Justin from AmericanMuscle.com, we're here with Chris Thompson from Airaid. He stopped by the shop to tell us a little more about these great Airaid products. We're very familiar with Airaid; we use them on our project cars with great success. Chris, what can you tell us about Airaid that makes it so unique? "Everything we do is digitally designed. It's engineered to fit, it's engineered to work, it's engineered to work without any special tuning. Now, tuning is much, much better. You guys offer a lot of great choices in aftermarket tuning. It'll only enhance the performance of the Mustang. We design our intakes so there's no special gluing required, there's no cutting or hacking of the engine required. If somebody decided to put a stock intake back on, they don't have to go back to Ford to buy another part to put the piece back on. Every intake we do is digitally designed. It's all about the design of the airflow and the linear charge to the throttle body. We use the rotational molding not so much for the heat soaking, but for the shape of the tube we can come up with. By using the rotational molding, it allows us to really give the right shape and form to make sure the product works well." We're very excited—we've got our 2013 Mustang here, probably not even 10 miles on this thing yet, and we already have an Airaid intake on it. Tell us a little more about that. "This is awesome. We're really excited to be here today. This is the first Airaid intake on a 2013 Mustang. We're really excited to be here with you guys. As you can see it fits. We know for sure it fits. We believe we have a hit. We'll do a little bit more testing on it before we release it to the public, but that should happen anytime now." Now, you were telling me earlier, you're working with some legends in the Mustang world. "Well, we're excited about working with Parnelli Jones and his son PJ. Parnelli's been instrumental in helping us come along with the Boss 302 intakes we're trying to develop. Nobody knows the heritage of the Boss 302 better than Parnelli Jones. We worked with PJ on the side by side utility vehicles (Razors, Rhinos, and TRX's). We also sponsored him in the past on his endeavors in the American Le Mans Series, which he ran last year." Chris, thank you so much for educating us on your great Airaid products. And as always, you can find those great Airaid products right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

More Air for More Power. Your V8 Mustang's stock inlet tube is undersized with restrictive accordion-shaped walls and sound-canceling baffles that obstruct airflow, essentially robbing you of power. But by replacing your factory tube with a computer designed Modular Intake Tube from Airaid you will maximize air flow to increase horsepower, torque and improve fuel efficiency.

No Tune Required. Unlike other Air Intakes on the market today for the 5.0L V8 Coyote Mustang, the Airaid Modular Intake Tube does not require a computer re-tune. The engineers at Airaid really did their homework to improve your Pony's power and performance using the stock tune.

CARB Certified. Best of all this Airaid Modular Intake Tube is 50-state smog legal under Carb EO# D-609-11.

Easy Installation. The Airaid modular intake tube was designed to be a direct fit replacement for the stock inlet tube and installs with just basic hand tools. No extra modifications or special tools are required for an easy 1 hour installation.

Application. The Airaid Modular Intake Tube is specifically designed to fit the 2011 to 2014 GT Mustangs equipped with the 5.0L V8 Coyote engine. This Modular Intake Tube reuses the factory air box and filter element.

Does this need to have the negative battery cable disconnected? Before install because I skipped that part. Thanks

    ti1andrezz

    • Disconnecting the battery is not strictly necessary, however it is a safety step to prevent damage to vehicle electronics, and will also reset adaptive parameters, allowing the car to "learn" the new part more quickly.

Would this work with ford racings track cal tuner and filter?

    Anonymous

    • Yes its made specifically for that application, stock air box and filter. The tuner aspect will not make a difference with the procal, I would recommend a custom tune.

I have the Roush Cold Air Intake (10-14 GT), item # 69057 and also purchased a Tuner, My question is can i order this and not use the reducing coupler being i can tune the car?

    Sumanis

    • The Airaid Modular Intake Tube (11-14 GT) will work just fine paired up with the Roush Cold Air Intake (10-14 GT). This Airaid intake tube will not have any reducing coupler in it. If you are referring to restrictive sleeve that mounts inside of the MAF sensor housing, than yes, if your intake is equipped with that sleeve you can certainly remove it and tune the car accordingly.

      Great Transformation

I was first attracted to this item for the smoothness of the tube and the fact that I can eliminate the (eyesore) sound tube. Once I got it, I was nice to see and feel the quality of this piece. The instructions were easy and straight forward and it took me about 30 minutes to install. It cleaned up the engine bay by finally getting rid of the sound tube. I'm into the fine details, so as you can see, I installed an OEM Ford emblem instead of the Airaid sticker. It just a added that finer detail that I am after. A smoother air tube = better air flow. That being said, I do recommend this product.

I have a roucsh cold air box and this worked very well with it. I also have the 90mm throttle body. I can hear the air being sucked into the engine now while hitting the gas. It's an awesome sound.

      Airaid modular!

I recently ordered this part for my car, and what can I say. Immediate difference. I had already installed a cold air filter from roush that I had bought from here as well. And this modular definitely completed this package. I felt the difference on the higher rpm'a and as far as Install, it was a breeze. Only took about an hour.

easy install of airaid modular intake tube

. Good directions for installing modular intake tube. using simple hand tools installation took me less than an hour. Excellent fit and smart appearance. This application can do away with sound tube which is useless if you are running aggressive exhaust. Performance wise car feels more responsive. This is a worth while mod at a fair price!

Great fit and easy to install.

I had a Roush cold air intake and factory fitting on my car and decided as I upgraded this year to change some things. I removed the factory intake tubing and noticed a large empty drop off section on it, maybe it was left to collect moisture, but I can see where Airaid talks of the wasted space and impeding the airflow. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. I only gave 3 stars for Performance and Bang because it is winter and my ride won't see the street for 2 more months, but I don't think I will be disappointed.

      Nice Clean Up

Used this with the AEM Dry Filter for the stock air box. Didn't want the exposed hot air intake that adds minimal HP and leaves a filter exposed to moisture from the hood vent. Don't buy the CAI just because you're supposed to. Get the 93 octane tune and you're set.

      Airaid intake tube

Airaid intake tube looks great installed. My car has the open hood vents and rain water comes in. This allows you to keep the stock enclosed air filter housing which is designed for good airflow and keeps under hood heat away from engine air intake flow. Biggest thing I noticed was improved drive ability especially starting off from a stop in 1st gear (manual transmission) .

      Worth Buying.....

I have stock intake manifold, 85mm TB, Roush CAI, and tune. This tube wrapped all of those mods up real nice! I paired this modular intake tube with my Roush open air CAI that I had on the car for a while, and I immediately noticed a nice bump in low end torque (butt dyno) and overall airflow into the intake manifold. You can definitely tell the difference between this tube and the stock restrictive, poorly constructed tubing. Additionally the look of this intake tube is a nice addition under the hood. I definitely recommend this product on a stock set up and definitely for anyone running the Roush CAI as air will definitely flow better.

      Awesome product

Awesome product! Only took about 20 minutes to put on! It really helps out at low RPM but helps noticeably throughout the band. Little bit of intake sound but I like that. Glad I could keep the factory sealed airbox due to all of the rain we get here in Florida. Get this product, especially if you get a lot of rain, you will be pleased!

      Great product

Great product. I was afraid of the cai due to the water issue with the hood vents. Fit snug and has a great sound. For the money it's a great mod until later power adders. With a k&n and tune you will safely get the gains you want without water getting into your intake.

      Great product

I wanted to fabricate an aluminum tube just like this for the track that would not require a tune and use the stock MAF. I saw this on American Muscle's new product list before I got that project started. It was the perfect solution for me! It's CARB legal and I can just leave it on without worry in California for daily driving and to/from the track. Feels like a nice little bump in power, and is a great bang for the buck. OEM-like fit, so the installation took just minutes. Thanks to American Muscle and Airaid! Would love one that fits the Boss too...

I already had a KandN filter so it is a little more responsive...I believe if I combine it with the intake spacer it will be more of what I was expecting to happen with this mod. I will post more after I try that mod. I did get about another 1.5 mpg.

      Airaid MIT

Installed the MIT today along with the Airaid Poweraid TBS and was surprised as to how fast I was able to tell the difference. I thought that there was going to be a "re-learn" process. As soon as I pressed on the gas pedal, felt the immediate throttle response and better torque at the lower rpm range. Install was very simple. Looks and works great with the Roush CAI. I'm very happy!
