Hey, guys. It's Sara with americanmuscle.com. And today, we have a review and install of the C&L Muffler Delete Axle-Back Exhaust with polished tips fitting your '18 to '20 GT without the active exhaust. This is perfect for the Mustang owner who wants to get the most sound out of their exhaust while still saving some money over a full exhaust system. It boasts a very loud and aggressive exhaust note thanks to the muffler delete design of this axle-back. This exhaust feature stainless steel construction with mandrel-bent tubing and dual polished stainless steel tips. I'm giving this a strong four out of five on the loudness meter because of the muffler deletes at the back, you do get an absolute ton more sound than factory. Now, the only reason I'm not giving it a five is because it retains the factory resonator in the center, so it's not quite a straight pipe system. However, there is a ton of sound coming out of this axle-back. This is perfect for the Mustang owner who wants to get the most out of an axle-back system. So, as far as price goes, this one comes in at around $250, making it a budget-friendly way to get the most out of your exhaust without going for a full exhaust system. I'm giving this install a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. It does require some cutting of your factory exhaust to slip the pipes of this axle-back over top, but it can be done within two hours. So, with that said, let's jump into our install. For this install, you will need an impact gun or a ratchet, a 15-millimeter socket, a sharpie or other permanent marker, eye protection. You may want a rubber mallet, you'll need a reciprocating saw or other cutting tools, and you may want an exhaust hanger removal tool. All right. So once you have your Mustang in the air, either on the lift or jack stands, we're going to mark our spot on the exhaust and we're going to make our cut. Now, you can take this entire exhaust off and cut it separately, but I think it's a little bit easier to cut it on the car and it don't actually need to come off, so we can do it right on the car. Let's grab a sharpie and make our mark. All right. So, we're going to cut right after this 90-degree bend. You want to make sure that you're cutting in the straight section and you want to give yourself as much as the straight section as you can for the exhaust to clamp onto. So, our mark is going to go right at the end of the 90-degree bend and the beginning of this straight here. So, right about this area. You can get a straight edge if you want to be more precise. All right. Once our mark is made, we're grabbing our reciprocating saw and we're going to make our cut. Try to make sure your cut is as straight as you possibly can so your exhaust can slide over the pipe nicely. All right. At this point, we're going to remove the large muffler now that it is off the exhaust, we're going to take it out of the hanger here. If you don't want to take it out of the hanger, you can remove the 2 13-millimeter bolts that hold the higher bracket on there. We're going to use one of these hanger tools to just push the post out of the rubber hanger itself.Okay. Now, we can repeat that process on the other side. Again, we're going for the end of the 90. We're gonna make a mark as straight as we can all the way around. Just try to keep our cut as straight as possible. All right. Now, we can grab our saw and make our cut. I don't know if I said before, but make sure you're using the proper safety equipment. And you might want to grab a friend to put a hand on the muffler as you're cutting. So, go ahead and make your cut. All right. Go ahead and take your muffler out. Again, if you have a second set of hands here, could be helpful. Just make sure you're careful as it's gonna fall as soon as it's loose. All right. So, now that we have our factory exhaust cut off of our Mustang, we can check it out side by side with our C&L exhaust. Now, the biggest difference here as you can probably tell is that the large factory muffler is replaced with a straight pipe section on our C&L exhaust. This is where you're going to get that loud aggressive sound from, as you can imagine, it's a big difference going from the large factory muffler to a straight pipe section. In addition, they've included dual polished stainless steel tips, which are longer and a bit larger than your factory tips. So, with that said, let's finish up our install. All right. Now, before we slide our exhaust on, just take a look at your cut, make sure there's no burrs or anything left over so it'll slide over nicely. Go ahead and slide your clamp into place. Slide your exhaust into the hanger. Line up your piping. Make sure you slide it all the way on so there's not a gap at all in the opening. All right. Line up your clamp over top of your piping. And you want this opening section here to be about 90 degrees out of that slot so that you get the best possible clamp and you don't get an exhaust leak. Grab a 15-millimeter socket and tighten it down. Repeat that process on the other side. If you can't close up this gap by wiggling your exhaust on, you can grab a rubber mallet and just gently tap at the back here, that should close it up. Line up your clamp. Same as the other side, about 90 degrees from this cutout. Grab your 15-millimeter socket, tighten it down. All right. So, that is going to do it for the review and install of this C&L exhaust. And remember for all things Mustang, keep it at americanmuscle.com.
