aluminum option from SR Performance isn't that much more expensive than the ABS plastic version that's also available as an alternative. This extension costs right about $60, which is only $10 more. $60 for an item that will have a large impact on a daily driver, I'd say that isn't bad at all. Another plus here is the very simple install of the pedal extension. The pedal extension comes complete with the two stainless steel screws that you'll need, and getting this installed should take you about 15 minutes total. The most difficult part of the install will be getting the extension to fit perfectly over the cover. It is a tight fit, but that's actually a good thing. You want it to be a tight fit so that it doesn't change pedal feel, and it allows the clutch to function properly. You can always use hot soapy water to help it get in the pedal or use the heat of the sun to keep the parts malleable. Overall, this clutch pedal extension is a very easy way to improve driving comfort for anyone without any permanent modifications. Very easy to install and it's inexpensive as well, even though it's made from a high quality billet aluminum that's anodized. If you've got a manual transmission Mustang, you can check this out more online for yourself right here at

Improves Driver Ergonomics. Improve the driving ergonomics of your manual equipped Ford Mustang with a SR Performance Clutch Pedal Extension for a much more comfortable seating position. This SR Performance Pedal Extension moves the clutch pedal 1.5" (40mm) closer to the driver so that you don't have to sit so far forward to fully engage/disengage your Mustangs clutch. This pedal extension will not affect your clutch's performance; it is only designed to improve driver comfort.

Superior Quality. CNC machined from aircraft quality 6061 billet aluminum for superior durability, this SR Performance Clutch Pedal Extension features a black anodized finish for long lasting corrosion resistance.

So, i received the sr performance billet, are you suppose to put this over your pedal or take the peddle off and then attached the billet clutch extension and then place your pedal on top? im a little confused as the customer photos seem to have the pedal on top of the extension.

Having some trouble installing this on my 2004 gt. The 2 halves seem like they wont make it over the curve. I have read that using a C-Clamp is working for some. Do you guys recommened i do that?

    • Thank you for your question about the SR Performance Billet Aluminum Clutch Pedal Extension (94-17 Manual). I would not recommend using a C-clamp initially to remedy your installation issue. I would suggest sending photos in to From there we should be able to determine if you may have a defective pedal extension and can replace it with another if necessary.

I'm having difficulty removing the clutch pedal cover, any tips? I was not given instructions with the part

    • The factory clutch pedal cover is installed on the clutch assembly with adhesive so it can be a bit tricky to get get off. We recommend using a heat gun to heat the cover up slightly which will break down some of the adhesive materiel underneath. Once warm to the touch, pry upwards on the pedal cover (Patience is needed) and should slowly lift away from the assembly.

I have a 2016 gt with the Steeda pedal kit. Will the Steeda cover fit over the pedal extension.

    • The SR Performance Billet Aluminum Clutch Pedal Extension will allow fitment of most pedal covers that are designed for OEM pedals. We have not yet tested Steeda pedal covers for fitment with this extension, but it is expected to fit.

Easy to install, clutch pedal reinstall cover was a little tricky but I’m tenacious. Made it easier to shift.

      Great product.

It is a far greater joy to drive my Stang with the seat slid back. It feels like the extended clutch pedal is flush with the gas pedal so my knees are not bent desparately.

Nicely Made Part That May Help

I will begin by saying that the part is beautifully made, easy to install, and fit perfectly. A little hot soapy water and the pad went right back on. Just soak the pad in the hot water for a few minutes and don't use too much soap, a few drops of Dawn will do. As for function it is of marginal benefit for improving the less than favorable ergos of the Mustang pedal arrangement. I think the geometry of the part could be tweaked a bit for further improvement. I am 5 ft. 9 in. tall.

      Prepare to be discouraged!

No way will the older Billet clutch covers fit over this.! (2003 Cobra SVT) Old rubber too stiff. After an hour, gave up and trimmed the rubber with a knife and glued to the extension with contracters glue. Does what it is meant to do but expect a hassle!

Just what I needed for my road race build. I used them on the brake and clutch pedal so I could move my seat all the way back against the cage for better weight bias. Worked perfectly.

      Total waste of $60

If it was possible to give this ZERO stars I would. God help you (and He won't with this product) if the pedal is the slightest micrometer off from the machining of the aluminum. I expected better of American Muscle as I've been happy with every other product but they missed the mark by a million miles with this overpriced paperweight

      Extension for the win

This product alone as it sits is a very well built piece that gives you confidence that it will not fall off at all! Top notch quality. This extension alone does just that... it extends the clutch pedal so a short or tall person can ride more comfortably. Great product and the first mod I have done to my 18 GT!

      Quality product, pedal re-install horrible.

Received the product and installation of the billet pedal extension was easy. Re-installing the clutch pedal was a nightmare. Took over an hour prying and trying to work it over the extension. Forget soap and hot water, doesn't work. For future buyers, cut the lip off the pedal and gorilla glue the pedal to the extension. It will save you time in re-painting the extension where you scratched it while trying to pry the pedal back on.

Fit perfectly, makes a big difference.

You can file this one under, "You don't know what you're missing." Being able to scoot the seat back just about 1.75" makes a big, big difference. My advice is to place the existing pad on the extension and THEN place the extension on the pedal by using a clamshell-like opening and closing method. Worked for me!

      Great choice for shorter drivers.

I'm 5' 7", 30" inseam, and this extension for my clutch pedal really helped me to be able to distance myself from the steering wheel.

Not just for short legged drivers

Due to the long throw of the clutch pedal, my short legged 5'4" wife had to sit uncomfortably close to the wheel. On the other hand, I'm a lanky 6'1" and like my arms stretched out behind the wheel, but also like the front of the seat cushion angled up for lots of lower thigh support. Without a telescoping steering column, I couldn't slide the seat back as far as I liked with the seat cushion angled up as much as I like and comfortably stretch my leg all the way out to depress the clutch pedal. This mod solved both of our problems. Sure, it took a little getting used to not having the clutch pedal even with the brake, but we got used to within a day. This unit is more sturdy than the plastic ones and feels factory solid. Though, it is more difficult to install. Unlike the plastic units, I could not install the pedal cover off of the car and then snap the unit into place on the pedal; the aluminum is just not pliable like the plastic. So, yes, it is more difficult to install the aluminum and rubber pedal cover over the unit when installed on the car, but not impossible. Overall, it is worth the extra effort for a solid factory feel.

Easy Install and a great result!

5 minutes is all it took to install the Pedal Extension, helped by the American Muscle video suggestion to install the pad over the extension BEFORE re-installing on the clutch. The other thing that helped was that the base Mustang has an all-rubber clutch pedal pad as opposed to the Premium Level Stang whose pad is surrounded in metal. A little dish soap on the inside of the rubber pad and it popped easily on both sides of the extension halves. For a shorter human driving the manual transmission, this Extension makes all the difference in the world with seating adjustments!

      Clutch Pedal Rxtension

Awesome billet clutch pedal extension. Very easy install! Take your clutch pedal pad off. On a work bench or similar area, mount the clutch pedal pad to the two halves of the extension. Put screws in but do not tighten all the way. Take the assembly back to your Mustang, then put one side onto the clutch pedal and pry apart the open end of the two billet pieces as you pull the other one onto the opposite side of the clutch pedal. The clutch pedal pad should keep it from coming apart as you pull it into place. Tighten the screws and you’re done! Huge improvement in driving enjoyment, and my wife can drive the car now without sitting so close to the steering wheel! Very fast delivery time from AM, nicely packaged, and a quality piece!

Really smart idea and it take pressure off my knee

I installed it in about 15 minutes. Getting the pad back on was not easy but with a little elbow grease and a lot of swearing, i got it to go on. I think the key is to start from the bottom and work your way around and finally up over the top

My wife is 5'7" and had trouble with pushing the pedal all way down to start the engine. I put the extension on and no problems she can set the seat back so her knees don't hit the dash. She is very happy with the car now.

Without the clutch extension, I had to move my seat back and forth to get in/out of the car every time. Now, I have my seat set to my liking and don't have to move it. The clutch extension along with the Steeda Clutch Spring Kit are a must for any S550 Mustang owner.

      SR Billet clutch pedal extension.

I installed the SR clutch pedal extension on my 2013 GT, I love the solid feel of it when engaging it compared to the stock, I do have short legs so now I can sit back away from steering wheel and not have to extend my left leg fully anymore, I will tell you when installing, take old pedal off first and then lubricate the extension with dish soap around grove where the old pedal will sit, take the extension apart and install one side first, then the other or you will have a very hard time getting it on if your pedal is metal. Then install the extension onto the clutch lever and bolt it on.
