    Review & Install Video

Hey guys, Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com, here with this SR Performance Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe, available for 2015 and up GT Mustangs. This Resonator Delete X-Pipe from SR Performance is going to be for the S550 GT owners out there that are looking to increase the sound level of their car quickly and without necessarily having to spring for an entirely new exhaust system. This makes it perfect for those of you out there that are on a budget but that need to open up some value and create more of a muscle car sound. Replacing the resonator with an X-Pipe can totally change the sound of the car, even with the stock axleback still installed. The Resonator Delete is firstly going to free up some power and, of course, volume, since it will be replacing that restrictive factory resonator with a 409-grade, stainless steel X-Pipe that is more free-flowing. So not only are you going to have a major change in sound with this X-Pipe, but you'll also be freeing up some power as well. While this does reuse the factory cat so it stays smog-legal, you're still going to have those sound and power gains here and reusing the stock cats will save you money, which is always a plus. This X-Pipe is 2.5" in diameter and [inaudible 00:02:18] and like I said, it is 409-grade which is great for those cars that are daily drivers or those that see weather conditions other than the sun. It's going to offer great corrosion resistance and, like I mentioned earlier, one of the cool things about this X-Pipe is that you can pair it with your stock mufflers for a change of exhaust note, or you can run it with an aftermarket axleback. So you'll cut and remove the factory resonator and clamp into place the new X-Pipe, no matter what axleback you back. But either way you'll still maintain the use of the stock cats. So like a typical X-Pipe, this X-Pipe from SR Performance is going to force the exhaust gases to cross and even out. It's going to create a raspy note and a lot more volume, even with the factory components. On a scale of one to five, with five being the loudest, and keeping in mind that you're still going to have your stock cats, I would rate this X-Pipe with a solid two with the factory axleback. It definitely opens up some sound, but it's not overbearing or crackly or too raspy with the factory axleback. But if you're planning on swapping your factory axleback anytime soon, just know that this X-Pipe will help make things a lot louder. Depending on which axleback you end up choosing, you could be looking at more of a four on the loudness scale. As far as price goes, this X-Pipe Resonator Delete is the most affordable on the site, especially when you start to consider how much exhaust costs for the S550. This X-Pipe costs just a little over $100 and there currently is only one other X-Pipe that even comes close to this price. But the real kicker is, this other option is made from aluminized steel, while the SR Performance X-Pipe is that 409-stainless that I mentioned. At the end of the day, I would say that this is a great deal. You have a fast and easy way to totally change your exhaust and it's also a high-quality material. And if you think about it, if you pair this with an aftermarket axleback, you've effectively created a cat-back for your GT and you've paid a lot less for it. As for the install, you do have some flexibility here. Like the name suggests, there will be some cutting involved but nothing too difficult. If you take your time, it's going to take about two hours to complete, maybe less. And I'm going to call this a two out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, but mainly just because of the cutting that's involved. The X-Pipe does come with brand new clamps that SR Performance has upgraded so they'll perform correctly, and like I just mentioned, you always have the option of clamping the front and welding in the rear of the X-Pipe. But that's up to you and your shop. A lot of people like welding in the rear better but that's not something that you have to do. I will say that the X-Pipe is 2.5" out the rear as well, which means that you will need to slit or expand the ends so you can slip it over your factory exhaust. That's going to be the only downside here, but ultimately that's really just a small bump in the install road. It's nothing to really rain on the parade of the value of this piece, especially if you have a good shop installing it. So overall, this is a high-quality, stainless steel Resonator Delete X-Pipe that can work with either the factory axleback or an aftermarket one. It also works with the factory cats and it's going to free up some sound and volume from the GT. It's a great way to inexpensively change your exhaust note, and as always check it out more online for yourself. And for all things Mustang, keep it right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Improve Exhaust Flow For More Power. Replace the restrictive factory Mid-pipe Resonator on your coyote Powered S550 Mustang with a free flowing SR Performance Resonator Delete X-Pipe to improve your pony's exhaust flow for an increase in horsepower, torque and overall performance.

Race Car Growl. SR Performance's free flowing X-Pipe for the 2015-2018 GT Mustangs not only eliminates the factory resonator to help increase power, but it also adds a loud raspy, race car growl to the sound of your exhaust with its modern "X" crossover pipe design.

Reuses Stock Cats. This SR Performance X-Pipe requires cutting and removing the factory Mid Pipe resonator and clamps in place reusing the stock clamps. Best of all it reuses the factory catalytic converters saving you money and keeping you smog legal at the same time.

Stainless Steel Construction. Manufactured from 2.5" diameter free-flowing mandrel bent 16 gauge 409 stainless steel tubing for it's durability and corrosion resistance, this SR Performance X-Pipe will improve exhaust flow and last a lifetime.

I'm just want to know if this x pipe fit the 3.7 as well?

    • The SR Performance Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe is specifically designed for use on the 2015-2017 GT Mustangs only and will not fit on the V6 models due to the size difference.

What is the weight of the x-pipe. I was told the stock resonator weighs about 15 pounds. I was wondering what the savings in weight might be.

    AllenB

    • The SR Performance Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe weighs approximately 11.3 Pounds.

Can the 409 stainless be confirmed? I saw on other sites this was being advertised as aluminized steel.

    JoeM

    • I am not sure which other site this x-pipe was advertised as aluminized steel, however, American Muscle is the exclusive dealer for SR Performance and they are indeed constructed of T409.

Is this X Pipe better than the Heartthrob H pipe?

    SixTimeChamps

    • Hey Champ, To say one is better is really relative, they both are about the same in terms of power, the difference lies mainly with sound. H-pipe you generally get a deeper sound than an x-pipe. But x-pipes are usually louder.

So if as some have said and this x pipe has the same diameter as your stock pipe, how do you attach it to the cat pipes? I don't want to weld it as I want to do it myself. Do I need to get extra parts? What do I need, where can I get them? Thanks

    Lexugax

    • Hi, you will use the supplied exhaust clamps to secure the resonator delete pipe onto factory cat back, and use the factory exhaust clamps to connect this SR Performance Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe to the mid pipe.

I have the AWE Switchpath 3in catback with an h-pipe. Would this be able to be a direct replacement for the hpipe section of my catback exhaust? Or would i need something like this: https://www.americanmuscle.com/flowmaster-venturi-reducer-cone-3in-to-25in-7917.html since it looks like this xpipe is 2.5in?

    GabrielH

    • The SR Performance Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe are designed to simply replace the factory resonator and bolt to the stock catalytic converters. The AWE SwitchPath Cat-Back Exhaust, item # 397443, may not accept the X-Pipe as a direct bolt on.

      Love it !

I was skeptical about putting it on along with the SLP ll axle back. Didn't know how loud it would be. Don't regret it one bit. I just love sound combination. Loud, but not too loud.

      Nice resonator replacement

This was relatively inexpensive and came quickly. I like it for the most part - I decided to expand the tube around my existing exhaust front and rear the seam on the X pipe split while this was being done ( therefore three stars for fit and finish). welded that back together and everything worked fine. Sounds nice with Rausch axle back exhaust. No interior drone.

      Excellent bang for your buck

As a proud new owner of a 2017 GT the first thing I noticed was how tame it sounded. A quick glance under the car and it clear why (suitcase sized resonator). I ordered the SR performance X pipe as an intermediate step - I don't know which full system I want, but knew I wanted a little more sound until them. The SR performance X-Pipe is perfect for that scenario, well built, ideal price, and arrived quickly. My local exhaust shop installed it in about 20 min for $50. Now the car sounds like it should have from the factory and my timeline to decide which full exhaust to buy is extended - tsk for the great service AM!

      Decidedly Excellent Value

I was unsure about modifying the large stock exhaust assembly at first but once it was removed and cut lines measured about 4 times, the SR performance X-pipe assembled without issue. With stock mufflers, the sound changes were disappointing at first startup, but the first drive changed my mind. The raspy notes and guttural rpm drop tones during relaxed shifts make me happy just thinking about them. It won't abruptly wake the neighbor's, but it will make them jealous. If you're looking for a first mod, the price this X-pipe makes it a no brainer.

      SR Product

SR X-pipe with a regular muffler delete is a set up that rips and is extremely loud. I am beyond satisfied and happy with the set up. The car sounds like it has headers lol. I do recommend going to an exhaust shop to weld on in the back and clamp up front. Shop charged me $45 bucks to install, but it's worth every cent for this set up.

      Great 1st mod!

I had this x-pipe in my garage before I even took delivery of the vehicle. It was installed with less than 20 miles on the car and I have no regerts. Installed from the floor of my garage with the car on 4 jack stands. Measure at least twice before cutting. The stock resonator makes the car too quiet and this really wakes up the exhaust note. I kept the stock mufflers on the car and it sounds awesome! There are times when I wish it was a bit louder, but that's what electronic cut-outs are for.

      SR X-Pipe

Wow, what a great X-Pipe! This pipe is very good quality. You might think by the price it might not be so good, but let me tell you. It's 409 stainless steel, the weld is flawless, and oh boy what a great sound. It clamps right in and comes with seal clamps for the rear that actually work. I am running the stock mufflers with this pipe and I love the sound. It woke up my ride instantly. Great upgrade!

      SR Resonator Delete

Recently purchased the SR Performance Resonator Delete. I took it to a local exhaust shop and it was installed in under an hour. Fit and finish seem spot on. Thought it would make the car a lot louder than what It did. Adding an axle back should give me the sound I'm looking for. Overall though, an excellent product.

      Best bang for the buck

Excellent x pipe compared to the Ford racing X pipe had the local exhaust shop and stored it took them about 20 minutes and instead of clamping the rear it was welded the clam supplied with the unit or not the proper clamps the set is excellent I need your sound is great and it only cost $60 to have them install it a lot easier than doing it yourself pest bags in the back highly recommend

End result is great, but don't buy this X-pipe

This X-pipe is well made and fits where it is supposed to, and most importantly, sounds great. It was exactly what I was looking for from my GT. Not too loud, just some more growl that you can hear windows up or down. It has a nice rasp at the top end and I swear the car pulls harder at above 4000 rpm. Now to the bad stuff. This pipe will not fit the factory piping after the resonator. The ends are the same diameter as the 2.5" factory pipe and there is no notch in it to tighten up. I ended up having to go to the exhaust shop down the street so they could weld in adapters to make this fit. I'm out $100 more than I wanted to be. If I had known this wouldn't fit, I would've ordered the Ford Racing or another X-Pipe and saved a few bucks in the process.

      X-pipe

Got this cause it was cheap. It worked well for its intended purpose. The clamps didn't seal very well so I had to buy muffler tape and wrap around the x pipe and put the clamps around that. Ran it with the stock axleback for a couple weeks and it gave it a nice, more throaty tone. Threw some Roush axlebacks on the car afterwards and it really woke those up.

      Runs smoother

I did this one myself and it does add a little bit of sound, not much you'll definitely want an axleback eventually. But my main concern is when your putting the clams on, there's no cuff so the pipes don't slide into each other. They just butt up against each other. So there is a leak at the clamps, just gotta figure out how to stop that.. maybe exhaust wrap?

Sounds awesome paired with Roush Axle Back

I have this x pipe paired with the roush axle back exhaust system for my 2017 ford mustang gt premium cali special manual... the sound the combo produces is amazing. Fair warning: it is very loud on cold start ups in the morning, so if you have strict/annoying neighbors, they will not like this. I am very satisfied with, good overall quality as well. Had the shop install it for $100 since I had no place. There is absolutely no drone in gears 1-5, but gear 6 has very slight humming noise when you're driving a bit slower, like 50 mph-60.. i usually use gear 5 for those speeds any ways.

      SR performance X pipe

Works great, sounds how it should have from the factory, a little louder with deeper idle. Did notice a small bump in gas mileage too... Took about 2 hrs in my garage to install with jackstands, in hind sight I would've put it up on a lift if I do anything under that car again..

      Great first mod

This is what my mustang should have sounded like from the factory. I had it put on at a local trusted exhaust shop. Took them may be 15 minutes with a lift. Even with factory exhaust it sounds great. Tame at low RPM, aggressive everywhere else.

The item is perfect for the price, it made a bit of difference. I still wanted my car louder so I ordered axle back mufflers. But this was an improvement and removed weight, by taking the resonator off.

      X-Pipe

Looking for more volume and this fit the bill perfectly. The factory sound was very well tuned but way too quite! The X-pipe added just a little bit of a race car growl and enough volume to make the car noticeable without being too loud. Extra and pleasing volume when getting on it...no drone while cruising at any RPM.

      Cackle

Lots of that rasp i was looking for. Warning, this will make your car much produce much less rumble and deep tone. It will be a scream bloody murder once you take it above a couple thousand rpms. Also, mine was paired with the outlaw axle back kit originally. I eventually swapped back to the stock mufflers because i drove 60ish miles each day for work, but as long as you keep the rpms below 2000 there was no drone; above 2000 and you couldn't hear anything. With the stock mufflers it sounds basically the same as stock with the resonator. i think this x pipe would go great with a legit pair of mufflers rather than something minimal such as the outlaws.
