    More Horsepower and Torque. Improve the performance of your DOHC 4.6L Mustang with a set of BBK Long Tube Headers. These BBK ceramic coated headers will greatly improve your Mustangs exhaust flow over the restrictive factory manifolds and increase your Pony's horsepower and torque. Increases of up to 22 RWHP have been seen when installed with a BBK shorty Mid Pipe.

    Silver Ceramic Coating. These Long Tube Headers are completed in BBK's Polished Silver Ceramic Coating that not only looks great, but reduce under hood temperatures to help increase horsepower and extend the life of the headers. Ceramic Coated headers will long out last both chrome plated and polished headers.

    Quality BBK Construction. BBK Long Tube Exhaust headers are manufactured from 1-5/8" CNC mandrel bent tubing for unrestricted airflow. And feature one piece laser cut 3/8" header flanges for added strength, leak-free performance and OEM fit. These headers are then completed in a polished ceramic finish for good looks and to lower under hood temperatures.

    Recommended Upgrade. To realize the full power potential that these Long Tube Headers have to offer, AmericanMuscle recommends a custom tune with a Mustang Handheld Tuner to reprogram the vehicles computer (ECU) for proper operation.

    Application. These Ceramic Long Tube Headers are designed to fit the 1996 to 1998 SVT Cobra Mustangs equipped with a manual transmission. BBK long tube headers require a flanged end shorty midpipe in order to function properly. BBK recommends using a BBK shorty H or X-Pipe for the best performance gains (see drop down option above).Note: 1998 SVT Cobras will require modification to driver side emissions tube for proper installation.

    Technical notes. Not legal for use on pollution controlled motor vehicles; intended for off road use only. A BBK shorty Mid Pipe is required for installation.

    Will these fit with my stock h-pipe?

    • The BBK 1-5/8 in. Ceramic Long Tube Headers will not fit with your stock h-pipe, as they require to be used in conjunction with a shorty midpipe. We recommend pairing it with a matching BBK shorty H or X-Pipe.

    Hi; I'am planning to get the BBK Ceramic Long Tube Headers for my 97 Cobra. I have factory manifolds with bbk off road h-pipes ( no cat.) connected to magnaflow off road exhaust ( cat backs). Will the bbk h-pipes that I have on work with the long tube headers that I plan on getting or will I still have to order the bbk shortty no cat. h or x mid pipes? Yes one more thing is the KooKs LT Hedaers really worth the money over the BBKs . Still deciding on the brands.

    What kinda gains could you see on a procharged mustang? I have stock headers which are open through cut outs and I'm thinking of going long tube going to cutouts.

    • The BBK Ceramic Long Tube Headers (96-98 Cobra) will gain about 14-22 RWHP with a stock car. For a Procharged car you can expect to gain an additional 10-15 RWHP.

      Poorly Manufactured, cheap material

      The performance gains are good. Woke my 32v 97 cobra up after the tune. However, one year after the installation all of the "ceramic coating" has bubbled and rusted completely off the collectors. I can just about push my finger through its so bad. Had to grind the side of a few bolts to make them clear the pipes close to the flanges. Aside from that, install wasnt bad because my engine was out already getting other work done (Its a PITA if its still in the car). Would not buy again! Just spend a bit more and go with a better company like kooks. If on a budget, just get painted ones. Basically the same in my opinion.

      Tight and tough but works

      Tight fit, especially on passenger side. 10 hours to get in and they sit low, scrape often with or without lowering. Use Stage 8 locks!

      Wait til you change your clutch

      For the average Joe these are great headers, I had a lift, air tools, the whole 9 when I first did mine along with a tubular k member. Fast forward 10 years later, guess what can't change the clutch with out pulling the passenger header!!! After about 3 hours and 2 broken header bolts I've got it loose. I wouldn't have ever bought them if I knew this prior. Hope this helps someone to make a better decision or BBK to change the passenger header.

      96 cobra

      Like the sound over stock. Still trying to figure out what I want from the H pipe back. It was a pita to install. Not fun glad I had a lift to use to get it installed would not of been able to do it on jackstands.

      Well let's start off I got them in about a week, then I get home to only see the box looked like they pick it from a dumpster A quality by the way and to top it off my hardware was missing so oh boy I sure love how they sound they sure make a difference in my room

      Love them !

      I've heard that ceramic doesn't rust and that chrome does ..so I went with this, and I love them ! They look sick , and installed with a BBK catless H paired with my SLP LM1 catback as well as having a blower , my Cobra sounds ridiculous!!! thanks AM !

      96-98 Cobra BBK LT Headers

      This was a lengthy install. RMA'ed to get the right set was not a problem. Good customer service. I highly recommend AM. This install was done without dropping the K member. It can be done, just remember to put the rag joint back BEFORE you mount the passenger side. She sounds great with BBK o/r H and stock mufflers.
