Justin: Hey, everyone. Justin here with americanmuscle.com, and today we're gonna be breaking down and installing the SR Performance Caster Camber Plates, available for all '99 to '04 Mustangs at home. Now, you guys should be checking out these American-made camber plates if you're looking for a high-quality yet very affordable billet option that will offer all of the camber and caster adjustment needed to get your Mustang dialed in properly. So, your big feature here will be the amount of adjustment possible out of the relatively affordable options. In fact, up to six degrees of total adjustment in either direction, which, let's be honest, should be more than enough to dial in your optimal alignment. Now, this could be whether you're going for maybe a stock spec or stock alignment after lowering, or, possibly going with an aggressive front end setup, for things like road racing or drifting. Now, whatever the case, these options from SR will help get you there, without a doubt. Now, the SR plates are gonna be compatible with both your stock or aftermarket struts, but will not be compatible with most aftermarket coilovers, as those typically incorporate their own version or style of an upper strut mount. Now, your construction is gonna be very solid. Again, these made-in-the USA options are going to incorporate that quality CNC billet aluminum build. The SR performance options are also gonna utilize that popular three-bolt design that you'll find with a lot of the other aftermarket options in the category as well. And then, as you can see, finally, finished off in a sleek, kind of, metallic, gunmetal gray color here. There is a subtle SR logo engraved on the top, just for added style points. Now, price point is gonna live in that mid to high $100 range here, which makes these one of the more affordable options in the category, by a pretty wide margin, because you got other options, like the Maximum Motorsports or J&N options. They're gonna come up about 100 bucks more than the SR Performance options here, and still pack a lot of the similar features. So, again, if you're going for a more budget-friendly option, certainly worth a consideration. Now, install, according to the site, it's gonna get a soft 3 out of 3 wrenches on the difficulty meter here. They're calling it four hours to complete from start to finish. Some of you guys might get it knocked out a bit quicker, depending on your mechanical know-how. Now, obviously, regardless whoever installs these things, you're gonna wanna take your New Edge to get an alignment after the install is complete, just to make sure everything looks good and everything is in spec. But now, what do you say we head out to the shop, check out our detailed walkthrough and tool breakdown?Man: For this install, you will need air and electric impacts, a drill, a 3/16 to quarter-inch drill bit, a ratchet, small extension, 8-millimeter Allen head socket, 15 and 17 and 21-millimeter sockets, as well as a jack and jack stands. What's up, guys. Today we're gonna be installing some camber plates on our Mustang, so let's get started. So, to start things off, your factory plates are gonna have these two locator rivets on them, and we're gonna wanna drill those out, so we can unbolt our plates and get those off. So, we're gonna grab around a quarter-inch drill bit, could be plus or minus that, just something that is bigger than the opening of the rivet, so we can drill our head out. So, we'll grab our drill bit and our drill, go ahead and get these off. Popped the head off that one. We'll do the same thing for this one. All right. Get rid of any metal shavings you may have. You don't want those laying around. So now, we do have our front wheel off, and we have a floor jack under the lower control arm, to support our right-side suspension here. So, we can go ahead and remove our top nut from our strut, and get everything off of here, so we can access our plate. So, we're gonna grab our 21-millimeter socket on our impact, and run our nut off. Now, if you are using hand tools, you wanna use a 21-millimeter wrench, as well as a large flathead, to go ahead and hold your shock in position, so it doesn't spin with the nut. This should overcome it. Okay. Now that we have that nut off, we'll go ahead and remove our top washer, and our bushing and spacer as well. So now, we're gonna go ahead and remove our nuts on our studs and our bolt for our factory plate. So, we'll grab our 15-mill socket on our impact, and get these off. And then, once you remove your third one, you're gonna wanna reach under and catch the nut plate from the factory setup here. Okay. Make sure that doesn't go anywhere. We'll go ahead and remove our plate. So, now we're gonna go ahead and lower our floor jack down enough so that the top of our shock stud here comes down just far enough so we can get our factory lower plate over it, and get it out of the way. You just wanna keep an eye on your lines here, and make sure nothing's being overly stressed. [inaudible 00:05:39] check your progress here. Looks like we need to get it lower. Now, if you find you need a little extra help, and you are on factory shocks, it's gonna be pretty easy to compress your factory shock, get it out of the way, so you can go ahead and remove your factory plate. You just wanna make sure you get your shock back lined up into the hole. So now, once you've got this complete for this side, you can go ahead and repeat these same steps for the other side. So, now we're ready to start going on with our new camber plate. So, first, since our vehicle is a stock ride height vehicle, there's no need to put our smaller or larger bushings on our strut. Now we're gonna install the correct bushing for a factory ride height vehicle. Once we have that on, can go ahead and get our plate in place. Get our bolt holes lined up. Now, this is gonna move, because obviously, there's nothing holding it. Now we can go ahead and get our stud plate up into place. Get that fished up through here. Get this up into position. We'll get this up into position, make sure it doesn't fall. We'll go ahead and add our supplied washers, 15-millimeter lock nuts. Once you have one on, should be good. All right. So, we're gonna leave those hand-tight for now, so we can get everything kind of in adjustment. And what we're gonna do is push our shock mount roughly to the center, as well as our plate here. Then we're gonna-hand tighten our caster adjustments. This will help hold everything a little bit more in place. So now, we'll go ahead and use our floor jack and raise our top mounting stud back up through our new plate here. Okay. So, then we can go ahead and add our small bushing here, and go ahead and reinstall our factory nut. Then we're gonna go ahead and tighten this down. That'll pull everything back up. Then we can tighten down everything else. So, we'll go ahead and tighten this down. So now, we'll tighten down our mounting nuts, using our 17-mill socket on our impact. So now, we'll go ahead and tighten down our caster bolts, using our 8-millimeter Allen head socket and extension on our ratchet. And remember, you always wanna refer to the manufacturer torque spec for all of your hardware. So, once you've got this done for this side, you can go ahead and repeat these same steps on the other side. Now, one thing to mention with these is, if you want to adjust your camber, you're gonna adjust your nuts here. You're gonna loosen those up, inside or out. That's gonna adjust your camber. The Allen head bolts, forward and back, is going to adjust your caster. Now, while these do provide you with a lot more ability to tweak your alignment the way you want, you should definitely take this to a shop, put it on an alignment machine, and have it professionally aligned, to make sure everything is in spec, everything is good to go, once you've completed this job.All righty, guys. That about wraps up our review and install of our SR Performance Caster and Camber Plates, in Gun Metal Finish, for your '94 to '04 Mustang. Thanks for watching, and as always, for everything Mustang, keep it right here at americanmuscle.com.
