Dave from AmericanMuscle, today I have the stack racing 70mm throttle body, designed to fit the 96-2004 Mustang GTs. This will exclude the Cobra and Bullitt as they have a different style throttle body. The idea of a throttle body is to continue to give y

Definitely noticed some throttle response and looks great under the hood!! However the hole for the throttle cable wasn't drilled out properly and after fighting with it forever I found the hole needed to be made bigger for it to fitHelpful (0)

Looks amazing, feels incredible, sounds even better...but be forewarned. The throttle and cruise control cable attachments from your mustang DO NOT FIT onto the new TB. I have a 2001 GT conv. and maybe it was just mine, but I had to bore out the hole on the new TB to be able to re-attach the throttle cable and I had to order a new cruise control cable because I broke the old one trying to put it on. Other than that, I highly recommend. AM customer service was also really helpful.Helpful (0)

o4 sonic blue gt-upgrade
I bought this 70mm throttle body and installed without any major issueS other than drilling out of the linkage hole. This installed along with my SR PERFORMANCE cold air intake and a bama tune made a noticeable increase in throttle response and top end seems to pull harder. For the money and it being polished-2 thumbs upHelpful (0)

Nice looking and awesome
Very happy with this purchase. Also bought the plenum to go with it since the price was great! One issue. When connecting the stock throttle cable it would not fit in the hole. I carefully drilled it to make it fit, other than that very happy with it!Helpful (0)

SR 70mm Throttle Body
Good quality item and best bang for your buck. I added this to my SN95 GT with a SR Performance CAI and a BAMA tune. Would highly recommend if your going to stick with a NA 4.6, but are also looking for some increased power and throttle response.Helpful (2)
Does this require a tune?
Just adding a larger TB to your car will do little in performance, but enough that you should notice the change. Adding any performance item, a tune will give you the most it is capable, but it's not needed to feel it. Most times, just disconnecting your battery for five minutes will let the computer drop it's programming of how the car was driven before. Once you reconnect the battery and drive it a few days, it will relearn the new stuff added. You will notice the gain once the computer relearns. Things like cold air intakes, etc will just add to that. You just want to be sure nothing is blocking all that air getting into the engine.
What can I expect with this mod alone. I am debating on whether to buy this or not. How much HP and ft/lbs would I expect but just using this mod alone. My engine is bone stock so when this mod alone ( no tune , CAI , or intake plenum ) what gains will I see performane wise ?
Better throttle response, and <10 hp at wide open throttle. If you were to get a tune for it you would see more gains from it for sure. If you planned on doing more mods the SCT tuner would really be beneficial. I would do all your modding and then get the tune to include all the mods. So buying the CAI - SCT Tuner package last would be my suggestion. You can tell Bama tuning all the mods you have done and they will write you a tune that will get the most out of all of them. It's not cheap to mod a Mustang, just take it one step at a time, and have fun!
Hello, Is this throttle body legal in California?
Unfortunately the SR Performance 70mm Throttle Body is not certified and approved by the California Air Resource Board meaning this Throttle Body will be illegal for use upon highway/road in California.
Is this California smog legal?
This throttle body will not pass California smog regulations.
I already have a cai. I was wondering if I needed to buy a tuner along with this throttle body.
Hello! A tuner is not required for a throttle body installation, however it will definitely add more power and make the throttle body run a little more efficiently.
With only a Cold Air Intake your best bet would be the 70mm TB. The stock TB from the factory is 65mm. With a stock engine or even mildly modded the 70mm will work the best. Going bigger than 70mm will decrease the velocity and have a negative effect on throttle response and decrease your low end and mid range acceleration. The 2 Valve heads that the engine came with do not flow all that good for a high performance application. If in the future you build your engine and super charge or turbo charge then a 75 or the BBK 78mm TB would be the way to go.
I personally would add the tune to obtain the full advantages of the throttle body install.
You should have no fitment issues with that setup.
There are different designs of spacers which are intended to achieve a similar feature. One is designed and engineered exclusively for the diameter and size stock throttle body, swirling the air with the unique design. Change the diameter of the throttle body and everything changes. Other spacers are there to space out the throttle body. But they're at the stock diameter, and if you put this on you are restricting the flow and effectively inserting a bottleneck to the intake setup. Use a spacer and an upgraded throttle body, and you often get a check engine light.
There will be no issues installing the SR Performance 70mm Throttle Body on a plenum with a 75mm opening.
The throttle body spacer is compatible with the stock throttle body. It will not work with the SR Performance 70mm Throttle Body .
The SR Performance 70mm Throttle Body will work with the C&L Upper Intake Plenums designed for 1996-2004 Mustang GT's.
This throttle body will work with the SR Performance Upper Intake Plenum (96-04 GT), item # 41120, (http://www.americanmuscle.com/sr-9604-plenum.html).
If you are presently using your factory TB on the mentioned setup, then this TB will just replace your old TB.
