Popular Tire Setups for this Wheel
Hey everyone I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com and I’m taking a look at our 2003 Cobra style wheels for all 94-04 Mustangs in your choice of either black or chrome. These wheels pay tribute to the terminator Cobras that originated in 2003 and are hands down my favorite modern Mustang. With that signature supercharger whine, that aggressive front end, and these 5 spoke wheels, there wasn’t much not to like. These lightweight aluminum wheels are offered in 17” diameter only, and your choice of either triple dipped chrome, gloss black finish, and for the black deep dish option, black with a polished lip. Now we have the latter installed on our 2000 GT behind me, and on our 98 GT on our Dynojet, sporting the very stealthy gloss black look. Now it’s easy to see these wheels look great on both the SN95 and the New Edge platform. But without a doubt our most popular choice is shown right behind me on our V6, with the chrome deep dish 17x9’s up front, and the 17x10.5’s in the rear, giving us that staggered look that instantly transforms our ride into full on muscle car status. Not only that, you get to run a massive 315 size tire out back, giving you all the traction you can handle. Part of the reason you’re able to run such a massive tire in the rear is due to the fact that these wheels are offered in the very cool deep dish option. Now this simply means that the face of the wheel is set further back into the rim, resulting in that nice wide lip which looks awesome. Now with some of our other AmericanMuscle wheels you do have the option of mixing a standard fitment wheel up front with a deep dish wheel out back, however due to the design of these Cobra style wheels, you either have to go deep dish on all four corners, or standard fitment all around, it’s up to you. If you’ve never installed a new set of wheels and tires on your car, don’t worry, it couldn’t be easier. All you need is a few hand tools and a floor jack. First step is you want to make sure your car is on level ground, once you do that crack the lugs loose first, jack your car into the air and swap the wheels. That’s it, you’re done, it shouldn’t take you any more than an hour. Now obviously you can’t install these wheels without tires so you’ll definitely need to take care of that. You can always do that on your own or let us do all the work for you with one of our pre built tire and wheel combinations, here we give you a couple of different tire options which are guaranteed to fit your ride without rubbing even if you’re lowered a little bit. You’ll even save yourself a little money in the process thanks to our free mounting and balancing and as always free shipping and handling. And with all AmericanMuscle wheels you have peace of mind knowing that your wheels are backed by a 1 year warranty on finish, and a lifetime structural warranty as well. It’s easy to say that sometimes less is more, that’s exactly the case with these wheels, the aggressive 5 spoke design of these 2003 Cobra style wheels is sure to turn any Mustang from average to terminator in no time and they can be found right here at AmericanMuscle.com

American Muscle 2003 black Cobra wheels
These tires complete my build of my '92 Mustang GT convertible. I had no trouble fitting them, but I did have to use spacers in the back to gain a little more space between the wheel and shock absorber.Helpful (0)

245's front and 275 or 285 on the rear? I want to run as wide as possible on the rear without doing more than rolling the fender wells, the car isn't lowered, but I need at least 275's will 285's work properly on a 9" wheel? I know you make.a 10" wheel but then I have to modify my.suspension? And I don't want drag radials just regular all.around performance.tires from.bf goodrich, michelin,or whatever, do you sell those? If not I would like to order the 17's 8",7"? fronts and 9" rears minimum, unless you have a solution so I can get 10" on the rear without compromising my suspension. Thanks for you're help, tom also I.can't find the.ordering box on.here. please help, tom
If you want to stick with the Black 2003 Cobra Wheel, the largest we carry is the 17x9. You can do the 245/45-17 front tires and 275/40-17 tires in the rear, both would have the same sidewall height and would fit without any rubbing issues or problems with suspension. Unfortunately though, we don't carry any 275/40-17 tires that are not street or drag radials. I'd recommend giving us a call to better help you figure out which wheel and tire combination would best suit your needs!
Would this rim work for my application Honestly, I don't know jack squat about tires and rims, so this my be a stupid question. I was just wondering if this rim would fit on 255/40zr17 94w Nitto NT555?
You can certainly use the 255/40-17 tires in the rear without a problem, but they would be too large and rub if used as a front tire. The best fitting tire for this 17x9 is the 245/45-17 for both front and rear. I've attached the link below for you. Hope this helps!
Will these work on a 1992 Mustang GT that has been lowered 2" from stock? What tire/rim would fit best without rubbing?
What is the back spacing on this wheel?
Backspacing:5.71 Inches, 145mm
Just want to make sure this product fits my car my is mustang is 1988 convertible GT
This 17x9" 2003 Corba Style Wheel will fit the 1988 Mustang GT.
Any standard lug nut would work as the stock lug nuts fit just fine with these.
The 17x9" 2003 Cobra Style Wheel will fit the 1987 Mustang GT equipped with the SLP Loudmouth exhaust.
This wheel is designed for 87-93 Mustangs and will not work with a 02 Mustang GT. However, we do offer this wheel for the 94-04 Mustangs which can be found here: https://www.americanmuscle.com/17x9-03cobra-wheel-black.html.
The 2003 Cobra Style Black Wheel will come with our updated "AM" center cap instead of the traditional "American Muscle" center cap.
The 2003 Cobra Style Black Wheel in 17x9 carries a +18mm offset.
The 17x9 2003 Cobra Style Black Wheel is too wide to fit in the front of your 90 LX Mustang.
These wheels should be torqued to the OEM torque spec (95-100Ft LBs). 80 Ft-lbs or less would provide inadequate clamping force and could cause the wheels to come loose. Aluminum wheels can handle torques well in excess of 80 ft lbs, even Current Mustangs with Aluminum rims use a torque spec of 100 Ft Lbs, and some SUV, Truck, and Semi trucks far exceed even that (F150's can be seen around 120-150ft lbs for an F150 dependent on the year and large trucks utilizing 22.5" 10 lug wheels use a wheel torque spec of 475-500 FT-lbs for aluminum wheels.)
Yes, these 2003 Cobra Style Black Wheels would fit on a 1991 Mustang. However, a 225/60R15 size tire would not fit on this wheel.
These may not fit with a 1986 Mustang as the 86s have a different spindle that sits further away. The 9" wheel may come into contact with the strut for that reason. I would suggest the 17x8 wheels in place of these.
Simple installation for anyone.
