    Review & Installation Video

Hey everybody. I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and this is my breakdown of the Airaid Race Cold Air Intake system, equipped with a Dry Track Day filter fitting your 2015 Mustang GT. Airaid continues to be one of the leaders in aftermarket filtration for many Mustang owners, thanks to their many options and configurations that should cater just about to every owner and his or her needs. Now, this particular option from Airaid is their Track Day offering, which will differ slightly from some of the other options from Airaid available here on the site. Now right off the bat, you can see visually the biggest difference is with the air box, or lack thereof, here with the Track Day option. Now, the standard option for your Coyote powered 2015 GT does come with that fancy plastic air box with the plexiglass window, stainless steel trimmed; very, very appealing. Now, the track option here, is pretty much all business as you can see, yet still very attractive with the stamped, stainless steel heat shield in place of that ABS plastic air box. But what really makes this a race-oriented intake is that Dry Track Day filter that is included here with this kit. Now, Airaid says you can oil the filter if you want, but again, it does ship dry to you. And what really is going to separate this is the construction. Now, it starts off life as your typical filter. You've got the polyurethane casing matched with that wire mesh skeleton, but the inside or guts of this filter is what really provides that maximum flow. They use a high flow cotton gauze that really will still catch those larger particles, but it's not going to offer the same benefits or filtration as their SynthaMax or SynthaFlow, filters for instance. So that is why Airaid strongly recommends using this filter for track day purposes only. So that pretty much covers the intake filter itself, and the heat shield. Now, as for the plastic intake tube itself, the standard offering here that you will find with other options from Airaid for your 2015 GT, same roto-molded plastic construction, same diameter, which means you can run this intake either with or without a custom tune, if you choose to. Now of course, here at AmericanMuscle.com, we always recommend upgrading to a custom tune just to really maximize the performance gains possible here with this Airaid. Obviously, more horsepower and torque are to be expected, but also increased driveability, throttle response, things like that, and increased shift firmness and shift points here with the automatic cars. Now, of course, guys, we have to get this thing installed first. So, to do so, you're going to need some few basic hand tools and about an hour's worth of your time, but if you do get a little jammed up, reach out to a Mustang expert any time. We already have our baseline numbers from today, using our six-speed 2015 GT behind me. So with the intake installed, let's make another hit here on the Dynojet and see what kind of gains we're looking at. Our baseline run using our six speed 2015 GT gave us 387 horsepower and 365 pound feet of torque at the rear wheels. With the Race Cold Air Intake System in place from Airaid, the car is now making 413 horsepower and 384 pound feet of torque, giving us a peak gain of 26 horsepower over those baseline numbers, and gains of as much as 34 horsepower and 30 pound feet of torque under the curve. So if you guys are serious about tracking your Mustang and are looking for maximum performance without compromising the safety of your motor, well then you have to take a closer look at the Race Cold Air Intake option from Airaid with the Track Day filter, available right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Increase horsepower and torque. Airaid Race Cold Air Intake Systems are computer designed to give your 5.0L Coyote V8 engine maximum air flow, which translates to more horsepower, torque and improved fuel efficiency. Airaid race intakes are Dyno tested and tuned for maximum performance and efficiency.

Track Use Only Filter. Made in the USA Track Day Filters feature the same high quality construction as Airaid's regular air filters, including sturdy polyurethane casings, wire mesh construction, and layers of high flow cotton gauze. Track Day Filters are shipped dry, but can be oiled by the end user if so desired. They are intended for use in a controlled racing environment (track use only) and are not recommended for street use as they do not provide enough particulate protection for daily driving.

Application. This Airaid Race Cold Air Intake System with Track Day filter is specifically designed to fit the 2015-2017 GT Mustangs equipped with the Coyote 5.0L DOHC V8 engine. An Airaid Pre-filter is highly recommended for use in wet conditions.

Technical Note. This Airaid Cold Air Intake is not legal for use in California or other states adopting California emission standards. Intended for track use only.

You state it does require a tune, but the description states it does not. Which is it, I am looking into a CAÍ and this would help. Thanks

    Ghalp

    • This Airaid Race Cold Air Intake does not require a computer retune to be used, but it would not perform to its full potential without the tune. This particular cold air intake is also not recommend for street use.

      Good bang for the buck

Easy install, plug and play. Original box didn’t come with hardware so I had to wait for that to come in. Only reason it got 3 stars as opposed to 5. Combined with Pypes X Bomb, makes a good sound

      Track day intake!

Absolutely love this track day intake by Airaid! The dry filter itself is a big cone! Definitely can hear the amount of air intakes and the whistle sound while driving... of course also with an upgrade of a 90mm throttle body! I would definitely recommend this intake. Keep in mind the filter is for track only! If your going to use for street, I would recommend purchasing a pre-filter to place over the coned filter. Approximate installation time 30 to 45 mins depending on your wrenching skills. Arrived on time delivered by UPS and packaged very well.

      great quick add-on

Really easy to install, great boost in power even without the tuner however I did get a bama tune. Just sound alone made it worth the purchase. took about 1.5 hours to install only because the resonator is a pain to remove from the firewall.

      Unleash the Beast!!!!

So I bought this CAI not knowing if this would be a good investment and to my surprise this CAI is super awesome. This CAI can be used with or without a tune. The only reason I am rating this product at 4 stars is because I can't get a tune with this CAI because it will void my car's warranty which I barely bought so no dice at the moment. However I felt the gains in my vehicle immediately once I installed this bad boy. Thus by far a very nice plus you really can feel those horses running if you know what I mean. I would totally recommend this product to any guy or gal wanting to add some horsepower without breaking the bank. American muscle did an awesome job getting me this product out by the time frame which I paid for. I did three day service and got it a day earlier sweet.... I totally love this product glad I bought this product in particular!!!! You won't be dissatisfied or disappointed. I've always Boughton my Mustang products from American Muscle. You guys have a loyal customer for life. Thank you guys.

      Great intake

It's a great intake, my intake temps stay around 5-10 degrees over the outside air unless I'm sitting in traffic. Even with out a tune you can feel the difference it makes.

      BIG GAIN!!!!!! AIR RAID

This CAI most definitely surprised me, the installation was a breeze. After maybe 20-30 min of installation I cranked the engine and to my surprise there was a distinctive whistle coming from the intake. I test drove and immediately felt and heard the difference. Overall I recommend this CAI, it is the best bang for your buck

      CAI

Fairly easy to install. Bracket that fit behind the fan housing had to be reamed out to install bolt. The bracket hit the fan housing before the holes lined up. Other than that small issue, it was an easy install. Love the ability to eliminate the sound tube. Have to put the car on a rack to completely eliminate the sound tube. Got this CAI because I do not like the looks of the enclosed Airaid CAI's.

      Not worth the money

While it seems to get the job done this part is poorly made. The tube inlet has a restrictor which mine in the center was shaved like if they took a metal grinder blade in the center and boared it out. It looks like they did a cheap job on the inside. The hose fittings are cheap rubber inserts which don't seat well at all, very loose, disappointing really. Should have just bought the JLT instead.
